Dear body,

I realise that you give me abdominal migraines due to excessive positive or negative stress, so I'm not allowed to be too happy or too worried. This is very annoying when the first few days of my break are spent in pain and throwing up. Then you decide to give me shark week, and a particularly heavy one at that, at a time when I am dehydrated and malnourished, thus slowing my recovery even further. I know that it is exactly 4 weeks since my last shark week, but really - you generally go for about 5, so I feel this is a little bit mean.

Next time, please be a bit nicer to me.

Heh, I was saying this to a pal on Saturday night, that far from ignoring my reactions during Shark Week 'cause "eh, it's that time of month", folk around me should realise that I think this stuff all the time it's just that I don't say anything usually.

In fact, anyone who realises that and listens to what I'm saying and applies it will seem like a genius the rest of the month.

My cat stole my mooncup.

If you leave certain things out at night (hair ties, emery boards, and apparently mooncups), he chases them around the house and hides them.
Hopefully I'll find it before next sharkweek, because I'm really attached to it now. It makes life so much easier!

That is my fav corset place. Good construction and good prices! FWIW they always have sale corsets, and they change as old stock gets added to it. COTD are even cheaper than the sale corsets and are daily specials that rotate every few days. Steel boned corsets as low as $30 for that. I have two corsets from them and love them both.

The waist-in-inches-minus-four-inches is a good measurement for theirs, although I find with the overbusts going minus six inches is best (all steel boned corsets have 6 inch modesty pannel in the back anyway). Overbust the bust measurement is 10" more than the waist. AKA if you get a 28 corset, that's 28" waist and the bust is 38".

The lengths listed are the lengths of the steel front busk, their recommendation for height for which lengths are accurate I find, although I am borderline (5'6.5/7") for their normal vs longlines and I find the normal lenght just a tad shy on me and next time I'll get a longline I think. They do have ultralonglines too for if you are really tall.

Also their new madetoroder steampunk corsets are VERY AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEE and will rotate through being COTD at about $80 instead of the $160ish they are normally. Like this one...Gee Willikers drool http://www.corset-story.com/corset-of-t ... order.html

My (parents') cat does that too! He's never stolen my divacup, buuuut my mom brings home those pill cups from work (15cc/ml sized) and he loves to chase those around the house. And hide them places. I will now be careful when I'm at their house and have Sharkweek/the divacup with me.

There's unfortunately no simple way to explain that.

I guess to start, buying clothes that fit well and flatter your figure is pretty basic. Don't worry if you think your figure isn't feminine, too chubby, too skinny, too muscular... there's always something flattering. Know what colors and styles are appropriate to you and where you're going. If you have a business meeting wear work clothes, if you're going out to a bar casual, red carpet... red carpet.

The most important part is know your style. What image do you want to project? Are you girly? Punky? Sophisticated? Wear clothes that exemplify that.

I'm pretty sure I didn't understand any of that...

I mean, my problem is that I don't know what colors/styles are appropriate/flattering, so telling me that I need to know which ones are appropriate or flattering kind of just leaves me where I am. In fact I don't even know what the colors and styles are, really. Until I was 17 I wore slacks with a t-shirt, and after 17 I wore jeans with a t-shirt, and now that I'm 23 I wear one specific pair of jeans and one specific t-shirt because I'm scared to try any other clothing or waste money on it.

Practically speaking, I need to be able to dress for business since I'm supposed to be getting into a professional field (business casual), and then I guess "punk" is cool maybe but I don't actually know what it is and etc. I just know whatever style of clothing I wear needs to allow for a hat.

I am definitely not entirely fashionable, so if anyone corrects me on any of this, take their advice instead of mine, but I've found for casual stuff simply having some solid color t shirts with thin stuff to wear over does wonders - either a light jacket or a button up thingy, making sure the colors look good together (I'm a big fan of deep reddish hues like magenta and purple as an underthing and a dark (color) light (thickness) jacket on top.

For work, try getting a thin button-up women's shirt? Maybe go to the store and look for what looks good there, at least to get ideas? I've got several shirts like this, which I would be wearing to work if I had more courage (and intend to wear it soon anyway). That goes well with any undershirt that doesn't clash horribly. As for pants, I don't have much to suggest. I just wear jeans off of work, and slacks at work.

Sorry. I was in a bit of a rush when I wrote that. Are there aspects of your figure you want to emphasize? Do you want top minimize things like shoulders or hips? Women's magazines will be able to tell you if an empire, mid or drop waist will flatter your general body type. Or what kind of shoulders to look out for in a blouse. As for color just see what colors you like and how you look in them. Red makes my skin glow, browns compliment my eyes and looks good in the summer when I have a tan but yellows and oranges make me look sallow and washed out so I try to avoid clothes that would put them close to my face.

As for business, fitted slacks or a basic black work skirt paired with a blouse and nice shoes is pretty standard. High waists are fashionable right now and wearing a high waist with a kind of poufy blouse can look very feminine. If you want to be less femme a basic button down tucked into wide or straight legged trousers looks professional.

There are a LOT of women's hat styles. Esp. since mens hats are fair game for us. In a formal setting a hat might not be appropriate but a wide headband or pretty headscarf is still an option. For casual wear I find cloche hats to be super cute with just enough class to travel from setting to setting.

Are there any characters on TV or celebrities whose style you admire? I guarantee you there are sites that will tell you where to find affordable versions of their clothes.

These are all really general. The best thing to do is go to stores and try on whatever you like regardless of how you think it'll look. Thrift stores are great for this because they tend to have the widest variety of styles, materials and all out wackiness.

My shoulders are disgustingly broad. My bra size is 36A. I have a relatively skinny waist apparently, and very skinny hips. This is weird because I can't even figure out sizes for things. My hips and waste suggest a normal or small, but my shoulders suggest a large or extra large. I mostly wear hats because my hair is unpleasant. I'd like to find clothing I can wear to a club, not be misgendered in, but I'd prefer it if it didn't make me feel vulnerable or overly sexualized if that makes any sense and I have the strong impression that anything really really girly would just make me look like a clown. Also, if I can make it work with my biker leathers that's a plus also. Um. Here is an entire album I just made showing things I have attempted to wear, for purposes of demonstrating my incompetence. I'll take a picture of my leathers at some point also and add them as well.

So I mean... I'd be comfortable with dressing androgynously, or in a "feminine guy" way if that makes any sense if I would look better that way. I don't have any particular attachments to a given style or anything, I just don't want to look gross.

I have been going on pinterest.com and clicking on the "Women's fashion" section, and pinning anything I like. It helps me get an idea of the overall styles I actually like the most
