Cuegan appears to be moving, but the mustard remains the same! It distracts from the narrative of the One True Comic!

Clearly, the mustard is heretical.

I think it was discussed a bit, but who knows how to find it?

For instance, there was talk of the sandcastles being on a sand bar at the mouth of the river. There are shingle beaches where the river runs beneath the shingle out into the sea and only breaks through on the surface at high tide (my favourite example of this is the River Horner at Porlock Bay, see the "Geomorphological" section).

I think the contrast could be to give an impression of the sea, the lines being crests of shallow waves at a narrow angle (almost parallel) to the beach. That could explain why the lines seem the same.

Relax, it was posted 2 outsider minutes after the outsider hour.

May people read up? You're like 10 posts late ;P

Caswallon
Seriously? Read about 20 posts above yours.

and I just want to point out that the same thing happened over at explain-wiki for the OTC (in case you missed it)

Near the end of the transcript, it says that at +847 Beret Girl drops in again, dragging something. I used Photoshop to lower the brightness, and can see about half of her head facing away from the sandcastle. She's not dragging anything. Here's my evidence: [>a link to a pic I'm not going to deal with<] 108.51.68.241 22:24, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

And followed by Larry posting this:

I added a section for normalized versions of the first 10 hours of day 36. If anyone wants me to add more, e.g. go back to where the fade started, I would. BTW, I used something like 'pngtopnm $i | pnmnorm | pnmtopng > $j' inside a loop. Those commands are from the NetPBM package. Larry (talk) 23:33, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

What makes this notable to me is about 30 or so lines above (written DURING the Fade) there was a lenghty discussion about all
of the frames involved and "Mark Hurd" posted a clever way of making the faded visible.

Was there some in the water I missed????**

Not a lot really. BlitzGirl arrived, everyone thought the comic was going to end, and Helper came back, but other than that, it's been quite peaceful.

**There must be because all of the sudden ther'es all this Elder Statesmen showing up.....

I like this. It reminds me of a science fiction story I read. A scientist was collecting clippings from newspapers about odd things happening - (can't remember any examples, but er, an unusually long queue forming at a public urinal, that sort of thing) and he figured out that these were on the increase and the cause was that, well I don't remember the rest.

You can't tell for sure3, maybe BeretGirl/LaPetite1 is destroying the castle as we speak.

1I only just saw the normalised fading images on the wiki after having been away for a few days2
2I have been checking the OTC and Aubronwood every day, but not the Forum or Wiki

AAAAAH! Finally, I reach my favorite Timeframe in the whole comic :D (up to about two week ago erm, April 15? Where I stopped following the Time Comic so that I could follow together with the people from The Past - So that, I'll never know what happens in the comic until I reach the pages in the thread where those TimeFrames appear)

Yes, I had already seen it but it's not truly appreciated until you follow the whole realization of the Castleception and read people calling in the tiny trebuchet before it happened :) - Once again, time well spent, I'll continue to catch up religiously. Sorry for the delay people replying to me, I'll probably reply to your replies by June!

Is it proper etiquette to insert a retroactive "penis"?

It is, but you have to be careful, otherwise you end up with a retroactive pregnancy, and of course a retroactive baby. Which is dangerously close to 'radioactive baby'. Which would be awesome.

Anyway, 400th is edited.

A glow in the baby would be AWESOME!!! Also thank you for the thank you.
but if the baby is radioactive won't it get... cancer?

No, it'll get cured of cancer.

Re: 1190: "Time"

Frame numbering...

First, let's try to determine the theoretically ideal frame numbers. For that, we first need a non-heretical definition of the Outside concept of “day”.
Let's define a “day” as a period of either 24 or 48 newpix. “Days” are numbered, starting with 1 at the beginning of Time. The first 5 “days” consist of 48 newpix, any following “days” have 24 newpix.
In an ideal world, a “day” maps perfectly to the Outside (and thus heretical) concept of day, in the (North-American) EDT time zone.
So, ideally, we should now have arrived at newpix 7 of “day” 38. This means that the ideal frame number (when starting at 1) at this time is: 5×48 + 32×24 + 7 = 1015.

Now lets have a look at the various archives.
The Book of Aubronwood is at 1014, Book of Geekwagon is at 1015. What's the difference? Well, aside from frame 1 (for which the original newpix is lost in Time and both are using a reproduction), Geekwagon has a frame 683 which is missing in Aubronwood.

Now does that mean that Geekwagon is completely in line with the ideal frame numbering? Not necessarily, but I checked a sample of first frames of the “day” with the logs of my frame downloading script, and it's always the correct one.
So I think we can declare Geekwagon the Official Keeper of the Frame Numbering.

You could always double check the forum posts from that time and look for hashs

Also someone needs to upload all the mustard frames for posterity!

I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader.

Okay, I tried to filk Conway Twitty's "You've Never Been This Far Before," but I'm too coma-deprived, or something. Sometimes the Muse strikes me, sometimes the Muse goes on strike. Pum pum pum.

As far as the hats go, I think it's safe to say that I'm pretty well set. Unless my hat, pre-dating Time itself, needs a hat of its own??

Just to explain that 683 mystery, that was one of the times when the server was stuck after (all times EDT) the 08:00 frame 681, there was no NewPix at 09:00 or 10:00, until at 10:42 we got frame 682 and then at 10:49 frame 683, and at 11:00 regular updates resumed with frame 684. So, a regular script could easily have missed that one in the short time it was still the current NewPix.
P.S. I am Randall, but not that Randall.
We can rebuild it. We have the technology. We can make it better than it was. Better … stronger … well, maybe not faster.
Well, BlitzGirl is experiencing a bit of a title wave.

I ran my “compare frames as downloaded with frames on server” script on the mustard soup images. Here are the results:
