i'm guessing a bit more offensive on your side of the pond than mine.

Hmm, maybe. I've always thought it relatively mild but I don't really know how offensive it is across the pond... more common here though certainly!

BlitzGirl, that gif is strangely compelling to watch...

Ok, predictions! In the hut they will find stacks upon stacks of cakes. For what they have stumbled upon is the OTT cake archive, where all cakes posted throughout the thread are stored.

So... I have not coma'd in about 36 newpix, yet have been busy with unexpected chaos since 2:00 AMH my time (it is now 4:30 PMH). Haven't even had a chance to coma, and yet I find myself 5 NPs behind. Well... I guess it's good that due to my special disorder I'm also still not tired. Hopefully I can catch up quickly, but it has gotten quite exciting it looks like!

Also, I'm glad that my (semi-)reign of (not very terrible) terror all ended peacefully on 875 (the only page I've ketchupped so far). Things were getting fiery, and I'm glad they calmed down. :)

Now... 5 NPs (i.e. 200 posts) to read...

The Music that We Write

Spoiler:
Waiting sharpens, heightens each sensation;
Molpies stir and wake imagination;
Discovered through enhances, as Comic time advances.

Slowly, hourly, newpix are revealed here;
Waiters mention references concealed here;
Turn your face away from the garish light of day
Stay upon your quest to be Temporal Knight;
And listen to the music that we write.

Blitz the Thread, if you feel you're missing something here,
Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before;
At the end, you've read all that came before!
And you'll wait, as you never have before.

Softly, loudly, waiters produce wonders;
Many pages, never pulled asunder;
Heresies bring candy, our modus operandi,
And flamewars quenched because we cannot fight;
Instead we share the music that we write.

Let our thread watch a journey through a strange new world
Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before -
Let Lord Randall take them where they should be!
Only then can they learn about the sea.

Outside, worldwide, time is passing faster;
No-one here can wait forever after;
We must sing today, create beauty straightaway,
Like the buttermolpyfly's amazing flight;
We do this with the music that we write.

You alone can make our songs take flight;
Help us make the music that we write.

Awesomeful. Image

I predict that the owner of the shed will approach them from behind.

I'd argue the point that its usage has changed to the point that it's no longer considered offensive, leading to books like this. There's a difference between a words technical/original meaning and its generally perceived meaning - but that's a whole other kettle of fish

Oops, I missed the page decree. Okay, they're at a ski lodge that's closed for the season. The building is a closed snack bar; the big white rectangle is a menu whiteboard that's been wiped clean. It's shut down because the mortgage was foreclosed when the owner got in arrears.

Edit: Too slow; Megan's already inside. Okay, it's still a whiteboard, but it's inside the snack bar, and Megan's looking out over the service counter. Pretty soon she'll hold up a bag of stale buns.

Although I guess it kind of makes sense with the lyrics of the song, where she talks about how the sounds of the birds and streams and trees are like music. So maybe it should be called "A Sound Like Music." Hm, not really as catchy, is it?

What really happened was that somebody stole two posts and sold them on the black market by mistake. This is called a fence post error.

And while I didn't notice your 300th post (and don't even notice my own round numbers for the most part), I like you three hundred times too. (is that six hundred times?)

It appears that a few weeks before defending a phd, a choice has to be made between work and following even the best forum thread of the interweb... so although I'm still Waiting For It, I can no longer try to Read All Of It.
Still... be assured that the map will get regular updates :) (my objective is to update it every 100np at most... especially when they're walking slowly like nowadays).

Hi, edfel! Good luck with your PhD defense! Is it perhaps on the philosophy of journeying stick figures, or the biology of molpies, or geography, perhaps? 'Cause then the OTT would totally help you with preparing for your defense.

I always liked the term "defending the dissertation." I picture someone clutching their hard-won finding to their chest while waving a sword at marauding hordes.

HES-Did we miss your 200? Happy 200! People missed my 300. It was ok except I really wanted to see if anyone commented on my 300-post word. But I'll save it for #400.

To the tune of "Music of the Night", from Phantom of the Opera:

The Music that We Write

Spoiler:
Waiting sharpens, heightens each sensation;
Molpies stir and wake imagination;
Discovered through enhances, as Comic time advances.

Slowly, hourly, newpix are revealed here;
Waiters mention references concealed here;
Turn your face away from the garish light of day
Stay upon your quest to be Temporal Knight;
And listen to the music that we write.

Blitz the Thread, if you feel you're missing something here,
Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before;
At the end, you've read all that came before!
And you'll wait, as you never have before.

Softly, loudly, waiters produce wonders;
Many pages, never pulled asunder;
Heresies bring candy, our modus operandi,
And flamewars quenched because we cannot fight;
Instead we share the music that we write.

Let our thread watch a journey through a strange new world
Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before -
Let Lord Randall take them where they should be!
Only then can they learn about the sea.

Outside, worldwide, time is passing faster;
No-one here can wait forever after;
We must sing today, create beauty straightaway,
Like the buttermolpyfly's amazing flight;
We do this with the music that we write.

You alone can make our songs take flight;
Help us make the music that we write.

Wow, really neat--they don't have enough adjectives. Bravo!

I know it could be said about many things in the OTT, but somehow it just struck me how unlikely it is is that the term "LionelRitchieninja'd" would exist, really, anywhere.

OK, from the preview window, looks like I need to make a prediction. Umm, umm...I predict I'll lose my job because I have done any work today. Oh, wait, about the OTC. An twister comes and lifts the house up with them in, spins them around, and lands. They'll come to, walk outside, and everything will be in color. Also, there will be a little woofmolpy named Toto. (And, of course, in the movie, Toto was played by a --you guessed it--Cairn terrier.) *nods* It's ALL related.

Typing this while upketching, so almost certainly ninja'd, but we've seen them behind and in front of objects, and it's easy to see the difference – heads and backpacks. (We've even, just a few newpix ago, seen Cueball simultaneously in front of one and behind another shrub.)
We might not be able to see the difference between behind and inside, though...

k.bookbinder wrote:This sounds like the early mutterings of some kind of OTT Reformation. If true, there be dark times ahead. Hopefully no burnings or be-headings, though. That could get messy.

I already tried to start reformation twice by declaring an empire (and later a semi-empire), but I actually would agree and add that the entire feel lately has been shifting towards less stringency towards OTT religionism, and more casual fun traditions and OTC discussion. And I for one think this is a good thing. As BlitzGirl said a few NPs ago, the OTC is most important, more than the OTT, which is a diversion while we wait. I'm glad to see that her statement wasn't met with cries of heresy, as my very similar statement on NP 146 was (with rather bitter vitriol/backlash actually. This contributed to my Great Lurk):

Oh, a prediction, you say?
I'll just repeat my earlier one:
A theory: “Oh!” was short for “Oh, look, we're home! We must have walked in a circle somehow, and since we never enter our settlement by climbing the cliff, I didn't recognize it until we were at the top.” The End.

Diff between the last two frames:
Spoiler:

No sign of Megan. She's not blocking the light coming through any of the holes in the wall – if that's what they are. But she was doing so in the last frame!

Seems to me that this is somewhere they haven't been before. The way Megan called "Hello?" and the way they're being so hesitant around the entrance seems to imply this is unfamiliar territory. Also the fact that Megan went in to investigate while Cueball's loitering around the entrance.
