In other news, I've been away from ST's server more than I'd like for two reasons; I've resolved to avoid playing any games within two hours of bedtime, and I've been given new job duties that I'll have to spend the next month or so learning if I want to be eligible for promotion. I won't check in much at all until I get closure (fail or succeed) on this work stuff in late March. I'll miss you guys, but I'm not gone.

Speaking of gone, has anyone been able to log on to Psion's server or YSN's server? I've been unable to get on those for...since 1.0 came to ST's server? Are they gone?

I was on for a while and started work on a cave spider xp farm with the 3x spawners that were found. Unfortunately, I died due to hunger (well I suicided since I was gonna die from hunger and needed more supplies anyway). When I woke up, I was back at my old spider farm (the horribly broken one) and there were for some reason 900 entities onscreen (according to F3, I couldn't see any of them) and my computer was lagging like crazy and I couldn't move at all.

I finally managed to use worledit to remove those entities, it should be good now, unless there are more that were out of range of my command.

We need to resume breeding programs. Cattle population has been dwindling of late. I think we need to set up emergency stock points at various parts of the city for this purpose.

I was at the Pandora settlement, and I got 700 entities... I'm thinking that's related somehow. Lag hurts.

It might be worse now. I think we are getting the same effects that we had with scalls tumor. I was around that area again and it kept on logging me off and the lag was intolerable. it also has a longer range than before.

Very odd. Has anyone been in that area doing anything before the crash? I was last around the city, and it was okay (some 4 hours back).

EDIT: Hang on, could this by any chance be near scallel's super-storage again?

its not in the city. it's by scalls storage, but someone had critters on a giant room next to it. they are gone now but the lag remains.

When I finished I did some flying around and didn't experience anything unusual.

I think the server crashed. Sometimes I get a connection reset error when I try to connect, other times it sits on "downloading terrain" for a long time, and then I may or may not get into the world for a few seconds before I get a connection reset.

EDIT: I just got in, and it seems to be working. Here's hoping it stays that way!

EDIT 2: Connection reset after about 45 seconds of being in the world.

The old settlement, near the south end of the island. It may be a good idea to start evacuating people's stuff from the chests there, just in case...

Edit: It would also appear we had an extinction-level-event at the pandora city. Most livestock, except those far north (near Jestingrabbit's place) or far east (near Manial's place) have perished in the event.

I ran butcher over by the landing settlement, but nothing which should have affected anythng as far away as pandora city.

We may need to take the server down temporarily if this continues.

Blal, I can confirm that the water flushing mechanism is efficient. Over 100 mobs, on average it took 16 seconds for them to go into the water voluntarily, and 9 seconds with the flushing system. It only takes up 1 block-height, provided we place the clock mechanism up on the surface, which should be good.

Also, it turns out the easiest way to deal with jamming repeaters upon chunk reload is simply to run redstone power on a piece of dust right next to it. That makes resetting clocks easy.

A server crash while carrying 6 stacks of iron blocks and 2 stacks of gold blocks while zooming through the nether on a cart... is the minecraft equivalent of horror.

The server's being flaky... 3 crashes in the span of about 45 minutes. I noticed it started happening around the same time as I started using Bona's blaze farm. Not sure if this is coincidence or not, but to be safe, I'll try to keep it under 100 entities.

EDIT: 4th crash a minute or so after I left the blaze farm, near the Plains City portal.

That's probably a good idea. Whenever the server gets less stable, it's almost always going to be somewhere where mobs gather and spawn.

And hooray for the returned pick which has probably been there for a month or whatever, and hooray for service personnel who can fix what they are supposed to be able to fix.

And there has definitely been a pretty significant depopulation. But please, don't waste your wheat on cows except for aesthetic reasons. Right click on a mooshroom with a bucket and it will give you milk, kill it and it will give you leather and beef, shear it and will give you mushrooms and turn into a cow. Cows are redundant in the presence of the mooshroom.

I haven't seen any cows at all, I've only been doing mooshrooms because I can't find a pair of sheep to breed. There's a growing population near my house now.

Has someone been shearing them?

I collected and bred some cows and mooshrooms in the field behind the communarium. So, the population should start to go back up as I do more generations.
