-Annie has taken on some of Abed's Genre Savvy meta-commenting powers. She can see that she is in a horror movie scene
yeah that bothered me.
-Troy has lost a seemingly large portion of his knowledge of how sex (and the initiation thereof) works.
that happened a long time ago. But they definitely have made Troy just silly this season. He just doesn't know about "all of the kinks" that doesn't mean he doesn't know about sex, he and britta just hadn't had it yet.
-Shirley has changed her view of Britta from A Godless Disrespectful Hussy to A Modern Woman With Experienced Tastes
Shirley was being careful with the words she chose as she was talking to Troy, and her emphasis regarding such things has always been a wee bit shifty, but yeah we haven't seen any Shirley Lord fury yet this season.
-Jeff has changed from a "good-looking tryhard" into a "good-looking womanizer". He also seems alright with sexualizing Annie now.
I don't remember this happening any more or less than before. he's always sexualized Annie, he's just also recognized he shouldn't be. They kissed at the end of season two, remember?
Yeah the show got ral campy this season. And I hate to say the phrase "lost a lot of its edge" but they are totally playing it a lot safer for some stupid reason. The Halloween episode was ok, but the Convention episode, the first half at least, was terrible. It started to turn around when Abed and the british guy had the conversation about neurotypicals getting distracted and needing to find other meaningful things in life, and Abed did his Jeff impersonation. I like seeing abed "do" Jeff, and do it well. from that point on the episode got a little better, but it was still purty terrible. No one is enough of an asshole this season yet, though, and we should have gotten to SEE Minerva. It does bother me that "The doctor" is always a white British male, and they had to "write out" the continuation of River Song by claiming she used up all her incarnations in one go to save The Doctor. But it's salvageable, they could always claim they'd been wrong. She would be a great character/plot device/etc. to keep around infinitely, she was sewn in so masterfully. Why not a River Song in the universe, and a Doctor. Why not reseed the universe with other Time Lords? I don't think it Breaks the game integrity.
Also I found Shirley's bit about "I think what Abed likes about the show is it's smart and doesn't talk down to its audience." annoying. I had send Community_NBC that exact tweet, basically, last week, cuz I'm useless like that. I can tell my wife "you want a husband that shows you how much he cares every day." but saying it isn't the same thing as being it.
And there's something wrong with like, the editing/staging and pacing. If I were a film maker, I'd know how to fix it, but I'm not. I'm just a person with a useless college degree.
Jeff was the only character who felt right in the first episode. halloween was better but still not there, and I will probably watch the next episode cuz I don't have a job right now and am terrible at life right now, but if that is bad then I'm probably done except that I'm a devoted little doggie who will watch as my master drinks himself to death, and then eat his face cuz it's the only thing left if the house.
