On that note, I wonder if Cuegan and the Beanies are vegetarian. We haven't seen them hunting molpies of any kind.

Something that should give the British 90s kids a little nostalgia...

Megan and Cue, Megan and Cue
Walking along with the Beanie crew
Megan and Cue, Megan and Cue
And Randall draws it all!

We're on a quest, to have a look
To see why the sea is rising up
The world drifts by with each newframe
And Megan and Cue we play our games...

Duckymolp: Quack!!

Megan and Cue, Megan and Cue
Finding molpies every day
Megan and Cue, Megan and Cue
And Randall writes them down!

ETA for decree: What we need is a few good taters. Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew... Lovely big golden chips with a nice piece of fried fish...

That's like writing "don't think about cake". Now I cannot think about anything other than cake. But if I were able to think about non-cake it probably would be tasty maple-bacon something.

Thanks :) …the more I think about it, the more I realise how similar Megball actually are to Rosie and Jim. Their individual character roles, their dynamic as a duo, the way they're travelling around learning about things… :P

Let's just hope one of the Beanies doesn't do a Gollum and try to frame Cue and make Meg think he's stolen it all...

Valarya wrote:Alright, guys. This isn't Dream Theater or Les Miserables epic. In fact, it's not epic at all. But it is VAL'S FIRST FILK. I've been thinking of doing this song for quite some time...

Waiters and Sand
An OTTification of Heroes of Sand by Angra.
LaPetite!
Nothing to see
Like a stick figure ghost
She creeps in the pane
Forever a mystery.

Close my eyes
Rising won't cease
Crawling down to the edge
To build a small dike
It comes from the river small.

And goes.. into the sea. Oh...

Pack! Leave!
Moving ahead
Find the source of the rising
leaving our castle. Bye.

Walk! Climb!
Losing my head
The air up here is different
not like our home - down there...
The castle will fade some day

When the raptors attack
They shed blood of poor Meg
Cueball helps out
with the flag from the sand.
The sun goes down
And the stars light the land
Dreaming of their castle on the sand.

Haunted by the longish night
Cueball is keeping his watch.
When Megan wakes up she'll
tell Cueball that she's OK!

As they meet their new friends
Beanie bunch of the land
they save the day
with their paste and their hands.
Cuegan get rest
With their hearts in their hands
Dreaming of their castle on the sand.

On the sand.

I disagree. It's completely epic! Well done. 8-) 8-)

I don't know the band, but this song at least is giving me flashbacks to Kansas for some reason. (Which makes me think of OTTifying "Carry On Wayward Son," but I'm not sure anyone would remember the song.)
I agree, it's wonderful! And, Rule110, pppbbbbllllltttt. There are several Otters old enough to remember, and the level of curiosity among Otters in general assures that at least some of the young'uns are vaguely familiar with Kansas' major works. Besides, YouTube. And besides besides, knowing the originating song only helps you get the tune right the first go-around. After that you either go see the original, or use your own tune! :P

A person can say the same thing three times, all with different emphasis; and when the words are written we need to show those differences.
We wouldn't just write:
"Water"
"Water"
"Water"
We write:
"Water."
"Water?"
"Water!"
To mimic the way it was said.

I'm suggesting that because Cueball understands emphasis, the beanish word should have a normal period or exclamation point after it. Not a beanish written symbol for a period or a beanish written symbol for an exclamation point after it.
That's the way punctuation is written in Beanong. If you saw a sentence written in Latin characters but with non-Latin punctuation, it might well be incomprehensible. You could make some strong inferences from the sentence itself and any context you have, but it would be really easy to get it wrong. Besides, it would be disrespectful, like saying someone else's language isn't as valid as yours.

Hmm...perhaps Mauna Kea in Hawaii? The top of that is maybe 30 miles from the sea, and it's 13,000 feet high if I remember correctly. (Although it's a little further south than New York. Prime baobab-growing climate though.)
Yes, I thought of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa (both on Hawaii) but they're directly on the Sea (actually, the Ocean. What does it mean that Cuegan use ‘Sea’ instead of ‘Ocean’?)* and there are watercourses everywhere, so unless we want to posit that a sudden-onset ice age has lowered sea-level considerably, Hawaii doesn't work. :|

*Probably that they're on a Sea. :P But that does imply either that they know ‘Ocean’ as well, or that GLR simply chose ‘Sea.’

In frame 2173, it looks to me as if Cueball stands in front of the treeε, while Megan is getting down behind it. It's not completely clear, but I'd say that the position of her arms and the missing white strands of hair (or better, the missing white lines that let us see black strands of hair) support this assumption.
Wait on.

678 Megan falls while hoisting bucket of sand to Cueball on the castle platform
1268 Megan falls while jumping on sand dune
1742 Cueball falls backward during snake encounter
2230 Although Cueball takes the brunt of the panther's atack, Megan is the one who is hurt (in 2235-2236)

expressions of discomfort:
2331 Megan expresses pain when jumping over stream
2639-2644 Cueball has to rest and catch his breath
2645 Megan comments on cooler temperature, although apparently neither is subsequently discomforted by it

conclusion:
Cueball is the more stoic one of the two, and Megan seems to be a bit "snakebit" [although Cueball is the only one who actually had an up-close encounter with a snake]

Spoiler:
Megan's fall involving the bucket came because she tried to haul herself up in the bucket, not sand.
Some more to add (all numbers mscha):

injuries/mishaps:
103: Cueball slips and wipes out the left side of the Sandcastle (the "fall of man" frame)
1029: Cueball slips on the river bank and loses his dilgunnerang
1434: Megan falls flat on her face, finds the ribbit two frames later
1886: Cueball is tackled by Megan (for fun)

expressions of discomfort:
1261: Cueball says "Oof." while walking up a sand dune
1495: Megan says "Oof." while climbing a slope
1821: First comment on cooler temperature by Megan

My conclusion is that they're about even at this point in terms of lucky/unluckiness. However, Megan might be a little more accident-prone because she's the one more eager to try adventurous things: hauling self in bucket, jumping dunes, jumping stream, looking around instead of at her feet (before the ribbit encounter). She's quite proactive. On the other hand, bad things just happen to Cueball. His accidents are just that, accidents. I read the Dialogue of Time again from start to finish, and it's remarkable how much their personalities have developed since the Sandcastle Eon.

additions (from Geekwagon):

expressions of discomfort:
    487 Cueball tasting the seawater
2048 Cueball prickled by the molpy
2171 Megan tasting the fruit in the wierd bush
2344 Megan's second mention of colder temperature
2354 Megan says she's not feeling great
2465 Megan says her leg still hurts
2598 Megan says climbing the tower hurt

Misc. musings:
1160 Megan says there aren't a lot of us by the shore this time of year. Shore = New Jersey?
1692 While following the sea, they were walking into the sun all morning. This put them walking east on the southern (or northern) coast of wherever they are, but New Jersey doesn't have a southern (or northern) shore.
2306 They are a day away from the mountain people, but a long way from the hill people. I would think that, from the sea, they would pass hills before reaching mountains, unless these features are in opposite directions.
2605 They say the thing in the tower is pointing toward their home, but looking back in 1797 they couldn't tell land from sky so how do they know where their home is, especially since they've never been this far away before?

CONGclusion:
They live in a wide valley near the southern (or northern) seashore of the land they're from, and near a river that flows southward (or northward) through the valley and into the sea to the east of their home. To the west of their home there are nearby hills with people who have come to the shore and with whom they have interacted in the past. To the east, across the river and far in the distance, there are mountains. They have never been there before but are travelling there now.

Prediction:
Nothing detailed, just that they will eventually return home and resume their lives on the shore. La Petit will bring them a welcome back cake.

There's a neat detail in this frame which I think is something new. Megan is walking behind the tree, while Cueball walks in front of it. It's like the slice of reality we are shown just deepened.

In frame 2173, it looks to me as if Cueball stands in front of the treeε, while Megan is getting down behind it. It's not completely clear, but I'd say that the position of her arms and the missing white strands of hair (or better, the missing white lines that let us see black strands of hair) support this assumption.

You're right. And I appear to be wrong about everything, today. Except this. I think.

Haha! I remember Rosie and Jim. Sometimes the theme tune still appears in my head out of nowhere.

I wasn't making assumptions about anyone's age, but I had doubts about whether the song had ever been all that popular. It rarely seems to come up on 70s playlists. (It doesn't sound like a typical 70's song, not then and not in retrospect. That's probably why I remember it.)

Anyhow, I'm willing to OTTify it, but so far no muse has given me any inkling of what to actually do with it. Perhaps its time in Time hasn't arrived yet. I do have a Talking Heads number almost ready, though. :)

I listen to one such station, 97.1 The River in Atlanta, and it's definitely in their rotation. They've played it 3 times in the last 48 hours actually, according to their last songs played tool.

True (although that tree doesn't look as deep as the new one). They've been also in front and behind the first tower, but not at the same time. (And they and the Beanies have only been behind the second tower.)

@Rule110 I'm looking forward to your take on The Talking Heads. They've been one of my favorite bands since I was a little molpy.

@Charm Quark 97.1 is the station I usually listen to when I'm driving through and around Atlanta (ever since DaveFM switched to sports talk). I've actually noticed that they do seem to love Kansas.
