Does that work in reverse? If I say something nice to or about you, and you feel good because of it, is that also "just your fault" or do I get to claim some credit for pleasing you? Much of this thread is people trying to make other people feel good, one way or another. I think a lot of the credit goes to those people - whether by doing something that others will enjoy, or by recognizing that somebody actually did that3. It makes the whole thread a nice place to be.

Aack! I was all caught up, but the Outside is interfering again. Back, Outside, back! *brandishes a chair at the Outside*

azule, thanks for the updated panorama. I think there was other cool stuff I forgot to mention--but I liked it!

Schizoblitzing. That's perfect. That's exactly what it feels like.

And great idea to post the tree image on that botany site! Looks like you got a couple of responses already, though no answers. And one of the people doesn't seem to have read your post all they way through. :( I'll be curious to know if anything comes of it. And I liked your post on language. It does evolve rather quickly. Entries in the wiki can be edited to reflect all the variation, if that hasn't been done already. (I seem to like coming up with things for people to do on the wiki, but I never actually do any work on the wiki myself. )

I just want to say, that I always smile when I see your avatar coming up next in the OTT, because I know I'm always going to appreciate what I'm about to read. :)
By the way, every time you have one of those exasperated ketchup posts where you are frantically throwing responses down in the short time you have before the Outside "finds you" or "catches you" again, I invent in my head some fantastic adventures you must pursue in the Outside. Those posts always have such a dramatic sense of urgency that I imagine you in the middle of warding of a zombie or raptor (or raptor-zombie!!!??!?!) army or performing covert CIA missions while somehow finding a moment to check the OTT and post some pleasant, optimistic tidbits. In my imagination, you have pretty much the most exciting life ever.

Well, that's all. Coma time.

Peace.

Ahh, my cover has been blown! Yes, I work for a top-secret branch of the CIA called Raptor And Zombie Observation and Relocation (RAZOR). Our motto is "Keeping the world safe from zombies, should we ever find any, and raptors, even though they aren't usually dangerous to humans." It's a terrible motto. I'm not sure who came up with it. Yes, it's a dangerous job, but someone has to do it.

Seriously, thank you so so much for those nice words! They're especially appreciated right now, since I've been feeling bad that I was contributing to tension in the OTT. That is never my intention. I do hope the song gives everyone warm fuzzies.

And I'm afraid my life, while busy, is not quite that dramatic. I just work a couple of jobs, and play gigs on a somewhat regular basis, and I'm in a dance troupe and currently rehearsing for a musical. So, it keeps me busy, but I'm afraid it's not the exciting life you imagine. Sorry!

OK, time to jump in my spy car get back to my desk and do some work. Cheers!

With all these corners, it must be a square dance...

It could be a dodecahedron. those are pretty awesome. Why are there no dodecahedron dances, anyway?

Perhaps because it's difficult to dance in three dimensions?

I'm not much of a dancer myself, but I think it would be difficult to do so gracefully in anything less than 3 dimensions and one of those would have to be Time. Without a time dimension, keeping the right rhythm would be near impossible and in 1D + time it would just be moving back and forth running into each other.

I hear there are good examples of 4D dancing here. And, even though I can't picture what 5D or higher dancing would look like I'm sure it would be awe inspiring.

I fully expect that little step up is the first of many steep slopes. Mountains tend to have those. Eyeballing it, it looks like the step is in the range 30-35 degrees. I would not be surprised if they wind up somewhere where the whole frame is a slope of 45 degrees or more. Lots of fun scrambling ahead! I miss real mountains

To underline jjjdavidson's observation that praise can come late in this thread, I see that I must have missed rule110's adaptation of the Raven some two weeks ago, when I was skipping to ketch up. But thanks to some fairly delayed praise, I have seen it now.

More delayed praise: Wonderful, rule110!

I do believe they are heading towards the mountains, yes? It could be that they are about to pass into higher elevations that are hostile to the vegetation we've been seeing. Or perhaps they are about to journey up a slope that has succumbed to slides or fire in the past, as one may find on alpine slopes (might that not explain the abandoned campfires?). This is all conjecture of course. As always, we must wait for it.

Wait for it...
Wait for it...

Still, why the small tended tree? Repopulating a deforested slope?

You should be careful. if you had filled that up with Orange Juice, you'd have been encroaching on inquisition territory. That'd be bad, m'kay?

Don't worry, I stick to what I'm good at... apple juice, ice-cold water, and occasionally smoothies. Works every time.

Who says there aren't? Granted, you'd need exactly 96 people to make a grid square qualify as a dodecahedron, but it can be done.

Might be doable by a group of skydivers...

I'd think that it would take 12 skydivers...one for each face (although I'd pick a space station instead). Why 96?

Because it's one of my old form numbers?

I fully expect that little step up is the first of many steep slopes. Mountains tend to have those. Eyeballing it, it looks like the step is in the range 30-35 degrees. I would not be surprised if they wind up somewhere where the whole frame is a slope of 45 degrees or more. Lots of fun scrambling ahead! I miss real mountains

I'm hoping so. It would be a help to my geological interpretation of the OTC if I could see some actual rocks, even if just in silhouette apparently made of caffeinesemenbabymolpyice. Though that steep bit in the current np could very well be rock.

My name seems like it's a little larger in comparison to the others than it should be. But then again, that's probably a combination of whatever weighting you used and the fact that all of the characters in my username are capital letters and numbers.

You'll get one eventually. Two days ago (feels like yesterday, but that's what happens when I only coma for an hour and a half), I got ninja'd on an ONG and went on to get 12 ONGs in a row immediately after.

Not enough time, I think. At least for the square dance shown. Skydiving freefall lasts only about a minute and a half at most (skydance) and the moves take a while because you are working in an extremely low friction medium.
On the other hand the best four and eight way teams are gorgeous to watch. They are falling from about 18000 feet at 90 miles per hourH

I've been in some twelve way formations, and it was all we could do to get one formation in 60 seconds.H

HHeresy, I know, but this is the only way I feel how fast they are moving.
Always act to increase the survival chances of the largest group you are a part of.

Blitz progress: 586 of 732
Traversing the Dunes, np 1238

So... between reading the OTT on my phone all weekend, and visiting with my Outside family, I both don't have much saved to say, and also have lost all the ground I made up last week... hopefully I can get caught back up a bit this week.

With that said, here is a much-shorter-than-usual-for-the-number-of-NewPages-traversed signpost:

Recent happenings:
Alpha-sudoku nerd sniping
Talk of eclipses (which, sad to say, there hasn't been a total eclipse in the continental USA during my lifetime... looking forward to 2017)
More exploration
Amazing quote-tree graphs
Other things that I can't think of right now...
Saw a few of my signposts, and some responses of encouragement

Responses to a few PastPosts:

And not a seal cub. Don't ask, really, just . . . don't even ask.

Added: Or maybe it was sea lion. Memory's slightly fuzzy, and I really don't want to go refreshing the details.
I am suddenly scared for my Future self... :?
Also, when I first read it, I thought it said "seal club", like the class in Kingdom of Loathing.

That was pretty quick, Copernicium112. But there's not enough precision in the newpix stamp to see how fast since it only goes down to centinewpix.

[heresy]It was 21 seconds. If you're not using the special scripts, you can go to the "Board Preferences" and set the date format to custom, then use a format with 's' in it. I'm partial to "D M jS, Y G:i:s U" myself, but I'm funny like that.[/heresy]

Sweet, drop a link to it once you are done :D

Sweet, I've caught up to the start of the Greasemonkey scripts that I've been using :)
Thanks, Pikrass!

Weird that you brought this up at almost exactly the same time as I revisited it; only [heresy]36 seconds[/heresy] later. Furthermore, I almost added another "that's how I roll" at the end of my recent post. Maybe I'm in a bit of a rut. :P
