Did I win my duel with Fiery? Not 100% sure I understand the rule, but 5 posts have been made and I'm the first, of the two of us, to post.

Hey guys, my internet isn't really a thing at the mo, so I'm not going to be active in this thread for a while. See you all later, hopefully.
One day, I'm going to come home and find you lying on the floor, twitching. I'll ask what's wrong and you'll say "It finished...he stopped updating...it's over..." and twitch again.

the chess is going slowly, if any players want to join the white team that would be good.
Does anyone know what's happening with that duelling tournament? Has it been abandoned?
I make a motion to add another title to the game, being fat. A player who is fat has their point rewards doubled, however, their point penalties are trebled. Fat people may also have up to 2 duels simultaneously. A player can become fat by saying "I am fat" in bold italics. To remove their fatness, a player says in bold italics "I am no longer fat" and is penalized 5 points (not trebled). For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Patzer's motion to add another title to the game.

I cast my vote against Patzer's motion to add another title to the game. (now 0 for, 1 against)

I make a motion allow people to declare titles honorable. Any player may declare any non-honorable title he/she owns honorable. This will make the title honorable for the duration during which the player owns the title.
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to let people honor titles.

I make a motion to add the title of Poobah to the game. Anyone who has gotten at least 3 motions accepted in this game may claim this title. Several people may have this title at the same time. In order to get the title of Grand High Poobah of the Nomic, you must first have obtained this title.
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to add Poobahs.

In this post I tried to buy an investment. I may have messed it up, but I think I should either be penalizied for messing it up, or be given an investment. Can you edit the State of the Nomic to do one of these please?

I cast my vote agasint Patzer's motion to add another title to the game (0 for, 2 against)
I abstain from voting on Fiery's motion to let people honor titles (0 for, 0 against, 1 abstain)
I vote in favor of Fiery's motion to add Poobahs (1 for, 0 against)

I join team White.

I see the move I want to make, but I'm having a little trouble making a link to it. Also the offical rules don't say much about how I have to notify people of my move. What I mean is, is there a highly structured format for reporting my move or is it more relaxed in syntax?

[edit]I got it. I was copying the entire link, just need to top bit. Board White: 16. Bc4

I move that a rule be added as follows: The Arbiter may, at his descrition, wave penalities for any player under newbie protection, if those penalities are for errors in syntax. As an example, forgetting to include a running count on a motion, or incorrectly awarding 4 points because the player has double down. For the purposes of voting this may be refered to as Kyreles' motion to save himself points.
[/edit]

I cast my vote in favour of Fiery's motion to let people honor titles. (now 1 for, 0 against, 1 abstain)
I cast my vote in favour of Fiery's motion to add Poobahs (now 2 for, 0 against)

I make a motion to allow more points to be wagered in duels. When making a duel challenge, a player must specify the amount of points gained by winning the duel by writing in bold italics "The winner of this duel shall receive N points, the loser shall lose M points", where N and M are replaced by numbers. N must not be more than 150% of M; N must not be more than 130% of M if M is greater than 10. M and N must both be positive integers no greater than 50. M must not be more than the amount of points the challenger currently has; if the challenger's number of points drops below M during the duel the duel is declared void and the challenger is fined 3 points. For example, one could say "I challenge Carey to a duel by Drinks at Dusk. The winner of this duel shall receive 25 points, the loser shall lose 20 points". For the purposes of voting, this shall be referred to as Patzer's motion to let players win more from duels.

Edit:removed bit of writing that shouldn't have been there (originally 3rd line said"I cast my vote in favour of Motion #122: Fiery's motion to add Poobahs (now 2 for, 0 against)"

As duels are pretty much mandatory for people with honor, I think there shouldn't be too much at stake there. If you want get more for winning a duel, just make a wager that you are going to win.

I challange Odin to a duel by Drinks at Dusk for the title of Duelist.

My extra vote thing, is it a one time thing? I can vote twice on a single motion with it?

Yes. Although you can get a new one after you have used it by winning another duel.

Am I correct that Carey will post 2 wikipedia articles in this thread and we privately message the link paths to Carey?

I know of no rule that allows you to do this.

Last time we just posted the link paths in this thread... PMs make a lot more sense.

Man, I am having horrible luck with these duels. I've been in 5 and I've lost them all. I'm starting to think becoming the duelist wasn't the brightest idea I ever had. Oh well, I have a feeling I won't have it for long. :(

I cast my vote in favour of Fiery's motion to let people honor titles. (Now 3 for, 0 against, 1 abstain)
I cast my vote in favour of Fiery's motion to add Poobahs. (Now 4 for, 0 against) Motion passed. Fiery awarded 8 points.
I cast my vote in favour of Kyreles' motion to save himself points. (Now 3 for, 0 against)

I accept Fiery's duel for the title of Duelist and request Ky to be judge.
I accept Ky's duel for the title of Duelist and request Fiery to be judge.

I don't know how this will work with two people challenging me for the title at the same time. If I lose both duels, I guess whoever won first gets the title?

I make a motion to only allow one duel for the title of Duelist at a time. If someone has already challenged the Duelist for the title, you must wait until the duel has finished before starting a duel for the title of Duelist. For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Odin's motion to allow only one duel for the title Duelist at a time.

Ky? You're not interested in 30 points for your Newbie Protection? Remember that you can't on to it for too long... once you have reached 20 points it's over. On that note, you get 5 points for having posted 3 posts. Yay.

I cast my vote in favor of Odin's motion to allow only one duel for the title Duelist at a time.

I make a motion to create an honorable title called Samurai. This title is obtained by becoming a Samurai in Nomy 1.0, and makes you much better at duels. You gain 1 more point for winning a duel, and loose 1 less point for loosing one.
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to link Nomy and Nomic even more.

I cast my vote in favour of Odin's motion to allow only one duel for the title Duelist at a time. Now 2 for, 0 against.
I abstain from voting on Fiery's motion to link Nomy and Nomic even more. Now 0 for,0 against, 1 abstain.

I make a motion to create a new method of duelling called Ropes at Sunrise. The duel starts when the judge says so in a post. Both players must privately message the judge within 24 hours of the post with an integer between 0 and 99 inclusive. The first two digits of the first new number of the day to appear after the deadline are taken. Call this number K. (suppose the judge begins the duel at 8pm UTC. on a Tuesday. the deadline is 8pm Wednesday so Thursday's Number of the day is used. Suppose Thursday's number of the day was 4120-5562-3243-1265, K would be 41). If both players' numbers are lower than or equal to K, the player with the highest number wins. If one or both of the players' numbers is higher than K, the player with the lowest number wins. If both players' numbers are the same, the number that was sent to the judge first wins. If one player gets the K exactly they get a 15 point bonus. For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Patzer's motion to add an more skilful method of duelling to the game

Fiery, don't you lose that Newbie Protection Perk right away? It says it's removed once you reach 20 points or more.

And, it's been an hour since the last post, so I have 3600 square minutes. I just won my first duel!

Odin has won a duel against Fiery. Odin wins 6 points, Fiery loses 4 points.

I move that the rules of a duel by Midnight Thread Necromancy be changed as follows. "6. The first participant to score 50,000 square minutes is the winner. 7. At the end of each post, players participating in the duel must include how many minutes they have accumulated." For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Kyreles' motion to make Midnight Thread Necromancy more interesting.

Kyreles: I'm afraid you already have an active motion, so you're not allowed to make a new one. Sorry about that.

Odin: You are in a pleasant little clearing in a lush forest. The sun is shining, the grass is green... the birds are singing in the trees. In the middle of the clearing is a low table, with two crystal goblins on it. Both contain an identical looking fluid that is as transparent as water. One of the fluids actually is water. The other, however, isn't. Kyreles sits across the table, smiling mystically, and then puts one of the goblins in front of you. What do you do?

Odilo wrote:Fiery, don't you lose that Newbie Protection Perk right away? It says it's removed once you reach 20 points or more.

Indeed I do. But behold my sneaky loophole abuse:

I have four perks. I gain the Newbie Protection Perk, and instantly loose it. But for that instant, I have five perks. Thus, I gain a Multiple Perks Perk. Success!

I cast my vote against Carey's motion to require a list of current and past duels as part of a State of the Nomic post. (now 2 for, 2 against)
I use an Extra Vote Perk:

@Arbiter
I request clarification on Rule §05.01. It states that "No single player may have two or more copies of the Double Down perk at once".

Wait... We're drinking from goblins? How does that work? I think goblets would make more sense.

I walk up to the table and examine the crystal goblins. Then, I pull out my lucky coin and flip it, saying while it's in the air, "Heads for the one nearest to me." When it lands in the palm of my hand, I flip it onto my other hand and reveal that it is heads. Putting the coin away, I start to reach for the goblin nearest to me, but stop and look at Kyreles. "You knew I'd flip a coin. You must have replaced my coin with a weighted one, so you'd know which side it would land on." I confidently take the goblin nearest to Ky and drink.

I choose drink #2.

As arbiter, declare that the conflict between rule §05.01 and §05.04 shall be amended in the following way:
Rule §05.01 shall be amended to say: "No single player may have two or more copies of the Double Down perk at once unless otherwise stated in the rules."
instead of "No single player may have two or more copies of the Double Down perk at once."

The wiki has been updated to include this change.

/edit: I meant goblets. However, I won't admit this. So yes, you are in fact drinking out of goblins. They are quite small, and crystalize after death. Thus, they are perfectly suited to drink out of.

In compliance with rule §05.02 this signature may be construed as a promotion of Nomic 16.0
