Now that's just indecent, chastising newpixbot for using a bad word and then teaching it a worse one.

Edit: I've been blitzing Garfield minus Garfield, and found a few references to Outside and hats that seem relevant, but this one is even more related. Do any of you need dental care?

Beautiful newframes Kieryn! I was about to start figuring out where it would be light out until after 11pm, then I remembered we got the location as North England in the earlier slides.

I'm loving the Lucky newpix latent22 :D Even if newpixbot does seem a little bitter...

Also, someone just linked me this gif. I thought it was rather appropriate for what us OTTers felt when we hit T** **D:

Molpy up! Image Time for a new poem, based off of the fifth iteration of the epilogue cycle. The pattern is a clone of the first one, but since it began on a different "line," it can be interpreted as a different rhyme scheme.

My first poem, "Time has Flown," used the rhyme scheme EDCBA ECDA EDCBA EDCCDC BABA. This one uses BAEDC BAECD AEDC BAEDC CDC BA. I ended up using a lot of assonance to make my own near-rhymes where the rhyme scheme didn't allow for it. Hopefully it's a little cheerier in feel - I intended the tone to contrast with the melancholy "When Time is Gone."

Still Going

Take a look, catch a glance of this needle-pulled thing
Dive into the sea of pastposts and you'll see what I mean
Time is over, said and done, but they don't seem to understand
For the thread keeps on a-growing
And the OTTers keep a-quoting

Is it sad that they remain dangling on this old string?
They still seem quite hopped up on mysterious caffeine
You'd think since it all is done they'd find reason to disband
But the OTTers keep a-noting
Keep the conversation flowing

I don't think this is something that could have been forseen
They keep on swimming though there's scads of dry land
New art they keep a-showing
Still the OTTers keep a-doting

Tell me now, would they respond if I threw a life-ring?
No, they'd stay on the run and defy the Outside scene!
As they spiral through Time's traces taking destiny in hand
A future they themselves are sowing
Hopes the OTTers keep a-floating

With their quoting
With their showing
With their noting

Take a look, catch a glance of this needle-pulled thing
Dive into the sea of pastposts and you'll see what I mean

I figured since no one has started, I'd go ahead and try my hand at Ottifying the Journal series of comics (#374, 377, 405, 432, and 433).
I'm actually starting with journal 4, reflecting what many of us here felt at a certain time when we found out:
Image
(title text, either: "..." or something like "it's a good thing there's still the OTT and everyone there is going through the same thing")

As for the other ones, I will be using blitzgirl's image in the expected places, and will do what I can to put together a story that fits (suggestions, recommendations, and image snippets welcome)

Is there a place on the wiki that holds the smilie repository too? I keep looking for it and not finding it. I would attempt to add it but I'm afraid that would surpass my abilities and I'd screw it up and not be able to fix it back. Dare I try?

Yes you can try. If you screw up there are a couple of OTTers with the wiki skilz to reverse your edits so you can try again.

Okay, I did it! It seems to have worked. Took a while, though. Image

How it not a smiley? Because it still looks like the original and not "cartoonised"? I did try it that way but preferred the more realistic version. Also I gave it a transparent background, and had to draw all the squiggly bits by hand because their colour was too close to the background to simply extract it from the original, AND I went over a lot of the rest by hand too so it stood out more - it isn't just as simple as shrinking the original!

Since there is no reason for not pointing that out in public: Of course, I tried smileyfying my avatar by myself, before. And I failed for the reasons Yappo lists. Well, he mastered them, so the obvious reaction is: Thank you, Yappo. :-)

Kind of reminds me of the chant/song that Willy Wonka sings/recites in the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie during the trippy row boat trip.
Which being relevant to the OTT I will ottify:

Round the thread and home again
That's the Otter's way
Faster faster, faster faster
There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're ottowing^
Or which way the thread's flowing
Is it raining, is it snowing
Is a zanclean flood a-blowing
Not a mustard pixel is showing
So the danger must be growing
Are the fires of gimp a-glowing
Is the paint-dot-net mowing
Yes, the blitz quest must be growing
For the otters keep on ottowing^
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing

I wonder if Randall read my (or anyone's) comments on his blag. If he did, I wonder what he thinks of the jerks (as in chain jerking).
Hehe, chain jerking. This is where one person is a jerk and passes it on to another, like a chain letter. Oh, that's just passing on negativity to others and having it spread. Hrm. :(

If you want to discuss this, take it to PM. Otherwise, give it a rest. I for one will, as I don't see the discussion nor the comments add anything relevant nor funny nor entertaining to those who are still here.

Funny. You can choose to ignore these tidbit replies from the past yourself, as well, too, also. Don't forget, only you can prevent flame wars. Realize that, as you say, it was from 30+ pages back, so water under your bridge. Hmm. Water? It's all related. Hmm, there was no fire in Time, so no fire here. Problem solved.

(title text, either: "..." or something like "it's a good thing there's still the OTT and everyone there is going through the same thing")

Did you notice that the original title text says something about hats? :D

I did, I thought about it for a while, but I couldn't come up with anything good (well, I considered something like "Man, this emo ch*rp was supposed to be for outsiders who didn't have hats", but OTTers (like myself) who don't have hats are equally likely to be emotionally affected while outsiders (with or without hats) are not likely to be emotionally affected; unless we want to take the viewpoint of BHG being an outsider who ended up being emotionally affected ...)

I added some categories but my sorting was quick and dirty, so feel free to improve on it. I noticed Patzer added the Time Artwork page I suggested, thanks for that. The wiki gets better every day :D

Influence of Time on my work:
In June I was working on this Recurrence Plot calculating program. Today I made small changes in it and noticed something:
The UI has a text field. During the calculation of recurrence plots the text field displays the number of already calculated plots. But When the data is short enough that the user decides to use one big recurrence plot to cover the whole dataset, it does not display the number of plots because there will be just one, instead it tells the user to wait. and what words does it use to do this? Yes, WAIT FOR IT.

Thanks marchlight! Also note that I've specified that it is also summer and 1994 and it's actually a true story. Everything I have told so far (and to come) is true and the events I will depict all really happened.

If you wanted, you could probably figure out (using the view of the hill) pretty much the precise location (to within a few hundred meters or so) but I used a little artistic license on the actual field, so you won't find a perfect match for it.

Treeish! I added table organization. There's an Artist column for the custom smileys, but for most of them (apart from yappo's batches of OTTers) I couldn't remember off the top of my head who made what, so if the artists or others could add their names, that would be great: Smiley wiki page

I'm surprised you didn't remember that the Mopey Mome, Ketchup and Sad Aluisio were also by me! (Especially the ketchup, since that's what inspired my boom de yada frame :P) ...oh and the Beanie and Rosetta were me too.

Anyway, I've added those in. Highly treeish* job on the organisation!

*Neat, both figuratively AND literally! ;)

P.S. This is the last of the animated Lucky attacks... Unless I get some inspiration for something trully epic/funny.

I remembered that you made more of them, but I couldn't remember which ones! You're just so ch*rping prolific (though I honestly should have remembered the ketchup)!

I was about to suggest you add a link to the repository from the wiki, then realised I'd already done that. How about the opposite though?
