@azule (PP945) Hasta hasta en la camina, la cucha guerillera por America Latina. (I remember reading that on a bathroom wall once but everyone tells me it isn't Spanish.)
@BlitzGirl (PP946) Hurry up and get in the truck that's taking the gorillas to Latin America. (Because the speaker - not me - is a Latin Americanist and believes they can find the keyboard and the sunset there, where they will unleash the gorillas to chase off the keyboard and save our heroes.)
@lmjb1964 Great Les Mis OTTification! I think you solved the problem I was struggling with in "Lucy" - by focusing on one sequence rather than the whole of Time. (So much Time, so little to OTTify...)
@ggh (PP947) Batmolpies! Woo hoo!
@Kieryn Good good night! Hats OTT to you!
@Niel_Boekend (PP948) 8-) <---
@Kieryn Do you think the flash on Geekwagon is the often-mentioned "blue flash/green flash"? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_flash
@ttscp Feel better soon!
@mscha @taixzo @Kieryn @thirds Wonderful starfinding, looking forward to the next ONG!

ETA: ACK! Pagepope! Keep finding constellations, or enjoy the stars if you don't.

Growing up there were always some stars and constellations (Orion, Big Dipper) but less and less as time went on. I remember the first time I saw the Milky Way in rural New Hampshire when I was 20. Definitely WOW inducing.

Not going to do an ottifiction, ottification or try to identify star fields but thought I should at least drop in and say hi, since I've been keeping up with the OTC here and browsing/skimming/skipping/perusing the OTT through the reign of many popes, mopes and other hatted folk.

I think it was the reference to The Headless Chickens that forced me to make the leap from Lurker, after 950 pages. This thread really is heading toward having every pop culture reference. mscha hasn't been trying to cram the missing references in for a while now, perhaps we have them all?

Anyway, hi, keep up the good efforts!

There's one on page 124 too, so a warning on 123 would be good. (The 125 and 126 posts should be fixed this evening, per PM.) I've had no luck reaching the poster for the one on page 124.

She's (assumed gender) the one we call La Petite. And when she will return is one of the big unanswered questions along with why the sea is rising, why Megan and Cueball are so clueless and yet so smart, and where on earth (or not) this is all happening.
You'll just have to wait for it along with the rest of us. Speculation is encouraged however.

I'm not saying it's definite, it doesn't quite line up right (Sirius is not in the right location), but it's not that far off - definitely not Orion though, the belt of Orion is quite faint in comparison to the other component stars.

I thought about Orion, too.. discounted it, but then had a thought. There are lots of us in this thread who have completely different skies/constellations based on where we are on this planet. Orion would look different to the Southern Hemisphere than it does to those of us in the Northern Hemisphere.

Well, underneath my clothes, I was entirely naked. So I complied.

And, speaking of reading the tread, I'm ready to report my findings back from NP 639:

StratPlayer wrote:
Exodies wrote:We often imagine that the OTC is influenced by the Tread, and sometimes it stretches credibility to think the synchronicity is coincidence. But what if the Tread is influenced by the OTC?

??? I'm perplexed... I've, I've just never imagined this. Maybe I should go out and start measuring my tires to determine if there is a correlation between what happens in the OTC and thy depth of my tread. I'll report my findings as data is accumulated...

My measurements are complete and the results are undeniable -- Clearly the OTC and my tires are related. The longer the OTC runs, the thinner my tire tread becomes. I'm not sure how the GLR is managing this phenomenon, but suffice to say that a bill for four new tires will soon be arriving at Mr. Randall's office...
Former Forever member of the OTT, now moved on to other things sucked back in by the wowterful wonder of the thread...

karhell's letters to the Denizens of the OTT
Chapter 4, verses *can'tbebuggeredtocheck* to *can'tbebuggeredtocheck + 3*

===== Summary =====
As Cuegan walk along, the mood in the OTT seems to lighten.
Simultaneously, vegetation appears.
Also, I'll try to properly spoiler the whole thing

===== Sigcouragement ! =====
Spoiler:
NP 558, I notice my very first sigcouragement, by Vytron, no less !
Vytron wrote:Keep treking karhell!

This is almost surreal, and caused me to stop for a minute with a persistant silly grin. Vytron, you just made my xip, possibly even my wip (if the terms are still acknowledged)

===== Tech fun =====
Spoiler:
airdrik linked to the babbage language spec which includes a JUST IN CASE statement. I must admit, that was a fun read, and I'd be curious to see it actually implemented. I also noted it contains a WHAT IF statement... Indeed, It's all related !

===== WMG =====

ucim wrote:I doubt it. This is a full-length movie, with a complete story arc, character development, conflict and resolution, challenge and defeat and victory, which he's delivering one frame at a time. I'm sure he has it all planned out in his mind, and is drawing a respectable amount ahead of himself (but doesn't have the whole film in the can). He's already dropped Chekov's gun (I'll resist the temptation to post a TVTropes link; go at your own risk!), and the two are presently on a quest. They will find what broke the river, maybe they will try to fix it and find they can't; at least not without help. There will be some vested interests in maintaining the broken river; perhaps there will be a trebuchet war with raptors. The tide (of battle, not of the sea) will turn several times, La Petit will return in a surprising manner, and Cueball may become a Clueball and save the day.

It's not like he doesn't have any characters to draw upon, and it's not like he doesn't have any ideas... it's like, well... wait for it.

Interesting idea, I'm finding myself wanting that to happen ^^
...as for TVTropes... Won't fall for it, I've been there long enough to almost know the article by heart :D

Okay with this new information, we can actually start putting them on specific earth locations, and with the planet specific times!

Are the relative positions of the constellations OK? The rest of the stars forScorpius?, etc? Oh, Scorpius is below horizon in your image. Isn't W Casseopia?

I'm no expert, maybe I'll have to find a virtual planetarium myself now that you've done the hard work.

Edit 2: I knew I'd seen those stars before

I still don't see it. (Not that that means much...)

If you're right, it means that the sun is pretty close to Scorpius and Saggitarius. (Not sure if the sun was just in them, or is about to be in them.)
Which makes it either autumn or early winter. I think...

I'm using stellarium which really helps see the sky as you would with your naked eye. Everything pretty much lines up - there are minor discrepancies but it's overwhelmingly accurate. I'm trying to pin-point the earth location. From what I can tell so far it almost certainly seems southern hemisphere due to the downward slant of scorpius' tail, but I'm not certain yet.

Sagittarius is also the exact direction of the center of our galaxy.
