Speak quieter.

Yet it's a very natural reaction. People will invariably sooner or later start yelling when trying to explain something to somebody who doesn't unsterstand their language...

Or, quite frequently, to somebody who does...

That being said, I must to dreamland. Keep those hat requests coming :D It's a nice relaxation from a stressful day, and I do enjoy doing it. Anyway, raptor down!

(On a side note, when I was searching for images of a sleeping dragon, and came across one I liked - this one, actually, oddly enough- but it was too large, I clicked more size and got...this. Apparently, a sleeping dragon is not unlike an internal combustion engine :) Also, it seems the image search heuristic missed...well...all of the other sized ones I found later down the page

Don't know about the OTT, but the OTC now (frame M2691) contains 489 lines of dialogue, with ca. 2789 words (including chirps, thwaps and what seem to be words in beanish).

I have finished writing the final summary for the beloved Mountain Era on the wiki, certainly the most majestic of all the eras so far. And, since all the period write-ups are done for that one, I officially declare the Mountain Era signed, sealed, and delivered, as the most completely chronicled era of Time. And it has been a great pleasure to chronicle it. :)

@ChronosDragon: eerie how similar the dragon and those engines are! But it gave me a good laugh.

Ah, they are giving Quegan food and drink. A telltale sign that they'll be sacrificed to the volcano soon.

Obviously each character in that Beanish speech represents a person - the three Beanies and Cuegan. It's already graphic.

(I don't know how well this translates)

Each character represents a character, but not every character does have character?

I'd bet "This way".

Anyway, I don't think speculations about the drink being drugged are necessary (but why stop dark theories now?). They said they thought they could reach the area with the other people "by night", some of the journey was offscreen, it has been many newpix, they made a late start on the day as it was, the day involved heavy climbing and both Cueball and Megan are on short-sleep... it'd be pretty amazing if they were NOT tired.

I'm waiting for them to meet the Ancient Beanie Elder who knows the secret of English.

So, are we going to see inside the dwelling? I'm hoping for "Home Sweet Home" in beanish on the wall.

I hope we don't just stare at this scene for a few newpix, and then see the BBunch and Megball emerge well rested.

Yeah, just gotta wait for it. I do believe I'll coma now.

ETA: I vote that the sixes and longtails are indeed the same character.

Take a look and enjoy!

A shot from inside the hut. As they enter their eyes must adjust (as we have discussed at length here). Thus they can't see a thing.
As their eyes adjust they'll see a red glow from a lava golem, their god. Thus ends Time.

The lack of a ° in the last sentence before the black is another indication that ° is a question mark. That sentence is probably not a question. More like "Mind your head" or "Please meet our God".

Okay, I did a closer examination of the longtails/sixes in Beanish speech (encouraged by rmcurtis). These are all that have appeared so far, enlarged 4x and sharpened. From this, I think it's safe to say that the sixes (green arrows) are indeed longtails. I'll be grouping them together in my next Beanish Update. This will make longtails the largest symbol grouping. It is very difficult to tell on some of these if the little hook at the end is closed, or open. (If anyone can do a better job of enhancing them, that would be awefulsome). I think it's possible that they are all meant to be open. It's also possible that the closing of the loop is done via a diacritic marking. I also noticed that the "69" duo repeats (yellow lines); it appears in both Speech 4 and Speech 6 (the most recent).

For comparison, the uploaded image symbols:

By wildest coincidence I was chatting with friend about languages and alphabets. He happened to mention the Korean Hangul script, which led me to wondering about the various simplified Japanese scripts, which led me to the wikipedia page on Hiragana.

Hypothesis: that Beanish is based (at least loosely) on Hiragana? I'm no linguist nor logophile, so it's pure guesswork based on "Well, they look a bit similar." It also seems to me that various dots/small circles are being used as accents/vowels (such as in Hebrew.) fwiw...

No. It really is all related.

I was thinking the same thing earlier, mikro2nd - Hiragana was my first thought when I saw the initial Beanish newpix, and I was disappointed to see the symbols didn't match.

This is bugging me for a while: What does **** mean? BlitzGirl's United Molpyarmy? Maybe I didn't coma long enough to get it.

Oh, that's supposed to stand for BlitzGirl-Uploaded Manip; I was adding a unique word that would be easy to search in my posts. (And I'm keeping it that way, at least until I forget and accidentally quote it sometime!)

So GLR does not use a font but draws the graphemes by hand (as he does with the latin ones, too, I guess).

Yeah. And he's very good at it too (guess he's had a lot of Othercomic practice)! Handlettering like that is actually tricky work, as I found out with my Boom De Yadas.

Also, I just wanted to point out that I totally called this ONG on Newpage 531. (Of course, I was thinking of an overhead view...)

NOW I'm worried. Beanie speeches 1-5 had a punctuation mark over the last character - a circle (likely a question mark) or a dash (seemingly a fullstop). Speech 6 has none. I don't like breaks in a pattern :/

Now that we're following the Beanies, maybe their language will appear in english, and if Cuegan ever come back, theirs would be in a new strangely-formed script :)
At least this one will be easy to decode (3 letters= wow, 4 letters= neat)
Waiting for it: Map of Time, same, no JS, Ages of Time.
