I'm going to put forward a dissenting opinion - scour your local area for military surplus shops and see what they have available. They'll be comparatively cheap and most likely extremely hard wearing. I'm currently on my second pair of german paratrooper boots bought in this manner. The first pair lasted for years and years and years while being the most comfortable footwear I've ever owned, and these ones seem to be no different.

I actually didn't know about the new album, but I'll go take a look at it now.
I'll save you some trouble: Stick to Aim and Ignite, and if you want to check out more music look into The Format.
Less than awesome: This new album. There's goddamn
autotuning. You'll want to check out the samples on itunes or amazon before making a decision about this celebration of mediocrity (suggest itunes, 1:30 samples there) -- there's a few gems but it's mostly filler and there are at least three tracks that would improve the album by simply being
removed.
The time and seasons go on, but all the rhymes and reasons are wrong
I know I'll discover after its all said and done I should've been a nun.

Meh, just a bargain hunter. The living room furniture (minus the lamps and pillows, which I bought today) was $579. The bedroom was $433 plus a $197 mattress.
I would like to get some nice things for the walls and a rug. I'm thinking of actually try my hand at painting something to hang on the wall.

Processing power has multiplied by a hundred trillion in the last century. I don't think people realize the awesomeness of that. If everything (except population) had followed this trend, we would have 20 trillion cars and 15 thousand planets per person.

No, that's the
current trend for planets, I was applying the trend of computers to planets.
And even then we're not actually
destroying Earth. In fact we went to the moon and have rovers on Mars, so if we consider that we now "own", say, 100m
2 of combined surface outside Earth (yes I know the Moon is not a planet, shut up), we can see that in the last 43 years we have gained about 2×10
-13 planets, or 4.5 quadrillionths of planet per year. Making progress!

Ooooh.
Well,
Pluto should have never been a planet.
And if you go further back (say, 4.568 billion years) you'll find that the number of planets in the solar system has increased dramatically.

Awesome: My computer lives!
Background: the motherboard caught on fire (!) yesterday. Having replaced that, everything else seems fine. I mean, I need to reinstall windows and things, but everything survived being connected to a flaming motherboard.

Thanks phlip, that nearly had coffee all over my desk

As to the cause, there's a blown capacitor on one side and a severely overloaded power trace on the other. No idea which was cause and which was effect, though.

Psh, if gasoline and cardboard can't fix a problem, then it's not worth fixing.

My flatmate and I just bought a nerf gun each.
In the first hour, we've lost three or four darts already. Which is impressive, given we live in student digs.

I'm not picking on you personally, OBrien, but this is a thing that I've gotten a lot since getting to uni and more often than not I'm annoyed by it.

That's fine, I count my 3rd as "just barely [getting] a degree". I'm just bitter that nowdays I'm either: A) working a shit job five days a week for very little money and can't do that shit anymore or I'd get fired, or; B) not working and getting next to no money from the doll office and can't do that shit anymore or I'd have to go hungry.
