Well done and well timed! 8-)

Is there a title you'd prefer, for the wiki song list? Suggested titles: "Come Together," "Here Comes Rot13," or perhaps "Emergency Song Post."

By the way, that list now has 74 songs and counting. And there may be more that are missing. (There was one I remembered that was missing, that I added earlier todix.) If you wrote or remember one that's not on the list, let me know. Also, if one of your entries is missing information (a title or the name and artist of the song filked) and you want that added (but don't want to add it yourself), let me know.
If you're lost you can look--and you will find me

Hey, that's mean. Especially as we are now reminded there are other people who need to read it all!

(It says: ?HEY'HOW ABOUT TINY STRUCK THROUGH MARTIAN/STYLE TEXT IN ROT13 MORSE CODE, apparently)

See, that wasn't so hard! Consider it my revenge for all the tiny text I had to read.

Hmm, didn't think of doing it in Russian. Oh well, I don't have the money for an interpreter anyway.

Revenge doesn't do much, because then those you revenge will try something on you and we'll end up in a long and stupid loop.

And yes, it wasn't hard, so don't tell me that. That just makes me want to throw you through the window because it's condescending and I'd already done it for previous posts.

Very frowny now.

Jovialbard for the save  And a great song at that!

It is a shame, though, that I am listening to Pink Floyd at the moment, and not the Beatles, as is my usual custom during OT. This is not to suggest, of course, that it is a shame to ever listen to Pink Floyd.

Hi!!!
I've made it to pg.112! And I'm still...almost exactly...700pages...behind y'all... What is up with that?! Y'all post too quickly! Oh well...

I'd expect good sand to stick together well enough to be able to do something like that (though I am now really curious to test it). I think the sandcastle pictures we saw before pretty much prove you can make anything out of sand.

I think my meager attempt at a cover of The Beatles' "Blackbird" is missing  I don't think I gave it a title, but I suppose it would be called "Molpy." Also, credit should also go to...um...I forget who actually started it, and I did not look it up before attempting to post. My apologies.

Is the reference the "chocolate or pizza", because I'm pretty sure "cake or death" originated from Eddie Izzard.

(Curious question for our expert on firsts, PartingLance: Is this the first time someone has referenced Teen Girl Squad on the OTT?)

Could well be, but I can't yet say for sure. You see, I've only plodded Blitzed Quested rolled my rock up as far as NP 77 or thereabouts. (Expect another instalment in a few newpices, and I'll also get serious about uploading to the wiki).

An endless task, it may prove to be, and I'm not at all sure I'll get up even close to the present before departing to cross that seaish River, wherever it may be or lead to. Still, I man the forward .50s, and sail soldier on.

But, all said and done, I think one could possibly make a argument for differentiating eons and periods and such in the OTT. It would be difficult to choose discrete turning points, because just as in Outside history, many contradictory things were happening at once. But the 60s and 70s NP, for example, seem at once a wilder and freer, and a more harsh and judgmental, period than our current, rather more secular, and certainly more easy-going age.

At that Time, the OTR and various sects and factions thereof were being formed, seemingly instantaneously (indeed literally overnight), and with all the passion and disputation that such formation usually entails. Accusations of heresy flew thick and fast, without the compensating factors of comfy chairs, S&M&Ms/Skittles, and so forth, let alone hats or (cup)cake. Strange times, strange times; or so it now seems to me, lo these many NP and np later.

I'm pretty sure these haven't been done -- please take them up! I'd especially vote for the Fatboy Slim.

For the sake of the meter, may I suggest:

We've come a long long way together

911 Or "Waiters," depending of course on whom you're singing to.

That said, do we have any idea, what Cuegan are eating? Their food could tell us about their world.

I haven't seen them eat and in Frame 1479 Queball said: "We walked along the sea for days and we didn't learn anything. Up here we're learning lots. "
Are they perhaps partially plants and living on photosynthesis?
Are they fueled by a tiny nuclear reactor?

We've seen them eat. Most importantly:
- Molpyberries in frame 1363 and up.
- Grapes in frame 1557 and up.
So, they seem to be fruit eaters. (But that might just be because that's all they've found.)

We haven't seen them. . .um. . .seen them excrete anything. Regardless of what they eat, their digestive systems are functioning at 100% efficiency.

Well done and well timed! 8-)

Is there a title you'd prefer, for the wiki song list? Suggested titles: "Come Together," "Here Comes Rot13," or perhaps "Emergency Song Post."

I vote for "Wait Together."

How did I miss that! I'm changing the lyrics and title to incorporate that suggestion!

Luckily, it appears that we Time Waiters (and associated sects) have learned to adapt by doing our own analysis and discussions of the OTC, deftly weaving it in amid conversation strands of hattery, cakeage, and associated Madness(es).

Ooh! Ooh! Is there still room on the page?

For dinner I made chicken stuffed with onions and preserved lemons (that I made with my very own claws, thank you very much) poached in white wine with thyme. And now catching up to Time I see Lemonade Freezepops - it's all related!!!!

Oh, and jovialbard, looks like you deserve the ‘bard’ part of your name! Excellent timing, xer; may I inquire, whether you prepare these remarks, or do you discover them on the moment? (Clumsy paraphrase from Pride and Prejudice due to carrying 1.5 year old on walk. Absolutely admiring, no snark intended.)

Found it. It's now in the list at (currently) number 46. The co-writer was rvloon.

However, the filk count still stands at 74, because I also deleted a duplicate entry of BlitzGirl's "C.O.M.A." that resulted from a later reposting.

And, um... there's no such thing as an unregistered poster, is there? (If guest posts are permitted here, I haven't seen one in a long time.)

And anyhow, I thought the Papal Popsicle Person meant "registered" for something else, As far as I know I'm no longer registered for the U.S. military draft (being too old). There are hundreds of countries I'm not registered to vote in. And I've shifted my butt slightly to the left so I'm not registered in my chair. That should be more than sufficient.

I was just about to post a post about recursive lemonade popsicling posts if the PagePope were to post on this page, when it happened. I do believe, however, that the cancellation of the decree takes effect after the PagePope's post containing the cancellation and so the PagePope must, at least, lemonade popsicle this last post.

I've discovered that we on this thread are a Tribe. Perhaps it needs a name, though Time Waiters is a pretty good one. This thread is our cave, where we meet to share experiences. Members come and go, but maintain a connection to the Tribe. There is an US and a THEM, though we aren't exclusionary. But definitely an US.

Different members have different roles in the tribe. I'm one of the "elders of the tribe". No, not one of the leaders, my post count is far too low for that. One of the elders. The elders in a tribe are valuable because they are the ones that haven't been eaten by the saber-toothed molpys for the longest amount of time. Most roles in a tribe are earned, but you get to be an elder just by living a long time and seeing a lot of stuff, some of which works and some of which doesn't. So there is no special honor in being an elder, though viejo is used in Spanish as a term of honor as well as endearment (viejo/vieja = old man/old woman)

Some of our leaders are quite young, in fact, but have earned their place. Leaders set the tone and the direction of the advancement of the Tribe. Even young HAL9000 (may his presentation have gone well) has taken a leadership role at times. But the elders are old. Stands to reason.

People are free to leave, but few do. When not seen for a while, the others ask about/worry about them. Often they return and we rejoice.

Members of other tribes don't always understand. My wife is a bit mystified by all this.

We are not an army, but a Tribe. We share a culture. We extend that culture. The old ones (like myself) often offer advice to the young, as is good and proper. The leaders, like buffygirl, keep us unified (i.e. hatted). The advice of the old isn't always taken, as is also proper, as the young need, ultimately, to find their own way.

It is even possible that if Time ended that the Tribe would find a way to live on. It is even possible that GLR guides the Tribe by listening to what is here and providing direction via the OTC.

Since elders don't, typically, hunt anymore (leaving the pursuit of molpys to others) we are free to philosophize. Some of what we know is garbage. So, some of what we say is garbage. We (the elders) hope you understand. Sometimes we try to be funny/endearing so you don't throw us out. Sometimes we try to give serious important advice. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it is garbage. We hope you understand and continue to offer cake.

Chocolate.

Chocolate Cake.

Hmmm. Yes. That is the essence.

Blindposting from page 746 (oh so far from the present!) to say: I love this! I love my tribe! I love our cave! I love chocolate cake! I love exclamation points!

OK, that's all for now.

1Screw American punctuation standards, it makes more sense outside the quotes.

We do not have children but I already call one of my cats my "little molpy". And I completely agree, I always hated having to punctuate inside the quotes. It never did look quite right. However, such blatant disregard for the *ahem* "rules" often resulted in lower marks, so I learned to submit and do it the "right way."

See now, I'd always thought that the rule with punctuation in quotes was that you wrapped the quotes around whatever you were quoting. So:

I can't believe people are naming their kids "Little Molpy"! -- Correct, because the quote is the phrase "Little Molpy", the exclamation point is your own. If you were being less emphatic, you'd have a period outside the quotes instead of the exclamation point.

I could hear Mrs Smith yelling, "get back here, Little Molpy!" -- Also correct, because Mrs Smith is being quoted, and she's the one using the exclamation point.

(Or am I getting quotes and parentheses mixed up again?)

If you don't put the quotes and the other punctuation marks in the right order when you speak no one will understand a bloody word you say; in written English there's a bit more leeway.

k.bookbinder wrote:I also believe this is the correct format for MLA, APA, and Chicago Manual styles. But again, for all I know I am completely wrong.

That is correct. You are completely wrong. It should be "this is the preferred format for MLA, APA, and Chicago Manual styles".

Furthermore, surely there's enough of the hashes (image file names) for the Tread statisticians to discover something about their nature - tests for randomness and what have you.
