Hmm, if I had an odometer on my bike, I'd keep track of that. I bet if I was really motivated(i.e. never) I would be able to hit 10k miles in about 5 years.

Also wish I could get Legend of Skullkeep to run on my PC. Saw it was on abandonia, and downloaded it. Then realized I already had it installed. Tried to play it, but it doesn't work :(

I recall it being a really interesting RPG, and I want to play it again.

Also, if you have vista it is possible to change the computer settings to run that program only (ie it pretends you're an older version of windows when it opens the game)

Yeah, tried DOSBOX and got some bizarre error. Didn't look it up at the time, but if I'm motivated after work I might dig into it more. Part of it is I dug up and started flipping through the game guide that went with Skullkeep. Wow, what a difference between then and now. The guide was almost a mini-novel, filled with jokes and humorous rambling along with the normal information. Now you get a book full of stats that are available on the internet already.

The 10k threads are not tracking a bunch of individuals attempting to individually hit 10k. It's a group thing. The group is trying to reach a total of 10k done by its members. Contribute! If you don't have an odometer, just make a conservative estimate so you know you biked at least that much.

They're fairly inexpensive. If you have a smartphone, you can also use apps to serve this purpose. I use RunKeeper. By itself, it tracks my route, speed, pace, and change in elevation. With an ANT+ adapter, it can also track my heart rate. At the end of the exercise, it takes all that data and estimates the amount of calories burned. It's quite nifty.

Thanks! Four days left until the ride!

After not getting donations in about two weeks or so, I've fallen off the Top 10 Individual Contributors list. It was awesome being on there as long as I was. I'm still astonished that I managed to raise $850 in such a short amount of time!

My phone contract is about to end and the company I got the phone off are offering me upgrades. The thing is, I found that they wouldn't offer me a refurbished phone on upgrade as you can't transfer the number between 2 different contracts on the same company. Odd since they would offer new phones in that manner. It turns out, that's just some arbitrary limitation which can easily be bypassed by transferring your number via another company. Sure it's a bit extra work to transfer my number twice, but it saves quite a bit for almost exactly the same thing.
Lets put the two situations from their point of view, they get my money or they don't. Placing arbitrary limitations to try force me into particular deals doesn't exactly make me want to give them money.

Wow this thread has been idle for far too long. I just figured out that I could, without overloading, almost complete my minor in astronomy next year. 8) It would require me to take some not-easy physics courses on top of my already not-easy engineering courseload, but what the hell, I don't need a life, right?????

I do wish I'd gone for the standard physics degree at university instead of the specialist nuclear and particle physics one. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I learned about it, but it meant I had to miss out on taking more astrophysics.

Agreed. I specialized in subatomic & theoretical, then reslised by the end of the 3 years that I'd have been much better at astrophysics. I guess that's why God gave us postgraduate study.
