After all the times I've referred to La Petite's Ark, I am so thrilled it actually happened.

Tie yourselves to the railings guys, and prepare to set sail for Spain!

Cueball is called Steve in http://xkcd.com/809/ - that came to mind because I recently read that OtherComic. His last name is Munroe, like GLR, in http://xkcd.com/135/ too. Though Rob is certainly the most frequent name, shows up in 8 or 9 OtherComics, I think.

The floating castle definitively needs propulsion... though paddles are kind difficult to make on the spot, maybe poles for punting might work. And someone who knows how to punt, because thats a lot more difficult then it looks ;)

Super-fast after-coma ketchup:
taixzo wrote:I know this one has been OTTified before, but I was just thinking about what it would be like from Rosetta's perspective and I had to do this one:
Still Alive
(Based on Still Alive by Jonathan Coulton)

Spoiler:
This is a problem;
I'm making a map here; understand!
Now another sea will come and flood yours!
We are the beanies;
we do what we can because we must.
For the good of all of us,
except the ones that we missed!

But there's no sense crying over those who are gone;
you must say goodbye from here so you can move on!
You have walked too far to die - it is suicide to try!
You must stay here where you're still alive.

And I'm really sorry;
We did not know about your tribe.
Even though we asked the ones who lived there;
You say they don't like you?
So maybe they hoped for you to die.
But you came to us because
you have a future up here;

Now these points we've surveyed make a beautiful line,
and we're sure we're safe inside this castle of mine.
So I'm glad that you're here, you have nothing more to fear
Now you're safe here and you're still alive...

Go 'head and leave me;
I think I prefer to stay inside.
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you.
Maybe the Beanies!
That was a joke: Haha, fat chance.
We will not risk lives for you,
because you stole all our maps!

Look at me still talking when there's science to do,
and I look down there, it makes me glad I'm not you!
There's a torrent coming in, you can't fight it, you can't win!
In the Château d'If, we're still alive.
I'm on a mountain and I'm still alive.
I'm doing research and I'm still alive.
I'm in a castle and I'm still alive.
While you're dying, I'll be still alive.
And when you're dead I will be still alive, still alive, still alive.

Neat! I love it.

As for the OTC, wow! That was some La Petite Ex Machina!
Time. The final frontier. These are the voyages of Cueball and Megan. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Now we need a voice actor for LaPetite! Needs to be a younger voice but maybe someone can fake a young voice if needed.

Also I have just done a test render of the whole OTC so far into a video for the OTVO project. It only has a small bit of voice over audio from the test script in it so I wouldn't recommend watching the whole thing as it may be a bit tiresome to watch it all. And the dropbox interface for watching it is not great as it doesn't let you skip forward to the few bits with audio! Just a proof of concept right now.

This implies that, at this point, GLR is building these frames on the fly as he's going. It looks like he needed the structure to put LaPetit's boat together and then he accidently put the original frame in the wrong place.

I'm all set then, as I am absolutely terrible at remembering names, so I have to say "Hey there" to everyone. I recognize the faces, who they're related to (or their job function at work); but names float away like refuse from the Hills on the River.

Prediction: they all get on the castle/raft, and attach small firebaskets to their bags/bladders, turning them into mini-hot-air balloons. The entire raft floats away until they return to Rosetta's Stone (get it?) Castle. In their joy, they knock the firebaskets down, causing the raft to simultaneously catch fire and crash into the castle, which turns out to be made of pure magnesium. Thus Ends Time.

But will the rope be strONG enough?

Yep. Looks like we've found a suitable source of propulsion for them. :lol:

Spoiler:
This is a problem;
I'm making a map here; understand!
Now another sea will come and flood yours!
We are the beanies;
we do what we can because we must.
For the good of all of us,
except the ones that we missed!

But there's no sense crying over those who are gone;
you must say goodbye from here so you can move on!
You have walked too far to die - it is suicide to try!
You must stay here where you're still alive.

And I'm really sorry;
We did not know about your tribe.
Even though we asked the ones who lived there;
You say they don't like you?
So maybe they hoped for you to die.
But you came to us because
you have a future up here;

Now these points we've surveyed make a beautiful line,
and we're sure we're safe inside this castle of mine.
So I'm glad that you're here, you have nothing more to fear
Now you're safe here and you're still alive...

Go 'head and leave me;
I think I prefer to stay inside.

I loved this, especially 'we do what we can because we must'. If I can find the file I used to make my Mac sing Still Alive, I'll use it to sing this version. :) Also rvloon's ottification of Paint it Black was neat.

I'm sorry for not paying much attention to a lot of the other ottifications; I am biassed towards ottifications of songs I know well, since I don't have to wait for a convenient time and place to listen to the originals, and then remember where they are in the thread, and go back and read them while listening, all while there's a lot of ketchup to do.

As soon as I saw those white things by the yurts, I wondered if they were the same things LaPetite was dragging onto the beach. They sure look like it. And hey... my prediction about LaPetite coming in an ark made from the structure and the things she dragged onto the beach (which I think others had made before me) was correct, apart from the part about LaPetite being Hillish. :shock: Image

It's been posted in some forms before, but it's appropriate now....

Again, I'm still way back. My pixbot caught this one also at the same time (8 minutes before an ong). Probably mustard. The hash is not new.

This implies that, at this point, GLR is building these frames on the fly as he's going. It looks like he needed the structure to put LaPetit's boat together and then he accidently put the original frame in the wrong place.

Well, not necessarily on the fly. It could have happened at any time.

I think it's big enough for everyone AND supplies (Cuegan really overbuilt that sandcastle-frame!) but they really should sweep the sand off the top to make it less top-heavy. Guide it up the filling rivers with strong people on ropes; kids and supplies float on board? Looks like a workable strategy, assuming no cataclysmic waves. Still may need to send runners to the scavengers in the hills if they're not scavenging near THIS river...
