You did say they are 'unplayable' upon release. As noted, in my roughly 10 months of playing, there has never been a champ I've found 'unplayable' for certain. I'd argue there's not been any that have been just completely unbalanced either. A little overpowered? Sure. A little underpowered? Maybe. But the idea that Riot is completely incompetent when it comes to balancing a released champ (at least recently) is absurd. And yes, bugs happen, but for the most part, any major/gamebreaking bugs are handled quickly.

One nerf since release. I'll give that on the first week, I was terrible and was convinced she was underpowered and couldn't do anything useful. After about a week though, I had come to understand her better.

That does not count as being underpowered, since "still figuring out" a champion is not a reason not to play the champion, especially if you're the kind of person who likes doing that yourself rather than just reading guides. Personally I had a lot of fun experimenting with different Lulu builds when she just came out and people didn't know how to play her.

That is true, I picked a poor choice of words. Lulu was good everywhere but jungle, which is why she was banned so much and then nerfed the patch after release.

I didn't think I'd like the genre this much (this is my first RTS). I'm still brushing up on the basic terms and strategies (a metric fuckton, might I add) and I haven't even touched the lore yet!

Story from the frontline: Just had a battle where I got 8/2/(0) after laning phase, and then our soraka flamed the living shit out of everyone and fed 0/10.
After ignoring the Soraka and the LB that was flaming with her, called in our J4 and Graves who were acting normal, and with LB's help after she ignored Soraka, won the game. A 20 minute surrender got turned down 3-2. I felt quite pro there.

Where does this idiotic trend of saying "easy" come from? Doesn't matter if my team or the other team; especially if it was a game with afkers or leavers on one side. It makes you look like a 12 year old.

On another note, laning top against Olaf every game (as Irelia) is stupid. They nerfed Hiten Style when he has more sustain, more true damage*, more defensive properties, and an ult that is useful for more than clearing a creep wave. As if Irelia was ever OP (ever seen her tournament stats?). Hiten Style should've been nerfed by 25%, not a whopping 50%. People complain about her true damage but the point is, without it, you'd need to build almost purely damage, which would not fit with her design.

I hear people in /all chat complain to me how OP Irelia is when they can't do anything against me, get out-CS'ed by 2:1 etc. Well for one, don't autoattack, and if you're not Olaf or Udyr or Yorick, don't trade with Irelia.
*For most of the game.

I bought Ahri a few weeks ago, she is very fun, but the problem I have with her is if the other team is decently tanky, I just can't do enough damage to make her a better choice than say Brand.

Her mobility is like 100000x better than brand

That is true, but she doesnt dish out the damage to make even a moderately tanky bruiser pause, her aoe ends up going to too many different targets and getting dispersed with minimum effect in a team fight, where as brand can just let loose and all his aoe hurts everyone equally, a lot. I realize that Ahri should try to focus the squishy carry, but against a mostly bruiser team, you are gonna have trouble getting to the carry.

Ahri's strengths aren't her damage, though. She's strong in lane because of her sustain, especially once she gets blue buff and a WotA. She also compliments a poke team nicely. Sustains herself, can punish anyone who overextends with E, and can escape better than any other champion. I guess she's sort of pointless if you have a more aggressive team though. If you have like a Shyvana jumping on them, a Riven beating them up, a Trist to kill them and a Sona to do her sona thing, Ahri is not really going to contribute as much as a more bursty mage.

Anyway, I haven't been on for a while, but I'm omgrye. Not incredibly good, but I actually enjoy playing support, and I'm not half bad at it. I still need to grind out the last 2 levels to 30 before i can play ranked though

Deathfire grasp works very well on her to compensate for that problem.

What I enjoy as Ahri is the mobility and the true damage from her q.

But I'm levelling as Tristana mostly. I'm 13 now. Also skeptical scientist is a nice fellow. ^^

So, since Leona has been free, I've been playing her a bit. She is absurd amounts of fun in lane. I've played roughly 6 games with her, and I can't recall losing my lane once. Unfortunately, I think I've only won the game twice. I remember on two occasions other lanes bitching about another lane feeding, and seeing that while top/mid enemy is 5/2/2, our AD carry is 5/1/3. I've always kinda been of the opinion that if I was 'good' I could ensure victory in any game. I'm starting to believe that's just not feasible.

Also jungled Leona, because why the hell not? It's actually not bad, slow clear time, but never near death on first clear, and with a philo, she stops losing life. Ganks are awesome. In the end though, no reason to actually do it outside of for fun. Nautilus is nearly as strong of a CC machine (Leona probably has a slight advantage), clears faster, initiates just as well.

Try broodmother in Dota. If you have very good micro (surrounds, multitasking, animation canceling, looping reinforcements, path blocking, all at the same time) and are facing weak heroes, you can powerfuck their towers + barracks in 7-8 minutes by yourself. When other lanes come to the rescue, hide in a web. When they are away, resume killing.

Even if your team is really really weak, this should give them such a large advantage victory is very much in your grasp.

As an added bonus you will still be horribly powerful late game.

So, I finally jumped through the hoops of getting myself a Korean account. Communication is a bit of an issue, but I can understand a little Korean, so I'm alright with the basic stuff (and I've worked out the Korean for top/mid/bot and leash so far from playing). Had an up-and down day, with one awesome game with Garen (where I just totally roflstomped my lane against an Akali, then was so overfed I could 1v2 any enemy champions - went something like 18-4-10). Then I had a run of losses just before I was going to go to bed, but I thought I'd try one more game, and had my best game ever with Sona, finished 4-0-34.

I think support is actually my favourite role. I can play some AP champs, I'm absolutely dreadful at AD carry, I'm decent as bruiser/tank, but the support stuff just seems to come naturally. And Sona's really cool, I love her early-game poking ability combined with the sustain she gives the carry - makes it hell for the enemy champions laning against her.

I had a 5 win streak as Ahri. My best games were with a team that included a Kennen and a Jax. Dunno if it was synergy between the champs or us summoners. :D

So a new patch is going to be released with Darius and graphical upgrades, it's awesome. How long do they usually take to release them?

Patches with champions are usually every two weeks. The Darius patch should come out next tuesday, I think

I tried darius on the test server, and he is very overpowered. His abilities barely cost mana, he has tons of harass, tons of damage, and a frigging true damage execute that scales off his ad.

If you do not spend time to stack up the debuff, it's only slightly stronger than Olaf's E lvl 5, being an ult and having a huge CD though. I suspect his OPness will come from the stacking, scaling passive he has if he is OP on release. The rest doesn't seem that superstronk to me.

Go try it if you dont believe me. Getting 5 stacks is pretty easy since the q and w add stacks, and unlike olaf's e, you can use it to chase. So if you grab someone, hit them a few times and they flash away, you can just ult them and hit them a few more times, for an almost sure kill. Also the cooldown is refreshed by killing someone. So at the end of a team fight....

His grab is ridiculous, since you cant hide behind minions, it just scoops you all the same. It makes for ridiculous counter jungling, since you can grab creeps from outside the respective areas. His ganks are stupidly awesome, since you can flash+ult from the bush and land on someone, and when they try running you grab them back towards you.

Also, triforce on darius is hilarious.

I'm enjoying Cassiopeia lately. She's not the sort of character that I'd normally go for. I like control mages such as Morgana, Janna and Lux (if Lux didn't suck), whereas Cass has only her ultimate for controlling. The rest of her abilities are pure damage and two of them are so similar that I haven't even thought about which to level first. What Cass does provide is huge gobs of damage that can take down massive tanks in seconds, and that carries have to dearly avoid. It's quite refreshing.

I tried to play a game yesterday, after a year long break, and I always got the message "cant' connect to server".

I turned my firewalls completely off and same message.

Any ideas? Is there a manual update or patch I need to DL?

Don't think so but if nothing else works it might be worth a try to install it from scratch.

I'd just reinstall. Patching takes so long that if you're really out of date, it may just be faster to reinstall from scratch even if the patcher was working since I think they update the installer.

Darius is obviously getting a nerf, but so far I've beaten him with teemo twice and olaf once all played by >2k elo players. For all his damage, he has no sustain, is easily ganked, and can be kited with ease.
At the moment, everyone is playing Darius top. So if you're playing blind pick (or even draft), just pick a counter.... or lose the lane.

They broke the HUD text... it's blurry on my screen.

Crazy match making again in the early hours of this morning... first game with fnatic xPeke (Top LoL player. At #20 in solo q), second game with ASES TrúKes (Currently sitting at #17 solo q rank), third game with a lvl 10 and 18. Rather annoying that I was trying out support-plank when playing vs ASES TrúKes, and he was playing Varus (Our lane was beaten, but their Darius destroyed our team).
