Truly, though. The bestest dark chocolate in the whole wide world is whatever I have in my hand/mouth at the moment. Can't be beat.

But yes, a chocolate safari, shall we say quest, is certainly called for.

Aaaaannnnnddd. Popish again.

ETA. The sad part about the GOAT post on a page is that it is likely to get missed rather than savored. People all rushin' on to see who the next pope will be and all.

Some of us, notably JJJ, have people reading along with us in our homes. I would say it would be a similar experience.

I sometimes feel like some of you peoples could be ones I knew from forums past. It would feel odd to be talking to others and not even know that we know each other.

Musical Ketchup -- Volume 1

Image

Working once again to ketchup from 13 pages back, but filled with song, so let me first offer this:

Time Waiter
(to the tune of "Heartbreaker" by Pat Benatar)

Spoiler:
Your Wait is like a tidal wave, spinning over your head;
Drowning you in an endless quest: Leave no post unread!
You're the right kind of dreamer, to believe in our x-k-c-d;
An invincible blitzer, and you know that you were born to be!

You're a Time Waiter,
Post maker, a song faker,
and you want us all to see.

You're a Time Waiter,
Graph maker, a pic faker;
Don't you stop it now! No, no, no!

Your Wait has set your soul on fire, burnin' out of control;
To see IT is your one desire, now IT's taken IT's toll.
Your grasp is getting thinner on what's left of any sanity;
The One True never-ender, and you know that you were born to be!

You're a Time Waiter,
Hat maker, a blitz-taker,
and you want us all to see.

You're a Time Waiter,
Cake baker, a map maker;
Don't you stop it now! No, no, no!

You're the right kind of dreamer, to believe in our x-k-c-d;
An invincible blitzer, and you know that you were born to be!

You're a Time Waiter,
Post maker, a song faker,
and you want us all to see.

You're a Time Waiter
Graph maker, a pic faker;
and you want us all to see.

You're a Time Waiter;
Hat maker, a blitz-taker,
and you want us all to see.

You're a Time Waiter
Cake baker, a map maker;
Time Waiter!

<*insert awesome screamin' guitar solo*>

Alright, so off to blitzing:

Yes. An epic film, with the benefit of providing a lot of opportunity for bathroom breaks in-between the epic-ness. :)

My wife thinks that I am nuts. *shrug* But then, she was quite aware of that fact when she married me :D

As far as I know, I know no one here in the OTT, IRL. And as I am not particularly active in other forums, I surely doubt that I know anyone here, digitally or otherwise, in any other space, digital or otherwise. Should this prove to be untrue and, in fact, the identity of another tribal member were to be someone who I truly did know, it would be a fantastic coincidence.

Ketched up. :)

I see we're playing mind puzzles and riddles. Here's one that supposedly drove the ancient poet Homer so crazy he killed himself (that's the stuff of fables, of course). It was told to him by fishermen, who said, "What we caught we threw away. What we couldn't catch, we kept." What were they talking about?
In Svithjod, there stands a rock. It is 100 miles high and 100 miles wide. Once every 1000 years a little bird comes to this rock to sharpen its beak. One time, I changed just the last sentence of this signature, and lots of you noticed. Image

Fish they didn't want that ended up in their nets maybe? If they caught one, they could throw it out of the net, but if they couldn't catch it they'd have to leave it in there.

Clunky phrases like "steam bottle" or "things from people in the hills" particularly give that impression. But then, a word like "ford" is not especially common, and can easily be described in simpler terms ("place to get across").

Thank You! I never looked up ford (nor fjord) and now I know what it means. yay!! lol.

Ontopix: I agree that there's a stiltedness of their vocabulary, but I think it's possible for the other words to be used because of their circle of interest/usefulness. I guess it could be called "expanded vocabulary", much how those with an interest in movies would use more movie terms yet not know the words a scientist uses. So, I modifiedly agree!
You mean, like "trope"? (I still don't even know how to translate it into my native language)
I don't think so, sorry. A trope is like a cliche, it's a phrase or device used to express creatively. The vocabulary attached to that or anything else is different. It's like the regional dialects thing, or the grammar arguments earlier in OTT.

An example, hopefully simple, would be a baby. The baby says gaga, mama, and bobo (for monkey). Most babies will say the first two, but in this house bobo=monkey and uncle comes by and the baby says dobie (for Toby). Expanded from the basics. I hope I didn't confuse more. *shrug*

jjjdavidson wrote:I get something of both worlds. One daughter is reading along; my wife and other daughter just nod and smile tolerantly.
Hehe, I guess I have one that is both. My girlfriend smiles and nods (not always so) tolerantly and she peruses the thread sometimes too. She's a twin sign. I'm a balance sign. (This is astrology, peoples.)

It's probably like in the movies, where you don't see anyone going to the loo, unless it's part of the plot. (Or on TV – apparently Jack Bauer can hold it up for 24 hours.)
We might have seen the aftermath of a bathroom break around frame 1062, in any case.

A man in desert nomadic lands was once quite rich, but died owning only 23 camels (camelMolpies). He had three sons and his will directed that the first son should receive half of his camels, the second one-third and the last son one-eigth of the camels.

The law was very strict in those days and the sons also wanted to honor their father's wishes without "dividing" any of the individual camels.

They searched long and hard for a solution, without success.

A wise person rode into their village on a camel and helped them find the answer. Are you that wise person?

- Blindposting because I think I have the answer and don't want to spoil it for myself -

If I, being wise, loan my camel to this man's estate, he then has 24 camels (I refuse to refer to them as camelMolpies, because that doesn't sound wise at all).
First son gets 12, second son gets 8, third gets 3, leaving 1, which I then take back as repayment of my loan. Problem solved!

Musical Ketchup -- Volume 2
Spoiler:
Image

Working once again to ketchup from 9 pages back, but filled with song, so allow me the indulgence of another 70's filk:

Do You Wait Like We Do?
(to the tune of "Do You Feel Like We do?" by Peter Frampton)

Spoiler:
Well...

Woke up this morning, with my usual demands:
"How's Time? Is it fine? How far am I behind?!?"
Rushed to my screen, I don't believe what I've seen.
Come on -- Wait for IT again!

Do you, you -- Wait like we do?
(How's it feel?)
Do you, you -- Wait like we do?

My friends are waiting the O-T-T way,
They say, "don't walk, don't walk, don't walk away!"
Drove me halfway crazy, reading ten newpages back,
have to filk some music, otherwise I might crack!

Do you, you -- Wait like we do?
(How d'ya feel?)
Do you, you -- Wait like...

<*First guitar solo*>

Do you, you -- Wait like we do?
(How's it feel?)
Do you, you -- Wait like we do?

I don't eat breakfast, I got my mouse in my hand,
Keep reading, keep bliting, mustn't fail!
Craziness on my screen, I don't believe what I'm seein'!
Come on -- Wait for IT again!

Do you, you -- Wait like we do?
(How's it feel?)
Do you, you -- Wait like...

<*Funky, tinkly, keyboard solo*>

Do you Wait? Like we do?
Do you Wait? Like we do?
Oh, it's cool...
Do you Wait like we do?
(get back!)
Do you Wait? Do you Wait like we do?

<*Second guitar solo*>

<*Add Voice Box*>

Oh tell me do you Wait?
Oh tell me do you Wait? Wait like we do?
Do you Wait? Do you Wait? Like we do?

<*Work up to BIG FINISH!!!*>

-You either refuse to speak twice in a row, or don't say anything for multiple newpix but then talk for at least 10 minutes, on five different subjects.
-You've almost called someone a heretic for using Outside Time and distance units, and it wasn't someone on the OTT.
-You've had to refrain from pelting people with small sugar-coated candies of varying flavors when they imply that you're wasting your Time.
-You find yourself pondering the possible Madagascar/Africa/Cassinite projection/other justification for all animal molpy life you see.
-You're at the store getting curtains and guesstimate the size in cues.
-You covertly examine every person you see wearing a hat, wondering if it's a BuffyGirlTM Original.R

ETA What else?

Spoiler:
-You spend the time you're supposed to be 'revising' in catching and keeping up with the Time thread.
-You refer to sleep as coma all of the time.
-You use 'Time' to motivate yourself when you're climbing home.
-You get really bored halfway through every Newpix.
-You have claimed any part of the OTC.
-At any time you can't access the internet but aren't doing anything interesting, you think about how nice it would be to be able to ketchup with Time.

Is that the sort of thing?

Yes!!!! :D

Ok, I've finally figured out where I left off. I have 51 pages to read (gulp!) I'll just have to enjoy the ride now that I'm officially among the ranks of the blitzers. Well, not officially, since I'm too impatient to read through the OTT to see what happens in the OTC (thanks, Book of Aubron!). And I'll be sure to post big unspoilered blitzposts, or is it small spoilered blitzposts, or maybe blitzed big spoiler posts, or posted blitzed spoilers, or...? Well, I'll figure it out. :D (Y'all know I'm just joking around, right? If anyone uses that to start another argument about posting, I WILL TURN THIS THREAD AROUND! :evil: )

One thing I'm really curious about is whether I'm now married. I know StratPlayer responded to my saying I wanted to marry him by saying he wanted to marry me, but was already married. That would be bigamy. But he also remembered what lmjb stood for, so then I wanted to double marry him, which I guess would be. . .quadrigamy? (I think Exodies remembered it too earlier, but he was giving me a hard time in that post, so I didn't comment on it. Thhbbt! I did notice though. :) ) And then the last post I read before being carried off by anti-RAZOR agents the Outside took over my life was a post by Kieryn indicating that everyone on the OTT was somehow going to end up married to everyone else on the OTT. For all I know, there could have been a huge Sun Myung Moon-style ceremony that I missed. If that's the case, I should definitely find out when my anniversary is, or I'll have a lot of people mad at me.
Spoiler:
Speaking of the OTC (we were, right?) I'm glad to see Megan was just being puckish when she jumped out of the tree on Cueball. I was a little concerned that she was going all Hunger Games on him.

Onward and threadward! Hugs to all!

There wasn't a group ceremony, but in an alternate universe, you and I did run off to a hyper-virtual Las Vegas for a wild elopement. I won't go into all the details, but suffice to say it was awesome and we enjoyed every minute. Unfortunately the alternate-universe Elvis impersonator who performed the ceremony was not fully cross-dimensionally licensed, so the alternate hyper-marriage still has some dangling strings of debatable legality in several universes, including this one. Our lawyers are still looking into it... :wink:

Oh, and welcome back!!!

kenmelken wrote:Still, it feels weird to be at 200 already, since I feel often more like a side-commentator in wonderment of all of you rather than a contributor of anything significant.

I think we all feel a bit like that sometimes... even those of us who do post creative stuff feel that way the rest of the time, I know I do... especially since I'm no science geek, maths geek or computer geek so a lot of the discussion is way above me... so you're not alone ;)

But I guess that's part of the reason this place is so great. We come from all sorts of backgrounds, and all bring SOMETHING to the table. Some of us who aren't all that creative might be great programmers who come up with useful bits of code. Someone who may know nothing of computers may be a great writer. Someone who doesn't have such a way with words might create great visual art and graphics... and even if you don't think you're all that special, you probably still do bring something to the table, and people do notice you, but you just don't realise it ;). Since we were quoting Doctor Who earlier, I'll paraphrase... "Over two mips of Time and the Thread and I've never met anyone who wasn't important." Ahh, this utterly crazy yet brilliant community :D

Absolutely! Beautifully stated, good Ser Yappo!!! :D Everyone is vitally important because we wouldn't be an "all of us" without each of us!

yappobiscuits wrote:Well, a feature similar to a "like" button, but if you wanna put a more imaginative spin on it, yes!

Oh. Well a "like" button is not so exciting. I do think that much of the material contributed here, including cakes, definitely transcend mere "like"-ness and are worthy of epic guitar solos. Like David Gilmore's solo in "On the Turning Away", on the album Delicate Sounds of Thunder. That kind of epic :mrgreen:

As a long-standing fan of David Gilmour, let me completely agree with this, both in relation to the epic-ness of the OTT threads and to the epic-ness of the guitar solo.

And that's enough for volume Two -- now 6 NPs back, but running out of time at the present, so we'll see when the next time is that I can make some time to spend some time with Time...
Former Forever member of the OTT, now moved on to other things sucked back in by the wowterful wonder of the thread...

Ketching down

Not heresy

Would you sell your soul for a mini-trebuchet?

Vytron wrote:Okay, that's a bit awkward. It seems I own about 2/3 of Megan. The lower half... What about, I have her Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday? That'd leave me with 2/3 of a day with Megan, so Dracomax can have her Monday, Tuesday, and every third Wednesday (I'll be nice and let him have her the first Wednesday since that'll average towards the same). Should be mathematically sound.

Hmmm. I think this is going in a dangerous direction here. Let's not be too kinky, boys.

I love her for her minitrebuchet.

AluisioASG wrote:What do you want to do with her that needs the whole and not only the lower half? A house? A ball-launching lever? A 5-bit computer? Play rock-paper-scissors?
And what does The Inquisitor has to do with all this? He (I presume; not sure if it is the right pronoun for dragons - or if dragons have gender, for that matter) only wanted the Mini-Trebuchet©®℗™ⓌⓔⓃⓔⓔⓓⒶⓈⓒⓡⓘⓟⓣ (which I'm willing to lend, for the right price).

How do...two twinkies, a handful of expensive chocolates, and a (1) free heresy pass sound?

Don't worry about it, I do watch Doctor Who, and know “Who's of first”, and still didn't get it. Image

I got the joke, but had to think for a second. the alt text, on the other hand, still has me stumped.

Ah, HAHAHAHAHA! Gotcha!

I caught the Grand High Lord Inquisitor, Head of the Inquisition acknowledging the existence of the OtherComic, like an outsider! There's only One True Comic!

I now sentence you to sentence yourself!!

Or you can point at laugh at me, of course.

I'll point and laugh, thanks. the other comic is not heretical; placing it above the OTC is.

And now that I'm current, time to get behind again...
