A castle! And hand-holding!! I definitely picked the wrong day to give up exclamation marks!!!

Timelurker that was quite a spectacularly accurate prediction you made back on NP1102

yappobiscuits, that is a gorgeous picture! I'm tempted to install a multiple wallpaper app now so I can admire it and still get the latest updates from Wildhound.

IceIsNice wrote:So I know it's kind of a long shot, but maybe the Beanies are not building a castle. Maybe they're dismantling one. Old castles make a nice supply of readily-available cut stone. A castle may not be all that practical any more in their society, why not use the stone to build houses and walls and gardens and such for your growing city. This sort of scavenging used to go on all the time before people began to feel that the past is something worth remembering, worth preserving. Just consider the recent destruction of Mayan and Peruvian pyramids by construction companies. But I'm going off-topic here.

Very interesting theory! If we are in a post-apocalyptic scenario then that's a definite possibility. Makes sense logically and would also be a great twist in the narrative.

Hopefully we might find out one way or another in the next few newpix. Any estimates on how long it will take them to reach the castle?

*ahem* Hi. *shakes your hand* I'm a trumpet player. I'm better than you. :P jk jk - but I laughed. My daughter is 12 and sits 1st chair French Horn so we're a happy lil brass family. Brass is always better.. oops, did I do it again?

Yeah, it was contained within spoilered ketchups, sorry! Now, I don't deny that sometimes I think it would be easier not having to fuss with temperamental reeds... but it's all worth it.

Yappo, that was beautiful! Adding my accolades to the pile.

You guys sure were talkative today. My brain is a little mushy. I was promoted to managermolpy at work, effective today, so my shift was 8 hours of reading training manuals and policies. Then I came home to 11 newpages. My poor eyes. Now it's time to coma. Hopefully we'll learn more about the castle in the coming newpix!

I finally listened to everyone's voiceover samples (all three of them :P)... Yeah, Latent, I think you sound a bit too young for Cueball (I dunno how old you actually are, but you sound pretty young there anyway :P). BlitzGirl, your voice reminds me a lot of Cortana from the Halo series! Which is cool, not how I imagined Megan, but could work. Val, yours was great, I think you might work very well as Megan! Anyway, we need more, come on people, molpy up!

I'll even add mine to the pile (four lines instead of just one because I'm greedy :P) although I doubt we'll end up going for a British Cueball... still, just for fun :P

And with that, molpy down.

I don't think we've seen the last theory about the Beanies' hair/hat style yet. (I threw "Black Beanie Guy" out as a split-second response because of earlier remarks about the "Black Hat Guy". Everyone has just taken it up like "molpy" was. I'm kinda glad I was finally able to make a "mark" in the Sands of Time.)
In fact, the more I look at them, the more I start seeing some sort of Greek inspired hair-do.

Thanks! That's... rather amazing actually. I've put in a fair amount of shovel-time at the beach, but I can never attempt any sort of artistry, I'm always amazed at what people can do. (Instead, the kids and I tend to go for "functional" -- we build castles that have some sort of mechanical function. A frequent theme is to build some a roller coaster track for tennis balls, often involving crisscrossing tunnels. This has a tendency to attract every small child within a 100' radius to try rolling a ball themselves...)

Hmm, I have still missed one EOTEOT.

The beanies are building the castle, under the command of a misguided scientist that is trying to revive his long dead wife. Queball will be forced to build the castle and the equipment. Megan will be imprisoned but not harmed. She'll be treated well, but she won't be allowed to leave the castle. She'll live in a guilded cage.
Near the end of the castle build Queball will die in a terrible accident. Megan will be protected from the grief because she wasn't allowed contact anyway. After the castle and the equipment are complete the scientist will wait for a thunderstorm to form over the mountain. The day weather.com predicts a thunderstorm he'll pump halothane in her quarters, knocking her out. He'll perform a brain transplant, implanting her brain into Megan.
He'll strap her onto his equipment and raise the lightning conductor above the castle. A thunderbolt will strike.
That thunderbolt will kill the scientist and burn Megan's body, because this story obeys the laws of physics. Thus ends Time.

Some of us are interested in an audiobook version of the OTC, with fully voice acted Cuegan and sound effects and things. Pretty Neat idea, IMO.

On an unrelated note, I just PM'd davean with my alternate spoiler code, because the broken page here reminded me of it. Hopefully that clears things up.

Hmm, I second that, as much as I appreciate your comments :)

Also, if anyone can figure out which real-world mountain I based the shape of the main one (the one with the castle) on, you get a prize (probably cake-based).

I didn't notice any responses to this, but I'm going to guess Kilimanjaro, based on the flat top. It's almost flat enough to be Ayers Rock, but I wouldn't consider that to be a mountain.

A fourth Beanie! Neat! I don't know if xe has quite enough hair for Beardo. Perhaps the offspring of Beardo?

For the audio project, buffygirl, people have been uploading clips of themselves speaking one or two OTC lines just so we can hear each other's voices and see what we would sound like as Cueball or Megan. It's still at the very beginning stages, yappo's is the fourth upload we have so far. Nice clip, by the way, yappo - you would make a great British Cueball. :)

You say that as if I said "of course no Americans have ever left the country or seen a castle"... sorry if it came across that way, I simply meant that there aren't any castles in America so IF anyone who lives there has never been out of the country (which is perfectly believable, I've never been out of Europe), they wouldn't have seen a castle. Not making generalisations at all. My point was mainly that even if someone's never seen a castle they probably still know all about them.

Oh lord. I'm sorry.. I seem to be having this problem lately: not coming across very well in text. Apparently I am extremely terrible at conveying emotion, or am a bad 'writer.' Or perhaps I just don't emote hard enough? Either way.. I was being pretend-mad the entire post so that I could say 'castle' a bunch. I know you weren't implying anything.

Oh, *feels silly*... Sarcasm/joking is hard to convey in text isn't it...

It tells a tale. Where I am born you cannot travel along a major river without having a small castle in sight every 10 km. It looks like the battered lands spilled out warlords clan leaders created protective landed gentry. If there's a hill you could defend against a small army there has to be built a castle on top. No, the common commoner wasn't always satisfied with this development. Democracies weren't popular back then.

Since democracies aren't popular anymore today, too, I wonder wether it will rain castles (or scythes, for that matter) soon. Maybe that'll turn into a political figure of speech.

Well given modern weaponry (fear, surprise...) I think castle technology will require a significant upgrade.

If it starts raining castles we're all screwed. A hardhat won't protect you when you're smooshed to a pizza.
Scythes aren't fun, but they can probably be blocked by a custom carbon fiber umbrella.

Beanie 4 uses the same greeting as the person in front of the house, but Beanie 1 says something different. "Hi.", "Hello."?

I've updated the Setting page on the wiki again- I kinda feel bad that I only really update this one page, but it seems like a good idea anyway, to have a page of all the evidence that people can draw from. I've tentatively introduced referring to Cuegan's people (it is implied that they have a group) as the Unglish, in line with referring to their language as Unglish from a few newpages ago. It would be really great if people could take a look and see if they can think of anything that's missing!

Also, kenmelken, patzer, the main page list of important articles might be getting a bit seaish? Maybe it could be whittled down a bit and grouped into articles about the OTC and articles specifically about the OTT (the meta stuff)?

Edit: 100 posts! Strewth!
