I've wanted to get my family watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes for some time now, but I'm the only person who enjoys sitting in front of a computer screen to get my anime fix, or so I can tell. So I've hit upon the idea of burning all 110 episodes onto DVD for them. My little brother, at least, I think will enjoy them in a couple years (he's 12 now, but I'll tell him to give them a shot when he's 14 or 15.)
Anyway, I can get the episodes (subbed) in two formats: .avi and .mkv. My question is, could I burn them 5 at a time onto DVD, and then put some sort of menu screen in so the watcher can choose the episode? And just as importantly, will the subtitles remain when I pop it into a DVD player?
And before you ask, yes, this is technically piracy; however, the show in question has never, and probably will never, been licensed in the US. The version I have has English fansubs, because no licensed English version, or indeed any licensed merch, exists.
