Alas, the Outside calls with nags of customary-beginning-of-the-month-bill-paying. Adieuos.

Oh well. At least we still have our sandcastle.

Yes. And ethernet ports, if you catch my drift. We can do a little... networking.

Cueball is about 40px tall, so they've already traveled almost 500 yards :)

How much is this?
(I know I can Google it, but I prefer make the people use SI units.)

oh it's a little less than a tenth of a mile. :D

Not sure if you did that on purpose or not, but you're confusing yards with feet. 500 yards is about 2/7 mile.

Aah! I shouldn't take days off, you guys made more than 20 newpages since I last read! Some comments as I blitz back up to the present, written as I come through the thread (so if I seem a little schizophrenic, there's a good reason! Well, also I'm a little schizophrenic)...

This was absolutely fantastic, you're amazing BlitzGirl :D I quite like your impression of my avatar, I think I shall wear it proudly until such time as Buffygirl is done with my hat ;) *poke*

The bag-themed Time titles were utterly hilarious, and quite quick to get through ;)

The loopist tease made me all  but then I was all

Oh me yarm! Helper's back! :D Welcome back Helper! And HAL! Wow, so many nice things all at once :D

The mustard frames are quite intriguing, though at this point we have enough condiments to make a pretty good sandwich, I think. Glad it's gone, though.

Vytron wrote:Special thanks to: ChronosDragon's Newpix-O-Meter that I see every time I read his posts. It gives me a better sense of time than my computer clock, and it's kind of cool to see when a newpix is about to appear.

No problem, though I bet you'll miss it for that 20 page duration :P

The steam bottle? What could it be?

mscha wrote:http://www.mscha.org/tmp/xkcd/index.cgi now lists, for each frame:

  • link to image on XKCD servers;
  • If the above images are different, link to image showing differences.

Yay! More archival! Redundancy is good :D

Ooh, a river! And I'm so close to the present now too! Can't wait to see what happens here! There are other rivers! Woo!

Oh sure, everyone forgets to welcome me back

Woops! Welcome back Opiboble also!

While it certainly is more pronounced here than elsewhere, I think that pretty much describes the whole internet.

I would say it is a slow moving river, as most are once they get to the flat lands before the ocean. Also I don't think they are a bit inland so you wouldn't have waves coming in from the ocean, hence it is relatively flat

Not really. Water doesn't need to be very deep to totally obscure any unevenness in the landscape it's flowing over, and the fact that it's flowing tends to suppress any waves.

I was concerned he was going to fall in actually. :) But it will be curious how he reacts if he drinks it.

Well, the sea¹ was pretty flat too, even though it was rising and thus should have had waves.

Nope. Can't. Whatever, yay for Abney Park!

Eject your CD tray, I'll slap it.

That sounded kinkier than I intended.

Do HAL 9000s even have CD trays?

Yes. And ethernet ports, if you catch my drift. We can do a little... networking.

I say! *fans self* ...is it getting hot in here?

Sorry. I'm doing quite a few... computations.

Do you prefer Cat 5e or Cat 6?
Do you like your pairs twisted?

Added: Or maybe you like your ethernet thicker.

I also have a firewire port, if you're into that.

Aah! And here I am stuck in the days of serial monogamy. XON, XOFF. XON, XOFF.

Kinky! I like doing it old school!

What, like bit-twiddling using only lights and switches? This is getting steamy...

Perhaps it is a more viscous liquid than water, and therefore less affected by wind/motion?

This could be a rather short encounter, then.

Maybe the new-pix was taken when there was no wave present in the frame?

I've managed to catch up so I am only 18 newpages behind ...

A few very quick random answers and observations I noted down as I traversed the past-pages ...

Mid-40s Brit,

Blitzgirl: Awesome comic! I am stunned.. (And so pleased to be mentioned.)

There were lots of loop theories when Megball stopped to sit on a slope.. These seem to have been resolved when they set off walking again. Phew!

Oh, and way too many Bag Gags when reading through all at once....

Now it's coma time.. Don't write too fast y'all !

Out of curiosity, how many hat requests do you currently have?

- 5 1/2 in the Hat Queue Mob (the half represents a request that is more of a nomination by someone else than a direct request)
- Another 3 in the phqmm
- And 1 in the former HQM who has now cancelled his order and hurt my feelings :( (well, not really. and I might still make him a hat anyway.)

If there is a cancelation is there any way to fill that slot with a request?

Prediction: Quest (To Find Out If There Are Other Rivers) completed, now they'll turn around and walk back to the sandcastles ... or what's left of them. (This might take a while, it's been ~140 newpix since Megan said BYE.)
Disclaimer: pretty much all of my predictions have turned out to be incorrect.

Valarya wrote:edit: Anyone else notice how cute it is that, once the Blitzrandir Singularity occurred, the OTT sped up so quickly that it put several 'regulars' far in the past post-coma so they had to Blitz the thread of Time to catch up to her? It makes me smile every morningoutside to see the  in people's posts about how many newpages they've missed.

This is exactly how I feel! I may not comment as much as a "regular" but I have been very dutifully keeping up with every update and comment since about 200 pages in and now that BlitzGirl caught up and the fading became a huge deal, everybody is commenting so much that I'm still almost 30 Newpages back! And I'm devoting as much Time as ever haha. For the record, if people still care about this, I'm almost 23. I did vote in the poll and I am blind posting this so for all I know this is irrelevant. But I'm posting anyway! Just because I can!

Hope the future is awesome up there, I really want to get there soon and find out what has been happening in the OTC, but I won't cheat and the fastest thing I have is this kayak!
Still blitzing away and will be for some time.

NO NO NO. No. *dashes around the buffydashery with great aplume* There's just too much to keep track of, any changes to the list (besides being removed) is strictly prohibited. *waves a feather around for emphasis* can't you see what a mess this place is???

Edit: Thank you re: my avi.
