Imediatly before Helper showed up with his understatement of the fora*:
Helper
I guess a missed a little

there was some snarking on jdj42 for posting
jdj42
May people please remember to post the comics?

by
Goggalor
Relax, it was posted 2 outsider minutes after the outsider hour.

SinusPi
May people read up? You're like 10 posts late ;P

Caswallon
Seriously? Read about 20 posts above yours.

and I just want to point out that the same thing happened over at explain-wiki for the OTC (in case you missed it)

Near the end of the transcript, it says that at +847 Beret Girl drops in again, dragging something. I used Photoshop to lower the brightness, and can see about half of her head facing away from the sandcastle. She's not dragging anything. Here's my evidence: [>a link to a pic I'm not going to deal with<] 108.51.68.241 22:24, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

And followed by Larry posting this:

I added a section for normalized versions of the first 10 hours of day 36. If anyone wants me to add more, e.g. go back to where the fade started, I would. BTW, I used something like 'pngtopnm $i | pnmnorm | pnmtopng > $j' inside a loop. Those commands are from the NetPBM package. Larry (talk) 23:33, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

What makes this notable to me is about 30 or so lines above (written DURING the Fade) there was a lenghty discussion about all
of the frames involved and "Mark Hurd" posted a clever way of making the faded visible.

Was there some in the water I missed????**

Not a lot really. BlitzGirl arrived, everyone thought the comic was going to end, and Helper came back, but other than that, it's been quite peaceful.

Is it proper etiquette to insert a retroactive "penis"?

EDIT: Never mind -- His Popeness has already made a wonderful retro-speech, without a dash of penis...

It is, but you have to be careful, otherwise you end up with a retroactive pregnancy, and of course a retroactive baby. Which is dangerously close to 'radioactive baby'. Which would be awesome.

Anyway, 400th is edited.

Sorry, I'm falling behind in the OTT... too much outside stuff :-(

Anyway - new forum data update available, with links to malformed posts (tags misaligned, if the posters could correct, that would be cool)
http://xkcd-time.kieryn.com/Default/ApiHelp

Some improvements have been made to the describe feature.

For performance, I've removed the text/search function from the Posts API calls. Instead, you can use the Token version to find specific keywords etc.

The User Posts By Day charts are of course still intact and I intend to expand on the functionality here.

P.S. Welcome back Helper and HAL!

Uh... I don't know if you can because I'm not sure I'm in-communicated... Let's see...

First I was a Timewaiter, then had a battle with the Meno-pause (and was saved from my heresy by buffygirl), then tried to start an enlightement ("what if there's a universal law of pixelization?"), then was absolved by buffygirl, then helped start the Knights Temporal which, while Timewaiters, were not part of any formal sect (see the wiki) and even made buffygirl pout, then had a fling with Eastern mysticism by offering the "Tao of It", and then tried AGAIn to start an age of enlightenment, then was absolved by buffygirl again (and she even made my avatar a GORGEOUS hat), so, um, I'm still a Knight Temporal, and I still Wait for It, and uh, yeah... I guess I'm in-communicated...

But I will ALWAYS still Wait for It.

EDIT to say: Uhhhh... Wait. You weren't talking about me, were you? So, ummm, never mind...

For the moment, I'm going to say it's artifact from the image creation. The boundary line is dead-level straight across the image; how often have we seen that so far in Time? Furthermore, the three downward streaks look accidental.

But I've been wrong before.

Ok I think I know what they are. When he was gimping/photshoping the image he starts with a black base line of coffeesnowicesandwhateveritis. And the draws more black coffeesnowicesandwhateveritis in a random line to make a new scene. But he accidentally used a grey mustard colour selection instead! He just drew some random lines and some hit the coffeesnowicesandwhateveritis leaving the grey lines. Then he just uses the fill tool to fill in the area.

So now we know the Great Randall's method of drawing!
