Created this account just to say that I've been here from the start, managed to keep up with the first 30 pages or so, then lost it terribly. You guys are quick! I still check in here everyday though but only tend to read the most recent page on the forum unless something especially exciting has happened in the OTC or there's something I don't get, because I rely on you guys to explain things to me and share my excitement, even if you don't know I'm there
Without the OTT I don't think the OTC would mean half as much to me. Keep it up guys!
I really think you have it right. I used to read the last few pages only when I started, and now I read everything, and I think the first way was more reasonable and enjoyable. If I can conquer my OCDish tendencies I'll go back to doing that. Maybe if we wanted to make this thread more inviting, we should make it clear that skipping is fine.
I don't think I'm the only one who feels slightly oppressed by the perceived duty of reading it all - most of our arguments are over speed-bumps: you get up in the morning, there are x pages to read, you start making progress, and then blam! there's a huge blitzpost, or a page of encoded messages, or a pile of creative writing of some sort. If you think that particular kind of speed bump is fun, you take the time and enjoy it, but if you don't think it's fun, you read it anyway and then suggest that it should be abolished, and then someone else suggests that you're being a bully for saying what should or shouldn't be posted.
Now, maybe I'm a meta-bully for suggesting that we should all feel less compelled to read everything rather than posting about what we should stop posting about, but well, oops.
In other news: Congrats on your 1000th ED! and on your 500th Kieryn! May I suggest pouring some of this on your cake? (just a sprinkle - oddly it seems stronger on the cake than in the glass.)
