Silent Update
Image
I actually think the layout redesigns and other pointless changes are just busy-work so Google doesn't have to let them go.

Source: Silent Hammer
Not the most original, I'll admit; it may have even been done on this thread already. It also isn't exactly timely, apart from the fact that people are still complaining about the upcoming layout change and the previous ones.

operator[] wrote:

Go ahead! I'll try to update all relevant references to point to the modified version.

Ah, sorry I've been lazy and forgot about this. I'll get to it soon (I think?) - hopefully my methodology of using FontForge to edit the font isn't flawed (it complained about errors in the font when exporting a modified version of the official font; this may however be due to the font itself - either way, the result works fine).

The actual rule is that \int{u dv} = uv - \int{v du}. I CBA to actually draw it, though.

So I have an idea for some silly/absurd what-if questions that don't really need answers. Is this the right place to post them?
Should I:
- Post them in this thread
- Make a new thread titled "ITT: We make what-if slightly worse."
- Not post them at all and be ashamed for bringing this up

Examples:
- What if Mars was inhabited by invisible killer robots?
- What if Firefly had gone for three seasons?
- What if North Korea were to nuke USA? Who would become the new world power?
- What if we took every microwave in the world, put a couple of metal spoons inside, hooked them up to solar panels, turned them on, and hurtled them at the sun?
- What if wikipedia didn't have moderators/admins, and instead had armies of active vandalism-reversal bots?
- What if Teelo had never made this post?
- What if electrons were positively charged and protons were negatively charged?
- What if xkcd had never created a what-if section?

I decided to try my hand at making a slightly worse font than the "official" one from 1193. At this I failed: it's much worse. Nevertheless, I decided to share anyway. My font, which I named "FauxkC" (pronounced "Foxey"), can be found here. I was shooting for something that looked more hand-lettered than the "official" font but had its letters fit together better than the other fan-created ones.

Here's a sample SW using it:
FauxkC.jpg
Other noteworthy results: 65 thousand "evil hamster"s, 266 thousand "sexy dragon"s.

(Very loosely inspired by 467.)

For comparison, here are some SW's for the other available fonts:

--------------------

The "official" font from 1193, posted above by WolfieMario and credited to Christina Gleason:
Regular.png
My god, it's full of trolls!

(Based on 375 and 386. The alt-text is arguably a reference to my favorite line in all xkcd history, the "My god, it's full of 'car's" from 224.)

--------------------

The "forum" font, posted above by operator[]:
Forum.png
It turns out there was a problem with the HSRB approval, so we'll have to repeat the experiment.

(Based on 169 and 883.)

--------------------

"Humor Sans", from the xkcdsucks blog, credited to ch00f:
Humor.png
My new theory of why dinosaurs went extinct will make me famous, just wait.

(Based mainly on 427, with the raptor from 135, and a reference to the paper on which 8 was drawn.)

--------------------

And, lastly, Comic Sans MS is always an option:
Comic.png
I used to be an adventurer like you, but then a corporation stole my soul my soul and used it for a minor NPC in a video game.

(Based on 501.)

Rich in Lipids.jpg

What annoys me is not that I don't know which option to choose. What annoys me is that none of the options is genuinely nutritious, because the number of people who both care about nutrition and can recognize it is too small for corporations to bother catering to.

That certainly is slightly worse, what with the 2 standing out so much that I think even totally colorblind people could see it.
Unless stated otherwise, I do not care whether a statement, by itself, constitutes a persuasive political argument. I care whether it's true.

Anyway, as colorblind tests go, the image might reveal Deuteranope colorblindness, but not the other two.
