Do not lose hope - this is a natural cycle for any blitzer. I had some dark periods myself wandering amid the pastposts. A dissoblitzer* like yourself has it slightly better, retrieving messages from your bot from the future...much the same way sigcouragement bolstered me in the earlier newpages. Your ottification is so true, and very treeish. Keep it up! You can make it!
Oh, and there will be no firing of redundakitty cannonballs! No wonder they're hiding from you!
*Trying out another newword here. Other options I considered: mayoblitzer, mroblitzer, shadowschitzoblitzer.
Such great Blitzgirling encouragement from BlitzGirl the First, thank you! I certainly could use a word for what I'm doing. I'm still at an early enough stage that the OTT hasn't begun to work out the distinctions between different Blitzing techniques. Let's go with dissoblitz, assuming the intent is that I am "dissassociated" from the Present but still have 2-way communication.
"Mayonnaising" is a similar concept, here's the post
where you established it as more than a different name for ketchup (and that wasn't enough, you wrote a song
!); with more usage examples from @Vytron here
during what was apparently some extended debate about how OTTers should format their posts. You're right in not picking it for what I'm doing.
I've been blitzing this way long enough to figure out the reason I can do this without going schizo: I am not using the web browser to read any older or newer Newpages
. That's a firm rule. All the pastpages and futurepages (any OTT apart from the Newpage I'm currently Blitzing) is plain ASCII (well actually RHTF
) which I search like in the screenshot in section 0 above. I have to manually copy URLs like this gif smiley
into a browser to see what they are without exposing myself to the OTT itself. It would be torture to Blitz that way but I just do this to do research (like the mayo question) and finding my name so I can answer things.
It's kind of like listening to the news on the radio, then reading a chapter of a book, then back to the radio. I can keep them apart quite easily because they're in different media.
So I'm blitzing, but instead of just blindposting my signposts/status reports I am also blindposting replies to people who mentioned me in their recent posts. Mayo-NOW-se is keeping a tab open to the present, my thing is like mayo without the oil OR eggs OR lemon juice. Hmmm, maybe it's just salt. Blitzing with a pinch of salt?
The kitty was safe, I had Nopixbots holding a safety net to catch him.
My Nopixbots are the very latest from Sirius Cybenetics, and their fundamental design flaws are completely hidden by their superficial design flaws. They rarely ever do anything nasty to redundakitties (except that one time...)
Uhh, nothing to see here, move along!
Valarya wrote:I believe I've said this several times.. but you are so well-spoken and creative in all your time-capsule past present posts that I don't know what we'd do without them. They're the chirping sparkly new addition to this needle pulled thing and help make it what it is now, post T** E**. So thank you. And please keep going.
I definitely will keep going, and your acknowledgements from the very first
have been taken to heart, bouncing otters
to warm molpies
and all! I am honored. And in case you don't remember, you inspired the Cthluhu-Madness theme
(oops, I think the kitties got frightened again...) and it was your reply that got me to decide to invent @Timborme
, without whom my blitz would be nowhere near as fun...
The mood of this latest post has a similar 'feeling' to Marvin the Martian from, of course, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
. I say that in a complimenting manner because the apathetic tone made your RetrOTTification that much funnier.
Well, that's a good thing, then.
... you know, someone could mashup this
with xkcd 23
using Marvin quotes from here...
but it's not OTTRELATED
But oddly, though I wasn't thinking of it, I've channelled Marvin in the past; back when I was a college junior the Macintosh was brand-new; in my final newsletter for the term
I personified the talking Mac as an insecure Marvin because Macintalk
sounded pretty much the same. Everyone loved it.
So I knew this was a bit of a downer, even after I toned it down a bit (a downer toned down, I guess that means I toned it up?). You should have heard what I dictated into my phone voicememos in the car two dix earlier. I was picking up my mother from hospital, definitely coma-deprived (a lot scarier than it sounds
) and "in a mood" (more a
mood than a
mood, if you're keeping track at home) when I saw how quickly my post (like all the other gems we create) gets buried back in the obscurity of P-N
Newpages behind the Present, for N
larger than this
). These moments of coma-deprived self-doubt are part of the artistic experience and it is good to acknowledge them. When I look back at my work (maybe a wip or two later) I'll usually look at some bit of it and "Hey, that really is good, how the ch*rp did I think of that?"
Then I know it was worth it. I'm creating this stuff to add to the collection of OTTish stuff that we can all enjoy in the future.
