As a punishment, I will torture you by calling a Steak House (a house called “House” that was steak-ized) with my handy, and tell them “I become a steak! And I will a Schüttel-Shake!”. Then a woman with sillicon breasts, a slip you can see below the mini-rock and the matching brain (hint: not that of a genie) will come to my door, and bring it to me. I open the door, and still she hands me the steak. I get suspicious, and assuming the steak is full of gift, I throw it in the trash.
Well, does this make and sin to you?? … See?

As a speaker of German, I enjoyed your reply, but it's not wrong--as often happens in xkcd, it's just a very specific use.

Edit: Amazingly, this comic is now the #3 hit!

I'd really like to know how you got this picture o.o

Anyhoo, I haven't gotten anything unique. Windows 7, Latest version of Chrome, no referrer: "Earthquake" comic. Specifically mentioning New Jersey (My God-Forsaken State of residence), with a Hurricane in the final panel. Using the Adobe Browser Lab that someone posted earlier however, the same parameters give me the "Lake Diver Killer", mentioning a "Bay" as the location. Odd?

Using my PS3 browser with no referrer gives me the snake comic, but because I cannot zoom out, I can only see the default "normal" panels with only ordinary snake parts.

I think he edited the comic and created that one on his own. I must admit, that's the best looking xkcd edit I've ever seen; it can be easily mistaken for an original drawn by Randall. Or maybe it really exists, I'm speculating here.

Edit: On a closer look, it doesn't seem edited. Seriously, where did you get it from? :)

I've hacked together a script to play with the comic-generation system. For example, these options produce this image.

Source code for the script is here if you want to run it in some other geographic location.

Here's one I haven't seen yet: browse from within the Microsoft corporate network and get:

"This plugin requires approval from corporate. Remember Microsoft employees only speak for themselves and never for the company."

That was with IE9, naturlich.

Challenges to find the GeoIP ones:

* Within the White House's IPs, or other government-owned netblocks
* The International Space Station downlink
* I wonder... from a native Ipv6 address?

In the UK, on my phone (can't post a screenshot), I got a comic saying "Data Error: T-Mobile was unable to establish a connection"

I'm not on T-Mobile (though quite possibly on their network), but that was awesome :D

Apparently that one is slightly different depending on your browser.

It is edited. Yay I fooled people without trying to
The first three panels, of course, are just minor edits, rotations, etc., plus a belt drawn on the girl. For the last panel, the girl is from the last frame of the snowstorm variant, and the guy is from the 2nd panel, but severely reconstructed with the Line tool for a more relevant pose. The Earth is actually the globe from 977, and the chair and table inside are from earlier panels.
Everything else was drawn from scratch by me, mostly using the Pen tool, but I switched to the Brush tool for the cracks, debris, lines of motion, etc.. I also blurred the motion lines a bit, to make it look nicer.

A while back, I made 3 brush presets (well, 2 are honestly just a basic line, at different widths and softnesses) that resembled Randall's strokes fairly well; that's all I've needed since to make something from scratch that looks xkcd-like. Also, I used the normal xkcd font someone provided on the "We make xkcd slightly worse" thread; I don't know the link to it anymore though.

Living in Berlin I got this: Image. I think there is confusion sometimes between the way certain German philosophers used certain words, and how they are actually used by normal Germans. Umwelt means environment, it is pretty much a one to one direct equivalent meaning. Yes the word environment could imply what is suggested here, and it may have been used in that way before, but that is not the dictionary meaning of the word. I can't remember the other examples but I have seen this sort of thing before.

It seems half of what the server does is use the user agent info of you HTTP connection to identify your browser. The other half is the javascript and perhaps looking up the domain of your IP. I wrote a program that went through thousands of user agents and I found these images:

Weird. Currently switching between my work computer and my personal laptop. On my laptop I get the snake variations from Firefox, IE and Chrome. Work computer has IE and Firefox. Firefox gets the snake variations, IE gets the white light/aura thingo.
BUT - if I google XKCD and then follow a link, I get nothing. In both. Just a title, no comic, no alt-text. Yahoo and Bing give the white light/aura thing. Doesn't matter if I use IE or Firefox.

This won't show up in a real copy of Netscape Navigator 4: Netscape supports Javascript (so the "retail" strip that shows up if you don't have Javascript support will be hidden), but the support is "broken" by modern standards, so the jquery script used to actually fetch and display the image will fail to run.

I mean, since he's serving up different comics for different netblocks, I wouldn't be too surprised if there's a comic for people browsing from native (i.e. non-6to4, non-Teredo) IPv6 addresses.

I'm hoping he makes a directory of all the variants for us to see. I can't help but feel we're missing some...

The Aurora one was beautiful, I may say.

This is probably one of the most genius comic(s) he has ever came up with. But I suppose it hits you the hardest if you're on the forum and aware of all the other ones.

I can't help but think that this entire forum thread is all some sort of April Fools practical joke, because no matter what computer, what browser, what screen resolution, what zoom level, even my freaking Kindle, all I get is the lame tunnel.
I swear, a fireball lied to me just the other day...

...considering my brother called me last night to complain that I didn't reply to one of his texts, I'm having a creepily literal "Randall, Get out of my head" moment here.

My apologies Celtic Minstrel, did not mean to copy you.

Actually, I created this account just to share it, guess I am a silent watcher of this awesome webcomic.

I suppose it was useless after all ^^;

Also, once again, not something I thought was a known topic outside of alaska, you seem to have localized knowledge of these places you did these for. And I got the snake one in Safari. I'm a Mac Snow Leopard guy in Alaska right now. Currently having boot problems with my linux bits and pieces, or I'd start screen capping those.
