Odin has won a duel against Ky. Odin wins 6 points, Ky loses 4 points.

I cast my vote in favor of Kyreles' motion to make Midnight Thread Necromancy more interesting. (now 1 for, 0 against)

I claim the title of Poobah.
I declare my title of Poobah to be honorable.
I declare my title of Trademaster to be honorable.

I make a motion to allow people to retract trades. They may do so by writing: "I retract my offer to trade [offer]."
For the purposes of voting, this shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to enable retracting trades.

I make a motion to require a list of current duels as part of a State of the Nomic post, and to include only current wager instead of all of them.
For the purposes of voting, this shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to keep the SotN posts current and short.

I make a motion to introduce a property called hitpoints. These shall be equal to your score in the other game of Nomic.
For the purposes of voting, this shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to introduce hitpoints.

Yes, I've managed to defend my title!
Fiery, why are you allowed three motions now?

I cast my vote in favour of Kyreles' motion to make Midnight Thread Necromancy more interesting. (Now 2 for, 0 against)
I cast my vote in favour of Fiery's motion to enable retracting trades. (Now 1 for, 0 against)
I cast my vote in favour of Fiery's motion to keep the SotN posts current and short. (Now 1 for, 0 against)
I abstain from voting on Fiery's motion to introduce hitpoints. (Now 0 for, 0 against, 1 abstain)

I'll give three points to whoever casts the deciding vote on my motion.

I guess that Fiery will post next.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna be penalizied a point for this, but I wish to change my vote...

I cast my vote in favor of Odin's motion to allow only one duel for the title Duelist at a time.

I only abstained because I was one of the two people currently in a duel for the title and wasn't sure what would happen if it passed with both duels outstanding.

I challenge Fiery to a duel by Sabres at Dawn to 3 points.

I wager 5 points against 5 points that I will win my duel with Fiery before noon, 4/17/12. This wager's name will be Ky's Wager #1"

Charity: Give 3 of my points to Ky.

I make a motion to introduce some new perks.
Extra Motion perk: Allows you to have one more than your maximum motions. (20 points)
Extra Duel perk: Allows you to have one more than your maximum duels. (15 points)
Extra Wager perk: Allows you to have one more than your maximum wagers. (10 points)
Extra Trade perk: Allows you to have one more than your maximum trades. (10 points)
All of the above motions are for one-time use. For example, if you are normally allowed 1 duel and you buy an extra duel, that perk disappears as soon as you are in two simultaneous duels.
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Odin's motion to introduce new perks.

I challenge Fiery to a duel by Ropes at Sunrise.
I challenge Carey to a duel by Sabres at Dawn to first blood.

I guess that Ky will post next.

I cast my vote in favor of Odin's motion to introduce new perks. (Now 1 for, 0 against)

I make a motion to introduce the title of "Newbie of the Nomic". The newest participant of the Nomic game will receive this title. The owner of the title may ask any question concerning the Nomic game and the next poster must answer this question truthfully.
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Mr X's motion to introduce the title "Newbie of the Nomic".

Welcome to Nomic. :)

I cast my vote in favor of Mr X's motion to introduce the title "Newbie of the Nomic". (now 1 for, 0 against)
I cast my vote against Odin's motion to introduce new perks. (now 1 for, 1 against)
I think we shouldn't have this many perks that can be bought with points (I specifically tried to make the ways of getting perks diverse) Furthermore, getting the Multiple Perks Perk shouldn't be this easy.

/edit: you also get a point for guessing correctly. Congrats!

Should be 3 for for Fiery's motion (Carey, Ky, and Mr. X) Motion passed. Fiery awarded X* points.

Arbiter, I request clarification on how Newbie Protection Perk interacts with honor. Penalities are doubled, but also a maximum of 1. So it's doubled, then reduced to 1? Or reduced to 1 then doubled?

*Also need clarification on having 3 double downs. Are they multiplicative or additive. Do you get {4, doubled to 8. 8 doubled to 16. 16 doubled to 32.} Or is it just (4x3)=12?

I guess Fiery will post next.

Nope, the vote was against the motion. So the vote summary was correct.

As arbiter, I declare that penalties shall first be doubled, and then reduced to 1 if a player has both honor and Newbie Protection. To reflect this clarification, rule §04.05 has been edited to include this statement: This doubling of penalties shall be applied before any other modifiers, unless otherwise stated in the rules.

As arbiter, I declare that multiple Double Down Perks are multiplicative, as that seems to be closest to the current text of the rules. To reflect this clarification, rule §04.05 has been edited to include this statement: Multiple Double Down Perks are multiplicative.

I cast my vote against Fiery's motion to introduce hitpoints (Now 2 for 3 against 1 abstain) Motion fails, Fiery penalized 16 points

I cast my vote against Patzer's motion to stop people gaining points too quickly. (now 0 for, 1 against) Using Double Downs to gain more points from motions also makes the penalty from getting a motion rejected larger, so it balances out. As for duels, there is no way to get 16 points or more anyway.
For instance, with honor and 3 Double Down bonuses, I'd get only 16 points for motions accepted while loosing 32 for those rejected if this motion get accepted.

I make a motion to amend section 1 of rule §06.02 to the following:
Anyone may challenge another person to a duel by saying "I, [nickname + titles of challenger], challenge [nickname + titles of challengee] to a duel by [method]." where "method" is one of the prescribed methods of duelling (see below). Example: "I, Tim, Samurai and Honorable Poobah, challenge Tom, Newbie of the Nomic, to a duel by Ropes at Sunrise."
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to make duels more formal.

I make a motion add the following rule:
People are allowed to continue any duel, wager, motion, bet or other official action they have started without penalties, even if they loose the means through which they were first allowed to start them, unless otherwise stated in the rules.
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to let people finish what they started.
(for instance, loosing the duelist title when you are in three duels)

I make a motion to introduce an order for modifiers to points. When someone gains or looses points, the modifiers shall be applied in this order if they apply. When someone makes a motion introducing a new modifiers, it has to include the position in this order. The starting order is proposed as follows:
1 Honor
2 Double Down
3 Samurai status
4 Duel for Duelist
5 Newbie Protection
6 Protection
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to clarify points modifiers.

I cast my vote against Patzer's motion to stop people gaining points too quickly. (now 0 for, 2 against) I agree with Fiery. The risk is higher so the reward being higher is okay.

I have a question about Fiery's motion to make duels more formal.

Emphasis mine. Does this mean that proposing the duel is optional or the wording is optional. It seems that the wording is ment to replace the existing one. If so, then, I cast my vote against Fiery's motion to make duels more formal.

I cast my vote in favor of Fiery's motion to let people finish what they started.

The "may" is part of the current rule, I didn't change that. But it is a good points, so:

I change my motion to make duels more formal in the following way: Instead of "Anyone may challenge another person to a duel by saying..." it shall say "Anyone may challenge another person to a duel. This is done by saying..." The complete revised motion now is as follows:
I make a motion to amend section 1 of rule §06.02 to the following:
Anyone may challenge another person to a duel by saying "I, [nickname + titles of challenger], challenge [nickname + titles of challengee] to a duel by [method]." where "method" is one of the prescribed methods of duelling (see below). I have just received 15 points for winning at chess. which means I can afford...

I have honor
I buy: Remove Fiery's Grand High Poobah of the Nomic title for 25 points
I buy: Grand High Poobah of the Nomic for 35 points
because. 1) Fiery would be able to win after his motions pass,
and 2) because I want to have been the Grand High Poobah at some point, even for a short period of time.

I withdraw my motion to enable the game of chess to be finished. as its already over.
I abstain from voting on Fiery's motion to make duels more formal (0 for, 1 against, 2 abstain)
I make a motion to make an absolute maximum of 2 double down perks. Specifically the relevant part of Rule 5.01 would say "Double Down perk - every motion of yours that passes/fails is worth double the normal amount (which is currently +4/-2). Multiple Double Down Perks are multiplicative. No single player may have two or more copies of the Double Down perk at once unless otherwise stated in the rules. No single player may ever have three or more copies of the Double Down perk. They may buy it, somehow lose it, and repurchase it." For the purposes of voting, this shall be referred to as Patzer's motion to prevent rapid point gain. Because currently with 32 points for every motion passing it's easy to quickly get to 250 points.

Wait.... just noticed its 500 not 250... oops... sorry fiery I was trying to keep the game going didnt notice the rule change.

I make a motion to establish a game of team chess. Any player may join the game as part of Team Black or Team White at any time by posting in bold italics "I join team [Black / White]." Once a member of one team, a player may not switch teams. A player can make a move for their team by posting to the forum in bold italics using standard chess move notation. No player can post two consecutive moves for their team. A player is awarded 1 point for capturing a pawn, 3 for capturing a bishop or knight, 5 for a rook, and 8 for a queen. The player who makes the winning checkmate move is awarded 15 points and every other winning team member is awarded 10 points. For the purposes of voting, this shall be referred to as Patzer's motion to create a new chess game.

Buy: Double Down perk for 20 points

I cast my vote against Patzer's motion to prevent rapid point gain. (now 0 for, 1 against)
I cast my vote in favor of Patzer's motion to create a new chess game. (now 1 for, 0 against)

I wager 3 points against 5 points that the next comic posted after this wager is accepted will contain someone in a hat. This wager will be Ky's wager #1.

I have made my first move in our duel, Fiery. I picked paper. Please pick rock, not scissors.

Also, I have a problem with the State of the Nomic:

Open Trades:

By Fiery:
I offer to trade my title of Trademaster for 40 points.
I offer to trade 25 points for the title of Grand High Poobah of the Nomic.
I offer to trade 10 points for the title of Bookkeeper.
I offer to trade 10 points for an Extra Vote Perk.
I offer to trade 15 points for the title of Duelist.

You don't own the title of Grand High Poobah of the Nomic. You don't own the title of Duelist. You don't own the title of Bookkeeper. At least according to the State of the Nomic. This means you only have 2 valid trades: Extra vote and Trademaster. And I'm not entirely sure you have an extra vote. If so then you only have one valid trade. And the rules say Trademaster must have 3, right? So... clarification?

I guess that Fiery will post next

That's easy. The first part of the trades are what I am offering, the second what I want. I don't need to have the things I want, just the ones I'm offering.

Now 2 for (Fiery, Carey), 1 against (Ky), 2 abstain (Patzer, Odin)

I accept Ky's wager #1

Sorry, I messed that up. You already voted for that motion; the vote for was yours and not mine. The SotN post has been edited to correct this grievous error.

Although I guess it is a good idea for me to my motion if I can...

/edit: also, I accept to be judge. Let the duel start now!

About that:

I make a motion to declare the current tournament a failure and remove it from the SotN post, since the organizer isn't active anymore. For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to get reduce the waste of space in the SotN.

Ky strikes, Fiery parries. Fiery scores a hit! (0 points Ky, 2 points Fiery)
