It went Dong! But some people said Bong, or Gong. So they standardized it to [B/D/G]ong, which I personally prounounce as "buh-don-gong." Then people started substituting in silly letters to make new words, and it went on from there.

Cancer usually manifests as flame wars. Malignant tumors are known as Trolls, and they instigate cancerous growth wherever they go.
Which I guess would imply this thread was cancer-free, ironically enough. Maybe it has a different kind of cancer.

See*, I think this is a trick question...

They have no money left after the scaffold-buying orgy at IKEA, so they may find a ford, but it'll be one they can't afford, and so they'll have to turn back.

Things I Have Learned On This Thread:

others have seen the same "little known" flicks I have
the French Renaissance poet Clément Marot
a website to convert Morse code to readable language
people who know Morse code well enough to dash it out at a moment's notice
(not mentioning all the other sites I've been lead to and can't remember {note: wake up more brain cells})
people who can write filk songs on the spur of the moment (on their way home from work, even)
it's possible to create a stir just by reading the backpages of a thread (and letting others know what you're up to)
it's possible to alter someone else's avatar (with permission; not posting it)
people can make a chart for most anything
that people are strange {wait I knew that, I mean I do look in the mirror}
how to post on a thread (and I can say things that aren't ignored)
a comic can go for 40 days (as of this post) and still keep folks on the edge of their seats

Only if they are properly labeled as to what they are spoilering. In this particular context it was pretty obvious, but one of them got to me unspoilered, and Adblock let it through.

Seriously, do you go around stuffing peanut butter in the faces of people you've been told are allergic? Stop posting the image. It hurts. Not internet hurts, physical, migraine hurts. (And that's just me, others might suffer worse than I do.)

Uh, I think the wolves are busy eating the sheeple at the moment...

But I'll respond in the meantime:

You have learned well, grasshopper!

I've also learned that nerdish, neurotic, sarcastic, borderline-psychotic humor can unite people of a wide variety of ages from around the world. Ain't it a beautiful thing?

Which part of photonic epileptic trigger do they not understand? Those things can blow right through the drugs you're taking to control your seizures. It's not the embarrassment, you're the victim of a stupid prank that played on a brain injury, it's the losing your driver's license and pilot's licenses because you've had a seizure. For a year and a decade, respectively; sometimes a job. ADA doesn't help you if your job requires one of those. Doesn't help you get to job interviews, either.

FSCKING STOP.

Edit -- Mods, it would help if the address(es) to that particular insanity was stomped on by the mechanism used for The Madness, replacing it with, say "vile vivid throbbing image" or some such.

I've asked politely before and I'll do so again: can you *please* refrain from posting this?

Isn't that what spoilers are for?

Only if they are properly labeled as to what they are spoilering. In this particular context it was pretty obvious, but one of them got to me unspoilered, and Adblock let it through.

Seriously, do you go around stuffing peanut butter in the faces of people you've been told are allergic? Stop posting the image. It hurts. Not internet hurts, physical, migraine hurts. (And that's just me, others might suffer worse than I do.)

Hurts indeed. If it were larger and brighter, it could probably trigger a seizure for some.

Allow me to add my support for this polite request. I too am a migraine sufferer. If I already have a headache, the flashing image is definitely uncomfortable. If I don't have a headache but feel one coming on, the image is likely to help trigger it. And even if I'm in good health, I find the image annoying.

Didn't we stop already?
If not, I'll.

Also, sorry.

Edit -- Mods, it would help if the address(es) to that particular insanity was stomped on by the mechanism used for The Madness, replacing it with, say "vile vivid throbbing image" or some such.

To be fair, the images are being spoilered now, and it's quite obvious what is under the spoilers.

But point taken.

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family Anatidae on our hands. –Douglas Adams

AN understatement, if I've ever heard one.

On the bright side, I've made a nice graph, depicting the new posters per day since the beginning of Time.

it's possible to create a stir just by reading the backpages of a thread (and letting others know what you're up to)
it's possible to alter someone else's avatar (with permission; not posting it)

But I'll respond in the meantime:

No, they do understand something. Namely, that they don't understand much of anything.
