6120.1 + 6.2 = 6126.3

I attach a graph of our overall progress. Each dot corresponds to a page of the thread (this is why the graph is not yet past 6,000 miles: that will happen when we complete this page). The only obvious pattern is that we run more in summer and less in winter.

@sfwc: that's brilliant! Thanks. Is it possible to get the data behind that? I'd be interested to know my personal contribution.

So, seriously, what's the view on running a marathon? I run a half marathon each year and usually run between 1hr 44 - 48'. The step up from doing a regular 8-10 mile Sunday run to a half marathon (with crowds and a bit of an adrenalin boost) isn't much of a problem. However, I don't think I've ever finished a half and thought 'you know, I think I'll go around again!'. I just think the training, fitness and time commitment is at a whole different level, and one I couldn't keep up afterward if I did it. On the other hand, do I want to pass up what be my only chance to run the London Marathon? I'm not getting any younger.

What do you think? Anyone ever run one?

Most I've ran ever was 25km the other day... (posted it here) I did it because I read somewhere that a rule of thumb for a run is that if you're able to run X distance you're able to run 2X...
I was wondering wether to join a 50km race and that 25km left me feeling sick, like when you're about to catch a cold... so I didn't join.

My uncle, who rans the 50km every year and has done some 100km runs told me probably I was running too fast for me. and that's posibly what happened, I started too fast, the pace I do for my 10k runs (between 40 -45 min 10k) so by the time I hit km 18 I was sucked out of energy and crawled my way to 25 at very much fast walking speed... I mean, pace is something you must completely control when running a longer distance, even if you feel you're going too slow, keep at this or later it will kill you. A podometer would be good idea and set for like 10 mins more each 10 km than you usually do...

I'm no expert though. There are many sites with marathon training plans...
But I don't think those distances are good for the body. My uncle's wife is always angry at him and his friends because she says they end up so worn up and exhausted, even days afterwards...
But doing it once seems like a must :D

6130 + 3.1 = 6133.1

First 5K test of the season is done! Checked in at 26:01. Aiming to beat my PR of 22:42 by the time the snow hits.

I've added a few people and the `Bike 10,000 miles' thread to the graph (dots every 10 active posts). I've also attached the spreadsheet I was working with (though I had to export it to excel format to get the file uploaded, which might have changed it a bit).

Thanks for the extra data, and the more refined graph, diabolo. Can you provide it in a format other than tsv?

You're welcome, which other format(s) would you be interested in (and are we talking only about the file format or also about the structure of the data)?

Oooh, that graph is awesome. Sorry I haven't been around. It's finals time. I have clocked in some miles, just haven't had the opportunity to tally them just yet, and my log book is over there right now...*reaches* nope.

I was going to ask for csv (I don't have a converter), but don't worry about it. I belatedly realised that the conversion is easy enough to do with a `find and replace' tool. I would, however, be interested in a similar dataset for the `Bike 10,000 miles' thread, or (if you want to share it) in the code you used to pull out the data.

It's my birthday! (which means I'm now very, very old by the standards of this forum (but still younger than some buildings)).

My wife got me one of the Nike Fuel band gadgets that's just been launched in the UK. Anyone had any experience with this thing? Once I've got it charged and set up the software I'll let you know how it works out.
