On October 10, 2010, my friend Julie Martin died of breast cancer. She started her Pity The Cancer!
blog a month after her diagnosis on July 30, 2007, to be continued by her husband Brian after August 2010. Perhaps in 10 or 20 or 50 years, uncured malignancies will be a thing of the past, and blogs like Julie's and cartoons like Randall's, captured forever on the internet, will be how the world remembers our challenges and our brave responses.
Perhaps these words and images will help motivate the scientists who develop the cures, and those who fund them. That may bring about cures a little faster, and save millions from pain and death. I like to think that every poignant cartoon Randall draws may help save many lives -- including his wife -- while saving an important part of our culture and times into the far future.
Randall, thank you for sharing this with us, now and forever.
