Read some Jane Jacobs. Nations aren't the fundamental units of economic analysis; cities are. A national currency is a blurry smear of all the nation's city regions, and a depressed city in a booming nation will hurt from a strong currency, just as a booming one in a weak nation will hurt from a weak currency.

I think a lot of people have pretty dim views of the euro, and have done from the beginning. And it's easy to see why; the end result has basically been Germany and France propping up the failing economies of other Eurozone states, and I seem to remember plenty of talking heads calling it when it was rolled out.

Regarding the Bristol Pound: how uttery pointless. It's like exchanging money for vouchers of identical face value, which can only be spent in a limited number of places. Why would anyone willingly exchange real money for this unless it's for a gift or something? I'm a Bristolian, and I can tell you now I won't be touching the stuff.

Alternatively: Germany (and to a lesser extent France) running an exporter's economy with an importer's currency.

I should never have read My Immortal; it's become a gateway drug for even worse prose, and now I can't stop looking for an even more Amanda McKittrick Ros-esque fix.

That's not banning suburbia. That's using financial incentives to dissuade individual ownership of automotive transportation and reliance on mass transit which restricts your population from being freely mobile. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just not the same thing as banning suburbia.

I do wonder if you've thought out your gas tax fully, though, and how it will affect crop yields. Or did you have an unsaid exemption for farm equipment as well?

I suppose I just see a greater harm to trade and free movement of populations when you have to completely change your currency every 50 miles or so.

Don't worry. Take deep breaths and stay calm. I've seen this before.

Your computer has simply been blagotemporally displaced. The effect has never before transferred to any other objects or lifeforms in my experience, so you are most likely not in any danger. However, I would suggest you visit some news sites to see if your computer can see anything that has yet to be posted there. Or maybe check future patch notes for games you play. If you're quick (relatively speaking) you can grab some useful, if confusing, stuff.

Although the effect is usually diminished once you leave the forum where the effect originated (it's always been forum websites so far), so don't expect anything too impressive.

For my fill of schadenfreude, I used to go to the official dota forums, TDA ban appeals section. Some topics had hundreds of pages of drama, deceit, weather analysis, flaming, banning, sockpupetting, clique aggression, pitchforking, treason, grudges, you name it. Extreme activity and virulence, too.
Unfortunately this forum went down a few years ago.

Now I lurk subredditdrama but it's just not the same intensity.

Any ideas?

Drama, mainly. Bunches of highly emotional people fighting each other. Better if it has complexity (such as the aforementioned weather analysis).

Try http://ponychan.net/chan/show on Saturdays (when new episodes air). It helps if you have an understanding of the characters so you can at least TRY to see why some people get butthurt by each and every new episode. Not that I can figure it out, but really, as long as it eventually dissolves into ad hominems, does it even matter?

Like Kansas. Where the only things straighter than the roads are the rows of corn or Kansas itself, if you're looking at it from a horizontal cross section.

Honestly on the whole, organic disorganization has probably got us a lot further economically than any careful planning would have. Granted it has its downsides like urban sprawl.

Our weather really needs to make up its mind. In the past two hours, we've had drizzle, rain, sleet, freezing rain, hail, and enough snow that I can only just see the lights of a building a block away. And they're forecasting a thunderstorm tonight. I'm pretty sure that would be the complete set.

Within an 8 or 9 day span we had tornados that destroyed several towns, four or five inches of snow, and 85F/30C weather.

But no, the global weather patterns are fine.

Yeah the winter in Florida consists of maybe three days around 60 and everything else in the 80s. Now that it's spring (almost) I would consider 80 nice. Two years ago we had a coldfront where it was in the 50s for like 2 weeks in a row. Everyone complained, but I swear it was the best two weeks of my life.
