There was just a conversation about baby-meteor-Dave killing Maplehoof, and the meteors were diverted to entirely different timeframes; so they went *both* to their "intended"/"original" destinations *and* to the new parallel universe...??

Yes, it's like a split into two timelines (which is established as also duplicating the person) except for some reason both of the resulting branches are real and accessible from each other. Terezi's coin flip is the best way of thinking about it.

...Ahem. That's. Actually pretty much exactly how the universe in Homestuck works. If >Gamzee: Fondly regard motherfucking miracles. is ever a thing, you heard it here first.

It's still better explained/consistent than the majority of existing sci-fi and fantasy, and it is possible if you read enough to know what's going to happen (the meteor duplication theory and Roxy/Dirk in future theory have been around for a while). I can take some making stuff up as long as a lot is consistent and there's foreshadowing.

...Anyway. Also an interesting implication is, how do Dirk and Roxy even know who their 'parents' are? They lived in Jane and Jake's time, apparently, so unless they somehow managed to live 400 years (not out of the question >_>), they can't ever have known them. Did they guess? Were they told? How are they alive, anyway?

If Roxy is anything like Rose she has ways of knowing stuff she shouldn't. Besides that they have access to a lot of fancy tech (appearifier, cross-timeline chat) and probably some kind of history archive. As to how they are alive it should be explained when we see them again. Crocker's motivation seems not to be to kill the kids outright but make their session entry hard, I'd like to know why she's acted like this though.

Or, it is indeed reasonably consistent, and well enough explained (though idk if I'd go with "better than the majority"), I just personally find the absence of direct causality vexing. De gustibus.

(coincidentally: tumblr post on gamzee today)

Though, weren't *all* the split timelines real and accessible from each other? The latter might only be in dream-space, I suppose, but "real"-- all the split timelines have been "real". I thought part of Karkat's monologue this intermission was about starting to directly acknowledge how effing creepy and wrong that is. (Though you could argue that message started with the alt-Daves. Just doesn't seem to be widely heard, in-universe or out.)

The "viable" timeline isn't "viable" because it's the best one, the one where everyone lives, the one where the fewest things go wrong. It's because it's the one that leads to the results Somebody wants. Nothing more.

What about one of Rose's "void" sessions is inherently unviable? Why is equilibrium an unacceptable solution? I wouldn't simply assume that it is something inherently bad for the universes or their inhabitants themselves. Sburb has an agenda. There are many, many reasons not to assume it is in any way related to the well-being of the players or the universes they live in.

Also, Roxy isn't a Seer, but she does have the appearifier to look through, apparently. Not saying it isn't going to be explained eventually, just noting it's something interesting that's gonna need to be explained.

After that, I'm not sure whether I ship Dave <3< Karkat now, or whether I want to see another canon c3< relationship, because there's so little of anything on Auspisticing. I guess I want all the meteor buddies to get along.

Karkat <3< Dave seems like it would lend itself better to a stable relationship-polygon.
It's kind of surprising this kind of thing is happening only after the group has been stuck together for a year. Y'know, except for plot only happening when we're watching.

I'd kind of like to see more of the contrast between platonic hate and black-rom.

Is Homestuck an action comic punctuated by humour? Or the other way around?

It's all Homestuck and you shouldn't look at it like it's filler content between the real story.

Given that it's a "member recipe", I really really think it's someone who made a username and posted a recipe. For fun. On their own. 'Cause you can do that on that site. I doubt the company has anything to do with it at all.

Unless you mean that's why they haven't taken it down yet?

Well, it's confirmed now. Alpha-Trollcestor=1/currenttroll.

For some reason that doesn't sit very well with me. I'm a big fan of parallelism, but... so far it's just a little too on-the-nose. A little too exact-opposite. Which isn't any less silly/lazy than exactly-alike would have been.

Yeah, yeah, development, in a few months there'll probably be a few more subtleties, tiny details everyone can point out and be all "O YE OF LITTLE FAITH WITNESS HOW HUSSIE'S PLAN HAS COME TOGETHER". But. Bleh.

Has anyone checked out the fan-music album? I wasn't expecting much, but some of the songs are really good. Sollux's song is like a more badass version of the Earthbound soundtrack, and Nepeta's song has a nice faux-8-bit vibe.

I disliked the latest album except Air for Eclectic Bass (Olive Rogue).

I though it was ambient and atmospheric on most tracks instead of the strong themes of the best Homestuck tracks (Showtime, Doctor, Sburban Jungle etc.) Can't fault the production value, it's just boring.

Yes, this album is better. Also glad to see Checkmate (an older song I liked) make it and also zorg's Rustless Fall because it is the collision of the Pony and Homestuck music communities (zorg cohosts the http://toastbeard.bronyradio.com/ Pony Music Compo). I hope to see more of this because I have 3x the pony stuff that I do homestuck, but Homestuck has all the $$$ from album releases.

Probably quite an impressive performance considering the load they were under, but nonetheless. Trollity troll troll troll.

Anyway now that it's working I guess I'll OH MY GOD ALL OF THE BACKTRACKING.

Spoiler:
My main troubles were:
-Remembering the underground path existed (that's on me)
-Figuring out you could rotate the lanterns (mostly I'd been clicking on the "Call Seb back down" spot apparently)
-Getting down to the vault wasn't hard-- symbol on the tower right near it-- and I lucked out on the cake puzzle first try.

But
the
fucking
SWITCH
which I'd forgotten was there
so I was focusing on the giant pit with the house in
and going back
and fixing the lanterns
and trying again
to brute-force the goddamn thing
until I looked up a damn walkthrough
which pointed me the wrong way twice 'cause the person screwed up and I was trying not to spoil myself too far
and then
apparently it's the PIT that's the red herring and the random SWITCH that is not and obviously the answer there is to point the orange light in the EXACT OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF IT because that will OBVIOUSLY ACTIVATE THE SWITCH HAVEN'T YOU BEEN LISTENING and OBVS THE LAST SKULL WILL APPEAR IF YOU CAN INFLATE THE POD AND
basically

i liked the old flashes much better thanks

>_<

Yeah, that was more difficult than I expected. I didn't have many problems, but I've played a lot of point-and-click games... There's probably a non-negligible amount of people who gave up. (You don't need to solve the puzzle to understand the plot points though, which is good.)

EDIT: Hussie just posted a walkthrough. Never mind.

Yes, the irony is palpable. XD

I've played through a lot of point-and-click games myself, but... gah, that puzzle. Somehow it managed to be complex without making anything seem a whit less linear. There wasn't as much to screw around with as in some of the other games, and yet, if you're unlucky/don't have a walkthrough, you're going to be backtracking everywhere 12 times. 4-5 screens out, 4-5 screens back. No skipping. Nothing new to see. Noticeable transition times between scenes. I'm not saying, like, "WORST FLASH GAME EVER", but if you compare it to any of the other Homestuck flashes, I don't see how it comes out the winner.

Okay, except the Hussie/Vriska flash, I guess you can make an argument there. :P

I blame the light beams from the lanterns making zero amount of spacial sense. The orange beam shooting off into the background somehow made it connect with every point in the foreground, if I remember correctly. The 4th skull was also tiny.

To be fair, tumblr is really really super dumb. It's entertaining because of the amazing people/blogs, but the site is programmed and designed really poorly, and there's a lot of obvious and simple changes that would make it so much better that are being ignored. One of which is the fact that you can edit every single part of a post when you reblog it (including source, and what other people said) so it's not uncommon for people to be completely misrepresented.
