I think I'll always remember the first time I learned of tubgirl. That was years ago though (how depressing), and I still check every link before clicking it to this day. Yay for the display in the lower left? :?

I still follow random youtube ones on occasion though, caution only goes so far and boredom goes farther.

It's the same way with both of my parents -- My mother is 20 years older than me and my father is 27 years older. Even with just 20 years between my mother and I, you can really tell that that gap exists.

I've actually managed to never click on such a link ever. I've propably seen hundreds of them, but i always hover above links in forum before clicking them and i've never seen anyone redirecting to it with a frame either.

I got sent to lemonparty once because I had no idea what it might be. I was told it involved funny pictures of cats.

My first one was in a forum post, and not just a link, so I couldn't check it first.

You know, I actually managed to make it through most of my life without seeing Goatse or Tubgirl. I heard quite a few references, so I knew more or less what they were.

One day, however, curiosity overtook me... Goatse struck me as not that bad. Tubgirl was the true horror. I still need to bleach my brain.

I remember kids on Diablo II trying to send me things of tubgirl and goatse. Alas, a friend decided to send me lemonparty. So, yeah, got that one. Then some other day, I don't remember how but I got tubgirl. It's just ... it's all a blur ...

I know goatse, but I haven't heard of tubgirl before. Reading through this thread I began to think I had to find out what it was. Reading your comment, I reconsidered.

What the majority doesnt know though, theres over 30 other pictures of Mr goatse as well as a few vids.

Probably 10/10 shock value to most people, but id rate it 3/10 to what can be found on the internet. Although some of those have very limited shock humour value in them.

However, this does inspire me to corrupt the minds of a select group of people who happen to annoy me every day, but i put up with it. Infact its ideal.

Edit: For some reason i imagined the characters in the comic speaking like excited english victorian kids.

This comic signifies a very very weird section of the internet where xkcd and goatse overlap...

I've never actually seen goatse (thankfully), but I did accidentally run into a photo of someone else trying it. Meh. (The worst part was that in the same post, the guy said he enjoyed it... *shudders*)

Tubgirl on the other hand...

hmm... never seen lemonparty *not googling it*

I had never heard of it before. I would save the link, but Rickroll is old now, so there isn't really a point really, because the fad is passed.

Though this did catch me by surprise, I usually follow Rickroll's on purpose because the song grew on me.

The funniest thing about Tubgirl is that they actually pixelated probably the least offensive part of the picture.

All things considered, I'm glad he warned us.

let that be a lesson to everyone, *always read the image title text*

Also, what's worse? that ohki posted an ascii version, or that two people already left it quoted in their posts?

on the brightside, I was able to determine whether I'd seen it before, without having to look at the real image.

... I too have a habit of checking where links go before clicking.

It's funny how, at 22, I can readily see myself falling out of touch with the dominant generation in not too long. Since I dropped out for two years after a year of half-assing community college, I now attend classes with people who are three to four years younger than me but aren't that far behind academically. I always used to make fun of my old man for listening to music from his childhood, but for me, the truth is that there hasn't been anything worth listening to of late (with a few exceptions). I'm having the creeping sensation of getting old by sheer association.

One proposed London 2012 Olympic logo, as reported by the Register story "No goat sex at the Olympics, rules BBC"

The sad thing is, it would still be an improvement over the actual logo....

Yeah, safe and takes half a minute to load... (is the slashdot effect possible on the xkcd forums too?)

But nice list, I've been thinking about making one like that someday. Possibly a script grepping /usr/share/dict/words.... :)

Yeah, you got me, but you also just lost twenty dollars and my self respect.

Goatse was the first for me, after that not much effected me. Tubgirl made me cringe the first time, but after that it was nothing, and lemonparty didn't even make me twitch.
4can and /b/ have NOTHING on ircimages. People put some fucked up stuff in IRC channel topics. I've been so desensitized by that site.

xkcd board you need to stay on top of it!

I had to register just to mention the flickr tag 'firstgoatse' ( Sadly no link for the lazy due to linking rules. )

Not likely, more likely case is that my shared hosting was taking a load from someone else's site. ...but yeah, I basically took a dict, dumped it into mysql with its rot13 and joined it to itself, then stored the result. My two favs are Green Terra, because Terra is Green, and Gnat Tang, because its also a palindrome.

Somewhere on the Interweb, I once saw a page that had the Goatse guy shitting primes...first the 2 came out, then 3, 5, and so on. No way I'm googling for it, though; if you really want to see it, it's probably there somewhere.

I'm not pissed that someone posted an offensive ASCII. It was borderline. But in the future, don't quote stuff like that. It makes it much harder to clean up when necessary.

I hadn't been exposed to any shock sites before I got to college. One of my friends deceived me into seeing all of the aforementioned images. My mind will never be the same.

So which is worse, /b/ or ircimages? I've been briefly through both on dares, but I can't really tell.

I've never seen the one this comic references, or goatse or tubgirl, but I've heard horror stories.

I HAVE been tricked into going to meatspin though. I actually threw up afterwards... but that could've been the stomach virus I had.

For all the old farts like myself (I'm 43) who need a primer on what's being discussed, go here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_site

And hey, every generation has its weird nostalgia!

Of course, I can't think of anything right now to back that up - though I'm sure what seems normal to me would baffle my father.
