I was merely implying that they are not unbeatable. Of course I'm speaking as a fan. All of you have been speaking as fans and you've even been deriding other clubs such as the one I support. Barca are great and so are we. I know the odds aren't in our favour this season but that doesn't mean that we can't win it with enough coaching. We have a chance was all I was saying. CP was speaking as a disgruntled gooner and I am speaking as a happy Chelsea fan. of course you agree with him, you're a fellow gooner. And that's fine. You made all the rest of the assumptions about what I was saying. It isn't impossible for Chelsea to beat Barca or Real.

I agree with you on principle. It is possible for Chelsea to beat Barca but it will be a stunning upset if it happens. Messi's recent turn of form has been unbelievable.

Before the Napoli game, even I didn't think we'd do as well as we did. Nobody anticipated it. But it happened. It's always been that way with CFC. There is always, always a possibility. It will come as a pleasant "surprise" (for lack of a better word right now) if they do.

I hope we can all agree Man United areembarrassing themselves this evening. Even if Bilbao weren't playing a fantastic standard of football, United are literally not even bothering to try. By my count United have only three attacks and no attempts on goal in the second half. They're giving away the ball in midfield every time they touch it. They're being caught in possession almost evey time they try to move the ball. I'd feel sorry for them, but Bilbao are so good they actually deserve to have it this easy.

I imagine Man Utd are only too glad to exit the Europa League really, they're probably hoping Man City win!

Veeery glad Sporting held out at the end. Aguero bought that penalty, and City didn't remotely deserve a win after 60 or 70 minutes of sleepwalking. I used to like Balotelli, but I'm fast losing respect for him. He's just so angry and sour all the time. Starting on a player for simulating who was just kicked in the head is despicable.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Benfica, Marseille, Apoel.

Yeah, it's still funny.

Apoel v Real Madrid
Marseille v Bayern Munich
(winners to play each other in the semis)

Benfica v Chelsea
Milan v Barcelona
(winners to play each other in the semis)

Well Apoel had a good run anyway! :D

Apoel will put up a damn good fight. Underdog strength will show through. Will be an awesome game. Can't wait for CFC/Benfica. They have a better attack than us right now but our defense is stronger.

For the record, QPR should be relegated on principle. Their supporters are abusive, ugly people who are a disgrace to the game. They just make things worse by associating themselves with Joey Barton.

And yes, I know they beat Arsenal today, but even when they had the game won, they were still at it, even throwing objects at players. Total bullshit.

An important point we've all missed is that Hell froze over yesterday. Not only did Torres score for Chelsea, but Sturridge actually passed the ball instead of just shooting from 100 yards away. Truly incredible.

Other scumbags who need relegating on principle: Andy Carroll and James Perch. Trying to fake red card situations to get a keeper sent off is despicable.

Yeah Perch was a bit of a prick.

Sturridge not passing is a running joke in my house during Match of the Day, so him passing to Torres for Torres to then score just made it even better.

I was very happy for Torres that he scored a good goal to break the hoodoo. Way better than a hacked in, deflected rebound that looked more likely in recent weeks. I'd have liked him to score a winner for it, but this was good enough. It also means I don't have to have sympathy for any Chelsea players anymore!

Had I to choose, I'd say Perch was a fair bit worse than Carroll because he instigated the situation and his faking was more blatant, but that doesn't absolve Carroll at all. I felt bad for Liverpool getting such a nasty reception from the Newcastle fans. There have been a lot of players gone over and back over the years, and fans should really remember all the good players have done for their side, rather than boo them for advancing their careers. I mean, it's not like Newcastle never bought a player off another club.

Also, wooo semis! I hope the game against Barca won't be a 2009 re-run through and through.

Yeah, hopefully Barcelona will have the tie wrapped up long before the last minute this time. On the other hand Chelsea suffering a last minute heartbreak would be sweet.

Can Bayern or Barcelona just win the competition please.

Can they not, please?! I am happy that we've made it this far despite people unfairly criticising the team.

Also, I was talking about how 4 penalties were denied and how they undeservedly won that game but you know there's several ways you could look at a game I suppose. If the tables were turned and if Chelsea would have won that game after the penalties being denied for Barca instead, the very same people who are playing up Barca would turn vile and say how unfair it was for the Spanish side to not win. Oh the hilarity.

Yeah I would be annoyed if the tables were turned, not because it's fair or unfair, but because I don't like Chelsea and watching them miss out on the European Cup in repeated heartbreaking fashion considering all the money they spend is hilarious. And yet again I will say, get the hell over being robbed of a football match. It's happened to all of us at some point.

As for saying Chelsea are unfairly criticised, considering they may yet finish 5th in the league, the criticism they've had has hardly been unfair.

It's not about losing *a* match. It's not just once. It's all the bloody time when we're playing in the CL. Anyone must be blind to not see that. It doesn't matter how much you hate a club, you cannot be that flippant about such discrepancies in the UEFA. Also, I wasn't talking about criticism based on sluggish performances. I am talking about criticism they face even after doing quite well and making a very good comeback.

Dear Arsenal

Third place remains in our hands. So when you play Wolves and Wigan over the next eight days, try to remember the QPR result and don't think both games are won before they've even begun. Thanks.

Further to "people who need relegating for buying red cards", Ashley Young. Fingertips on your back are not grounds to fling yourself floorwards and point to the rule book as justification for your behaviour. Once again, when you have a goal begging, you can't just throw that away that opportunity. Grrr.

Looked like he wasn't going to get to that ball anyway.

So it was offside, a dive, and possibly not even a scoring chance. As a United fan that was embarrassing.

In hindsight, maybe. But at the time, he was past the last defender, and only had to get a toe to the ball to score. You simply must take that opportunity, even if it looks a bit out of reach. Even if it's just a numbers game, you'll surely come out worse off in terms of missed goals, yellow cards for diving, missed penalties and the like.

I noticed also that the other linesman made a very good late offside call after a goal had been scored at the other end. Showing that it is perfectly possible to stick the flag out a few seconds after the event if you know it's right to do so.

Newcastle are doing really well this season. I'd not have predicted them being this high on the tables early in the season.

Poor Sunderland... that was quite a stomping...

It's at times like this that I'm surprised that Lambert doesn't get at least as much recognition as Rodgers.

Lambert is starting to get a lot of credit too, it's probably just because people are more used to seeing Norwich in the top flight than Swansea, so Swansea's season has stood out a bit more. Norwich and Swansea both have to be careful now they don't suffer from second season syndrome like Ipswich and Reading did before them.

So long as Wigan are kind enough to lose their next game! Trust them to really hit form now.

As for Man Utd and Man City, I still think Man Utd will win it, the key is if Man City can get their away form back on track in the remaining games. And if they can beat Man Utd at the end of April of course.

A lot of clean sheets yesterday. It seems strange, but I'm sure I'd find it isn't if I looked into it. It's a pity Swansea lost again, and QPR are out of the relegation zone. (Again, 3-0 up against a team that club has no enmity with at all, and the crowd is screaming abuse constantly.)

It looks like Wolves made a fatal error dropping McCarthy. I really don't see them turning it around in time. It'll be sad to see them go down, and sadder that it was probably avoidable.

I'd City's definitely back in form now, trouncing Norwich like that... Norwich did put up a decent fight, however, which isn't reflected in the scoreline.

I''m a tad disappointed that Everton lost, even if Liverpool did control the second half.

EDIT:

And Swansea, decisively ending their bad streak!

Obviously it was an awful decision for the second goal in the Chelsea v Spurs game. But since it was against Spurs, I was too busy laughing my head off to care. Hope Chelsea can win the final, I don't need Liverpool winning two trophies.

Fingers crossed for the Wigan game tomorrow :(

Yeah, the second Chelsea goal was a bit disgraceful. I also thought Cech should have seen a red for the Spurs goal, and would have had the ref had the wit to play advantage. The rest of the Chelsea goals were really excellent though, Drogba's and Lampard's in particular.
