Look at Cuegan, you see,
Cuegan are building.
Look at the castle they built
See it is crumbling.

When it's Ended now,
Are we here, in vain?
We're OTTifying,

Always, I want to live through Time
And play around with Time,
Cause there's nothing else to follow right now

Always, I want to live through Time
And play around with Time,
Cause there's nothing else to follow right now

Having an adventure,
The sea is rising.
Why is that, we don't know.
It's Zanclean flooding.

When it's Ended now,
Are we here, in vain?
We're OTTifying,

Always, I want to live through Time

If the timer expires without being ninja'd, then the newpixbox(s) build castles for you, based on how many you have, and various boosts you may have.
The ninja stealth streak refers to how many NP in a row you manage to NOT ninja the newpixbots, but still click for sand. (I.E. you "Wait For It", then after the newpixbot timer expires, you have until the next ONG to click at least once. If you just leave it running and never click for sand, you don't get the streak)

Such a songterful page, and I love all of blitz girls ottified nursery rhymes. Somehow you manage to obey the pope every single post.
I'll try one now:
Megan had a raptorcat it's fur was black as ash
And when Lucky and Megan met, it gave her quite a gash

Edit derp: this is a new page. Oh well.
I made my avatar, Buffygirl hatted it, Yappo smileyed it and ggh taroted it!
I've changed, witnessing this thing so beautiful

Good luck on blitzing, katakissa, username5243, musthavebeenmykarma, iskinner, thunk, GnomeAnne, and quantized ! Keep the signposts coming, we love em in the now!

Febrion! Hello! :D

Thanks for answering the question. Apparently I'd been clicking for sand and not ninja'ing newpixbots so I had a stealth streak and didn't realize it. :P

Huh - I did not know that. I always thought it was an odd lullaby and then when it came time for me to sing it, I felt suddenly enlightened: gah! why won't you sleep without constant rocking? I'm gonna tie you up in a tree in a damn gale - see how you like that! But, sung sweetly of course. Of course, I didn't feel like that. I could just see how someone might.

Haha, true! I can see that.

The ONG clock (and the basement too) is a reused scene from my earlier I've got lost in space film (polish; english sublitles). I wanted to show how pointless the clock was (the original, not the ONG one). I'm talking how much valuable equipment we have on our spaceship but the clock I'm showing you hangs on its side and has no pointers. And there is an outdated train timetable from a newspaper hanging upside-down below the clock. A moment later I use this completely nonfunctional clock to tell that we should take off in a moment. The clock in the Solar Wind film hangs like that just because I liked it that way.

I really like this calendar. cool idea.

At some point I had the idea of doing a similar thing with fox (to help save a nature preserve near where I live)... it never went anywhere, though we did manage to save the land... by buying it back at a hefty premium from the corporation that was going to mustard it up. Loved seeing the lobsters, especially in the ottie! (The other manips were also very treeish, but that one took the cake, and the cupcakes, and the c**kies too!)

Six months, 1500 pages, wow. 3000 pages a year. (Well, it will probably be less than that since the EOT, but we're still chugging along at a nice 3 NP/dip clip.

Well, I see that Jose posted a new Acts of the Clerics on the next page (and I'm in it!), so looks like he escaped the Vittsagen (Ja. And sp?) And FTFY.

I'm in the middle of some web updates I really need to finish, so I think I'll save the new Acts and all the 1500 cake for when I can relax and enjoy them. Or until I can't stand the suspense anymore. Plus I'm having actual IRL cake in a bit.

1. Dissoblitzing, and That Artsy Angsty Thing
Replies to @BlitzGirl and @Valarya (also mentioning @Vytron); Mainly spoilered for seaishnessƧ:
Spoiler:
BlitzGirl wrote: Do not lose hope - this is a natural cycle for any blitzer. I had some dark periods myself wandering amid the pastposts. A dissoblitzer* like yourself has it slightly better, retrieving messages from your bot from the future...much the same way sigcouragement bolstered me in the earlier newpages. Your ottification is so true, and very treeish. Keep it up! You can make it!

Oh, and there will be no firing of redundakitty cannonballs! No wonder they're hiding from you! Image

*Trying out another newword here. Other options I considered: mayoblitzer, mroblitzer, shadowschitzoblitzer.
Such great Blitzgirling encouragement from BlitzGirl the First, thank you! I certainly could use a word for what I'm doing. I'm still at an early enough stage that the OTT hasn't begun to work out the distinctions between different Blitzing techniques. Let's go with dissoblitz, assuming the intent is that I am "dissassociated" from the Present but still have 2-way communication.

"Mayonnaising" is a similar concept, here's the post where you established it as more than a different name for ketchup (and that wasn't enough, you wrote a song!); with more usage examples from @Vytron here and here during what was apparently some extended debate about how OTTers should format their posts. You're right in not picking it for what I'm doing.

I've been blitzing this way long enough to figure out the reason I can do this without going schizo: I am not using the web browser to read any older or newer Newpages. That's a firm rule. All the pastpages and futurepages (any OTT apart from the Newpage I'm currently Blitzing) is plain ASCII (well actually RHTF) which I search like in the screenshot in section 0 above. I have to manually copy URLs like this gif smiley into a browser to see what they are without exposing myself to the OTT itself. It would be torture to Blitz that way but I just do this to do research (like the mayo question) and finding my name so I can answer things.

It's kind of like listening to the news on the radio, then reading a chapter of a book, then back to the radio. I can keep them apart quite easily because they're in different media.

So I'm blitzing, but instead of just blindposting my signposts/status reports I am also blindposting replies to people who mentioned me in their recent posts. Mayo-NOW-se is keeping a tab open to the present, my thing is like mayo without the oil OR eggs OR lemon juice. Hmmm, maybe it's just salt. Blitzing with a pinch of salt?

Oh, and... Image The kitty was safe, I had Nopixbots holding a safety net to catch him. Image Image Image My Nopixbots are the very latest from Sirius Cybenetics, and their fundamental design flaws are completely hidden by their superficial design flaws. They rarely ever do anything nasty to redundakitties (except that one time...) Image Uhh, nothing to see here, move along! Image

Valarya wrote:I believe I've said this several times.. but you are so well-spoken and creative in all your time-capsule past present posts that I don't know what we'd do without them. They're the chirping sparkly new addition to this needle pulled thing and help make it what it is now, post T** E**. So thank you. And please keep going.

I definitely will keep going, and your acknowledgements from the very first have been taken to heart, bouncing otters Image to warm molpies Image and all! I am honored. And in case you don't remember, you inspired the Cthluhu-Madness theme Image in TWITT6R Image Image Image (oops, I think the kitties got frightened again...) and it was your reply that got me to decide to invent @Timborme, without whom my blitz would be nowhere near as fun...

The mood of this latest post has a similar 'feeling' to Marvin the Martian from, of course, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I say that in a complimenting manner because the apathetic tone made your RetrOTTification that much funnier. ;)

Well, that's a good thing, then. Image (That's Marvin ... you know, someone could mashup this with xkcd 23 using Marvin quotes from here... but it's not OTTRELATED enough.)

But oddly, though I wasn't thinking of it, I've channelled Marvin in the past; back when I was a college junior the Macintosh was brand-new; in my final newsletter for the term I personified the talking Mac as an insecure Marvin because Macintalk sounded pretty much the same. Everyone loved it.

So I knew this was a bit of a downer, even after I toned it down a bit (a downer toned down, I guess that means I toned it up?). You should have heard what I dictated into my phone voicememos in the car two dix earlier. I was picking up my mother from hospital, definitely coma-deprived (a lot scarier than it sounds) and "in a mood" (more a Image mood than a Image mood, if you're keeping track at home) when I saw how quickly my post (like all the other gems we create) gets buried back in the obscurity of P-NNP (N Newpages behind the Present, for N larger than this). These moments of coma-deprived self-doubt are part of the artistic experience and it is good to acknowledge them. When I look back at my work (maybe a wip or two later) I'll usually look at some bit of it and "Hey, that really is good, how the ch*rp did I think of that?" Then I know it was worth it. I'm creating this stuff to add to the collection of OTTish stuff that we can all enjoy in the future.

Ahh, that would explain it. We do have a Cookie Room, not far off one of the main corridors. So I bet I'll find him there. Yeh, prolly shouda locked that door... Ah, well.

I'm glad you found Acts of the Clerics in its own time - that was a close one. Imagine the chaos that might have occurred if the Page Popes had been forcibly fixed in Time? We really dodged a bullet on that one, and once again, all is as it should be. You can't be too careful!

Oh yes, the Campaign for Real Time. Kudos in absentia to @Timborme for the clever idea of splittng up, and that whole "hey, let's walk with BlitzGirl for a while" ruse. They were ch*rping mad when they reached the Conspiracy of Newpage 394, and Time-warped quite precipitously. We have something special planned for them. (We may need to enlist some of those relativistic Molpies from BlitzGirl, though we seem to have amassed quite a few ourselves...)

Love your otty2! I am a bit puzzled about the "does it fit in an established category?" decision diamond. Shouldn't "yes" be "no"? Or is this another quantum effect?
   ...
2Not a footnote, but the power of two. It's an otty of an otty. But you otty know that!

Well I am after all, a Retro-Paradoxical Past Chief of Grains (Grand Lodge FAAS of Newpixia), the secret duties of which include that I am honor-bound to create and uphold paradoxes (which of course means that I must oppose and resolve them).
But actually, I'm poking fun at myself: I keep inventing or making up new categories for my OTTifications: retrOTTification for something that is spoiler-free for Blitzers in the distant past; the confusion (discussed here) over what to do with some of my OTT-if images, my OTTification of the XKCD website, and what I believe is the first redundakitty OTT song. So the choices are "Yes", and "Yes, but I'm lazy todix" because I really don't have to invent these new labels, but I do anyway. That's the joke.

akta den vitssågen!

T. The Travelogue of Mrob27, Newpages 479 - 501

Timborme and I found the origin of mustard (if you're wondering, "ketchup" was 80NP sooner) and there was much discussion about what this new substance might be, before the OTA in his Timely wisdom fixed it. The mustard was declared heretical:
Aha! Begone, heretical Mustard!
And we've also added the beloved dilgunnerang to our, uh..., arsenal.

Sir Tristram, the Simple has sworn to defend the cats, and @ChronosDragon launched a brief inquisition into unfavorable spooftrolling on the Economist blog. Blitz-reports by @PhoenixRising, @Vytron, @VoronX, @RobIrr, and ketchups by @Caswallon and @azule remind us of the aforewhen and occasionally provide data points for my ongoing study of Papal Tectonics. Though the milk carton worked, we realize it may need to go recursive if zombie Helper vanishes again. We're getting more filks, all wonderful. Also a brief -- --- .-. ... . / -.-. --- -.. . episode, quickly ended.

Our One True Thread culture continues to grow and transform. The avatarization of BlitzGirl's Boom-de-Yada is a prominent sign of this, and then there's this:
This thread has really developed an odd combination of childish whimsy and decidedly PG-13 allusions. I like it.
We might not want to try too hard to understand it.

And, or particular significance to me, our inquisitive and stumbling (respectively) heroes Megan and Cueball arrived at the scene that first got me wondering, "What did the OTT think was going on here? I wish I could read all 19683 posts and find out...", prompting me to create my index. As yet, no OTTer knows...

Since y'all liked my last, *ahem* "Club Tuppence" ottification...

Use Our Castle As A Raft
Ottification of an even more vulgar and NSFW song. :P (Though my version removes all rudeness and most of the humour, sadly…)

Spoiler:
We wanted to save our tribe from the rising sea
We tried to tell Rosetta, she said it'll never be
Until we met this one girl, name of LaPetite
She said "Cuegan, I'll help you, but one thing you must agree:

I want to utilise your castle as something that can float
And turn your neat scaffold into a sort of boat
Then we'll all pile inside, upriver we will head"
We mulled it over carefully, and this is what we said:

Go on then, just for laughs!
Use our castle as a raft!
As a raft, as a raft,
Use our castle as a raft!
Go on then, just for laughs!
Use our castle as a raft!
As a raft, as a raft,
Use our castle as a raft!

We gathered all the forty, and got them on the raft
We started sailing forward, into the river fast
We started feeling seasick, and queasy and distraught
We realised this journey would be rougher than we thought.

But we persevered, it was all we could do
To save our dear old tribe from being in deep doodoo
And then we met the other half of our dearest crew
On a raft of their own, but they said: "It just won't do,
We need to use your raft ourselves if we're to get safe too…"

Go on then, just for laughs!
Use our castle as a raft!
As a raft, as a raft,
Use our castle as a raft!
Go on then, just for laughs!
Use our castle as a raft!
As a raft, as a raft,
Use our castle as a raft!

Come on, come and sail me
T'wards the land of the beanies
But watch out for the currents
Or you might end up deep in the rising sea...

Go on then, just for laughs!
Use our castle as a raft!
As a raft, as a raft,
Use our castle as a raft!
Go on then, just for laughs!
Use our castle as a raft!
As a raft, as a raft,
Use our castle, use our castle.

As a raft.

Oh, and when I use the Sand Purifier, the notification I get is: AND PURIFIER UPDATED.

Oh yeah, that was it. I just remembered the "and" part. :) Glass Block storage is positive again!

Question about the Glass Blower: If I'm making 7 blocks per NP, is it still using only 20 chips? Or does it use more? My glass chips are dwindling and I'm wondering where they are going. (I'm making 33 per NP, so I was thinking I would get a surplus if only 20 are used.)

Update!

Code: Select all

### 1.51
- twerked some sentence generation, added some stuff, fixed some mustard
- Adjusted blitzing stack effects (there was some mustard in the code, also I wanted to make it double BF/NL at minimum)
- Notification when ASHF and Temporal Rift are about to expire
- You have a chance of slipping into the Rift accidentally as you dig (when it's active but not immediately)
- Sand Purifier fixes

Um, it's trying to use 140 chips, sorry if that's not clear. I'll look into fixing that in the next version.

Hey ED, consider making a dedicated readout and purchase panel for glass chips? It's annoying to have to open the boosts to manage them.

You have a good point there.
A more general alternative (so I don't need a new specifically made panel each time I add stuff) would be a view which just shows boosts (no shop or newpix) and has them stay expanded. And choices for sorting, and maybe searching (eventually). How does that sound?

Lovely, yet endish, Jose!

I'm leaving tomorrip on a short trip through the wipend, not sure how much internet Time I will have.
I must admit, I'm worried that the ketchup when I get back will be riverish, based on recent posting rates. :(

Aha, suspected that might be the case. Right now the Glass Blower description says "Uses 1% of Sand dug to produce 7 Glass Blocks from 20 Glass Chips per NP."

Also, the new boost is being kind of naughty in my pants. :D
Yeah there should really be an 'each' in there.
ChronosDragon wrote:Hey ED, consider making a dedicated readout and purchase panel for glass chips? It's annoying to have to open the boosts to manage them.
You have a good point there.
A more general alternative (so I don't need a new specifically made panel each time I add stuff) would be a view which just shows boosts (no shop or newpix) and has them stay expanded. And choices for sorting, and maybe searching (eventually). How does that sound?

Well, IMO there should be dedicated panels for all core features of the game - which, depending on where you go with Glass Chips, could include that subsystem. I think it's a bit inelegant to tack them on as boosts, a system which has a somewhat different purpose.
