I think Randall corrected the number of people so that the missing cousin was among these (2+6+12=20n but we see 19)

Ottermolpy Returns!

Postby yappobiscuits » Wed Jul 24, 2013 6:26 am UTC

Sweet sassy molassy… 26 27 28 29 page ketchup (the number rose while ketchupping) since I didn't get on yesterday… and because of that I miss newpage 1190 and frame 3000, as well as so much OTC excitement… Randammit!

OMR, Megball's people! Living in yurts! I guess we need more supporting voice actors now! Problem will be finding kids to voice the kids. We don't have anyone younger than late teens here, do we? Speaking of voice actors, I come back to find you seem to have chosen Valarya and me as your Megball! Thanks for voting, guys :)

only the songs with something in the "Singer" column have actually been sung.

Indeed. Also not listed on the wiki (presumably because they're only OTT and not OTC related and are also original rather than filks) are my celebratory 100 post and 200 post songs.

That's because the script did. I thought it was odd too, but went with the script.

Finally want to express love for some recent ottifications - Taixzo's "Still Alive" (Rosetta as GLaDOS indeed works brilliantly  ), 42guests' Waltzing Matilda, and Pfhorrest's Time Warp - all wowterful!

There isn't going to be a tsunami; sloshing guy doesn't know his hydrodynamics. They are caused by a very specific situation where a massive amount of water is instantaneously displaced by an explosive action like a underwater landslide or an earthquake causing the sea floor to thrust up. There could be a big burst of water if the dam goes all at once, but the turbulence will spend itself primarily in the Alboran basin, and it won't travel the distance a tsunami wave will. There may be some truly spectacular tidal bores, though, in confined spaces. It's still a lot of water moving fast. But they are on an open shore, with nothing to focus a tide or surge.

Actually, they're in a riverbed, which I imagine is exactly the kind of thing that would focus a tide or surge.

It would certainly feel narratively correct for La Petite to sail up in a raft, which she had built from the sandcastle structure and whatever she was dragging into frame when we last saw her.

It's a very sprawling one, though, given it's an intermittent river. It'd be like trying to focus water with the mouth of the Colorado River. You need things like the Bay of Fundy with high walls and a narrowing shape to get a real tidal bore.

Yup.

There was no point in putting Chekhov's Little French Girl on the beach in the first act unless she's going to triumphantly return with a raft in the third act.

Speaking of foreshadowing, I was just rewatching the whole OTCGW and noticed this important piece of foreshadowing I haven't seen mentioned as such before:

Image

Well what do you know, it did! "Your sea (...) with too few rivers. Under the sun it shrank and the water fell."

And then they noticed the water level rising,
we'll go a walking with Cueball and Meg.

They walked up the river, past all the sand dunes
past all the wow trees and the pretty wowterfall.
Then Megan and Cueball came upon a homestead,
and built a castle in the little front yard.

Walking with Cugan, walking with Cugan,
we'll go a walking with Cueball and Meg.
Then Megan and Cueball came upon a homestead,
we'll go a walking with Cueball and Meg.

Then a fearsome molpycat pounced on Cueball,
"You'll never take us alive!" Megan screamed.
She whacked that molpycat with a mighty thumper poll,
and with one last swipe the molpycat did flee.

Walking with Cugan, walking with Cugan,

She whacked that molpycat with a mighty thumper poll,

Megan and Cueball camped upon a hillock,
watching and waiting for break of day.
Stars and the planets spin above their circle heads,
and the bright sun drives away all night fears.

Limping with Cugan, limping with Cugan,
we'll go a limping with Cueball and Meg.
Stars and bright planets spin above their circle heads,
we'll go a limping with Cueball and Meg.

Up clambered our heroes, to the heights of the mountain,
they found a tall tower from which to see.
In the far distance they saw a glimmering,
it was the Beanies, with spoken squigglies.

Limping with Cugan, limping with Cugan,
we'll go a limping with Cueball and Meg.
In the far distance they saw a glimmering,

Megan was patched up with Beanie Neosporin (tm),
they were fed and watered, and tried to speak.
After Pictionary (tm), about USB fluent Beardo,
they went to the castle on a high mountain peak.

Walking with Cugan, walking with Cugan,
we'll go a walking with Cueball and Meg.
After Pictionary (tm), about USB fluent Beardo,

Beardo was a librarian with a lot of awesomemaps,
With broken speech, she taught all about their sea.
It was fast filling with unchecked torrents,
and their dear forty they nevermore will see.

Learning with Cugan, learning with Cugan,
we'll go a learning with Cueball and Meg.
Their sea was fast filling with unchecked torrents,
we'll go a learning with Cueball and Meg.

Up jumped Megball, and they pilfered all the awesomemaps,
and down the mountain Cuegan did fly.
Down past the towers and on to a shortcut,
racing flood waters, their families they spied.

Running with Cugan, running with Cugan,
we'll go a running with Cueball and Meg.
Down past the towers and on to a short-cut,
we'll go a running with Cueball and Meg.

Will Cueball and Megan save the forty Cuganites,
and bring them to high ground away from the sea?
Or will they perish along with all their salt flats?
They must run and we must wait and see.

Running with Cugan, running with Cugan,
we'll go a running with Cueball and Meg.
Or will they perish along with all their salt flats?
we'll go a running with Cueball and Meg.

So, you think Cueball's look is one of surprise at seeing their raft again, rather than horror at an approaching wave? Or maybe both?

EVERYONE hates that sound, and the worst of it is, that they always sound like they're right in your ear, even when they're not, and you can end up smacking yourself in the head over and over trying to kill one that's actually flying a foot away or something like that.

Don't we all. I can stand their bites. They itch for a couple of minutes and then just fade away. At night I don't even notice them in the first place. I wouldn't have any problem with the creatures if they just shut the chirp up! and let me sleep!
Maybe the Mosquito laser project will help, once it lowers the malaria rate (which is more important, although it doesn't feel like it on a hot night where I must open every ventilation I have to be able to sleep and these bastards come in and buzz around my head).

De-lurking to let y'all know that my wife went into labor 10 days ago and my new son was born right before the journey to Rosetta began. It's been a wild week on both the OTC and "new child" fronts. We're conveniently awake for feeding during the oncoming flood. Maybe I have a "one true child"? Hmm...

Re-lurking!
