You guess right. 1 point to you.

I just attempted to put together a State of the Nomic but... I'm so confused as to what has happened since then that I'm afraid I can't. Does anyone have a better understanding, and could you do one?

Carey, may I suggest you amend your motion to make it explicit as to what happens with in progress duels, preferably making it so that Snark loses by default, so that there is no confusion over the tournament.

I cast my vote in favor of Carey's motion to cancel all of Snarky's duels. (now 3 for, 0 against)

I make a motion to add the following rule:
1. Only tradable items may be traded. Currently, points, titles are perks are tradable items.
2. If player A wants to trade something, he/she proposes a deal as follows: "I offer to trade [Player A's offer] for [Player A's request] where both player A's offer and request must contain only tradable items. Player B may accept this offer by writing "I accept [player A]'s trade.", upon which the items defined in the trade will be exchanged between the players.
3. Until a trade is accepted, it is considered an open trade. Each player may only have 1 open trade unless otherwise specified in the rules. Making a new open trade while already having one is penalized with 1 point. Should someone somehow obtain more trades than allowed, they all become void.
4. An open trade becomes void if the player who made it can no longer provide what he/she offered.
5. The player with the title of Trademaster can have as many as 10 open trades at the same time, but much have at least 3 open trades at the end of each of his/her post.

and to give the title of Trademaster to the first person to claim it after this motion passes.
For the purposes of voting, this shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to introduce trades.

I abstain from voting for Carey's motion to cancel all of Snarky's duels. (Now 3 for, 0 against, 1 abstain)
I would vote for it, but I don't have time/too lazy to update the wiki.

I cast my vote in favour of Fiery's motion to introduce trades. (Now 3 for, 0 against)

I make a motion change whose responsibility it is to update the wiki. If this motion passes, the wiki will be updated when someone posts a SotN instead of when someone creates a new motion or casts the deciding vote on a motion. For the purposes of voting, this motion will be referred to as Odin's motion to allow lazy people to cast the deciding vote on motions.

I suppose I have to update the wiki now...

Patzer penalized 2 points for not adding rules for the Bookmaker to the wiki.

I cast my vote in favour of Fiery's motion to introduce trades. (Now 4 for, 0 against). Motion passes, Fiery awarded 8 points.

I cast my vote in favour of Odin's motion to allow lazy people to cast the deciding vote on motions. (Now 3 for, 0 against).

I amend my motion to make it easier to just play a little Nomic at a time in the following way: You will still need to have voted on all active motions in order to be able to make a new motion. The completed revised motion is as follows: Amend rule §01.03 so that it reads:
In order to make a new motion a player must first vote on or abstain from voting on every active motion.

I change my vote on Patzer's motion for an alternative method to encourage voting. I cast my vote against Patzer's motion for an alternative method to encourage voting. (Now 2 for, 3 against, 1 abstain).

I retract my motion for an alternative method to encourage voting.

EDIT: forgot there were motions I need to vote on...

I cast my vote in favor of Odin's motion to allow lazy people to cast the deciding vote on motions (4 vote for, 1 against) Motion passed, Odin awarded 8 points
I abstain from voting on Fiery's motion to introduce trades. (Now 3 for, 0 against, 1 abstain)

I make a motion to alter the wording of Rule 02.02 to replace the uses of "username" with "nickname". Specifically rule 02.02 will read
All official motions must be in bold and italics and begin with "I make a motion to..." Additionally, official motions must end with "For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as [nickname]'s motion to...", followed by a summary of the motion's actions, with "[nickname]" replaced by the motion-maker's nickname. For example, one could say "I make a motion to promote Alex to the cerimonial position of Grand High Poobah of the Nomic. For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Alex's motion to grant himself a meaningless title."
For the purposes of voting, this motion will be referred to as Patzer's motion to clarify the motion-making rules.

Hi everyone, mind if I join in?

I pick the nickname 'null'.

I abstain from voting on Fiery's motion to introduce trades. (Now 3 for, 0 against, 2 abstain) (I'm new, unsure how to update the Wiki)
I cast my vote in favour of Patzer's motion to clarify the motion-making rules (Now 1 for, 0 against)
I cast my vote in favor of Spikey's motion to make it easier to just play a little Nomic. (2 for, 1 against, 1 abstain)

I think that's me got all of them. Please shout at me if I've broken any rules/missed any active motions. Also I believe I can claim 3 points for participating in Nomy.

Hi Null, welcome to Nomic :)

I'm afraid you and Patzer both get penalties because Fiery's motion to introduce trades has already been passed, and therefore cannot be voted on (or abstained from).

I cast my vote in favour of Patzer's motion to clarify the motion-making rules. (Now 2 for, 0 against).

Which section of the rules is it written that a vote on a closed motion is not allowed? I know it obviously doesn't make sense, but I don't see it written down. Given this, I make the following motion:

I make a motion to alter Rule 03.01 by adding a sentence to clarify the penalty associated with voting on a closed motion. I propose changing the first passage of 03.01 to read:
To vote in favor of or against a motion, one must declare one's vote by saying "I cast my vote [in favor of/against] [motion-maker]'s motion to [motion summary]." For example, one could say "I cast my vote in favor of ahammel's motion to grant himself a meaningless title.". No player shall vote for his own motion, and no player may vote for or against a motion more than once (though they may change their vote). No player shall vote on a motion which has previously passed, failed or been retracted; doing so shall incur a point penalty for each instance of incorrect voting.
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to Null's motion to clarify incorrect voting rules.

I make a motion to introduce the following perks:
(each player can have no more than one of each perk at any time unless otherwise stated in the rules)
1) Newbie Protection Perk - this perk is given upon entering the game, and removed once you reach 20 points or more. While a player has this perk, he/she is penalized a maximum of 1 point for any situation where they might get penalties.
2) Egoistical Voting Perk - can be bought for 50 points. Allows you to vote on your own motions (except for the final vote)
3) Extra Vote Perk - is gained be winning a duel. Allows you to cast two votes on a motion instead of one. Cannot be used on your own motions.
4) Protection Perk - Reduces all penalties you get by one, to a minimum of 0. This is applied after all other effects. Is obtained by having at least one title.
5) Multiple Perks Perk - allows you to have up to 3 of each perk. Is obtained by having 5 perks.
6) Leadership Perk - is obtained by having 5 honorable titles. Allows you to have 1 more open trade, motion, bet and duel than otherwise stated in the rules.
For the purposes of voting, this shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to introduce more perks.

Nobody updated my Bookmaker rule into the Wiki. Somebody deserves a penalty.

Any bets? Bet on elections, sports, the next poster, the next motion to pass, duels, the weather, anything you can think of I will probably accept.

Winning lottery number: 80
Fiery wins the lottery with ticket #46
Fiery awarded 40 points.

Buy: Investment for 8 points.

Challenge of the Desert Blade:
Alex feints, Froggy feints. No one scores a hit.

I make a motion to remove to rule prohibiting chess players from making two consecutive moves for their team. For the purposes of voting, this motion will be referred to as Odin's motion to get the chess game moving.
Since Snark left, there's only two people on the white team, and it looks like Tim hasn't been around in a while.
Odilo's List of Hatred:
1. Orangedragonfire - Cat-killer
2. Patzer - Traitor
3. Rupert Murdoch - cancelled Firefly
