Papal Decree: Celebrate like it's 999.
Spoiler:
For anyone who cares to read this: thanks. My next post is 1000. Yes it is cool, and it is worthy. But it is not pure. When I hit post 1071 that will be my actual 1000th post in the OTT. That is the post I'd like to celebrate.

Y'all don't have to remember this. I get 72 more posts to figure a present out (read: procrastinate). Eh, super secret papal decree (lower case, even): any suggestions for what you'd like to see? Could be anything, from OTTercomic to song recording to video to a mix of things I've done.

If you read this sig, post about one arbitrary thing you did today.

I celebrate up to six arbitrary things before breakfast.

Accoring to Wikipedia:
on April 2nd 999 AD – Gerbert of Aurillac becomes Pope Silvester II and succeeds Pope Gregory V as the 139th pope.

According to the OTT:
on November 18th azule of The land of the Golden Puppies and Rainbows becomes Pope as the 1620th pope of the OTT.

I wish it were 999.

Right now, I'm closer to 99.

If anyone has access to a time machine, please send modern weaponry. Picts are attacking, and the garrison is in danger of being overrun. There is a good chance that Scotland will have to be abandoned. I can't help but think a well placed flamethrower would turn the tide.

Still no idea why I am here, even though it has been the better par of two weeks.

P.S. why is the OTT moving so slow? I have never seen it move at less than a post a day before.

Part 5 of the Last Five Newpix
A Part of That(based on I'm a part of that, from the Last Five Years)
Orignal
Spoiler:
One pix we're just like “Babies and Cancer”
One pix it's just a typical strip
And then we're off on
A trip to Randall-land
Staring catatonic at the window
Barely even breathing all the while

And then it moves
our eyes light up and Javascript updates
Without a sound
A moment comes to life
And I'm a part of that
I'm a part of that
I'm a part of that

Next pix it's just like
a pixel darkened
We're making religions
We're making plans
Then they get on the
Mule train to Randall-land
Handful after handful of Bacon
Circling the OTT, logging posts

And then it moves
our eyes light up
And why would we complain?
Yes, we’re insane
But look what we can do
And I'm a part of that
I'm a part of that
I'm a part of that

And it's true
We tend to follow Cuegan’s stride
as they walk side by side
we take seek the clue
True, but there's no question
There's no doubt
I said I'd stick it out
And follow through
And when I do

And then it moves
And where else can I go?
I didn't know
The rules do not apply
And then it moves
And nothing else makes sense
While we invent
A world that's passing by
And I'm a part of that
I'm a part of that
I'm a part of that
Aren't I?

I'm a part of that
I'm a part of that
I'm a part of that

Sandcastle Sanity Warning

Postby waveney » Mon Nov 18, 2013 7:36 pm UTC

In the current version is a new boost "Locksmith", it is seriously broken. For your sanity do not get it, I had to patch the program to shut it up once bought. It needs nerfing and not to generate 20+ notificatons per mnp.

It's probably a new, or rather a composite, scene.

## 3.04
- Prevent Locksmith from awarding ASHF when you already have it
- Overcompensating's buff wasn't applied to saves which already had Overcompensating owned
- Fix panther rush on-buy crash (fortunately it was in calculating the levels so it didn't waste any levels)
- Nerfed Locksmith a bit (even though it wasn't any more powerful than AA was previously if you knew how to leverage it...)
- Crate key message improved and not shown if from locksmith
- Boost unlock/lock/describe messages supressed from locksmith/zookeeper: just 1 message to show that one/both activated
- Disabled Expando because it's causing problems and I don't have time to fix it properly right now, sorry
- Glass Saw is a toggle now
- Molpy Down refreshes the Options

dip, I believe, was "Day In Pixels," same for week, month, etc. As for why, well, probably the "teehee" associated. Not that this forums is afraid of crude jokes now and then.

The Time Less Traveled

Two Times diverged in a forum thread:
The Now, and newpages long since made.
But which to wander? In my head
Current posting, the past unread,
Meant I would not be long delayed.

But lack context? I wouldn't dare -
So back into the past I went.
The One True Comic waited there
With newpix left by users fair
And discussions of religious bent.

Both Times that day appeared as just.
I chose the posts that had amassed.
And in Time, I knew I surely must
Re-glimpse the Now that was discussed,
Although by then it would be Past.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere newpix and newpix hence:
Two Times diverged in a thread and I —
I chose the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

There is a wiki, with a whole page about such things!

The wiki and this thread provide a place to join in clubby, posturing granfalloonery. I'm looking for a forum where people are discussing the comic.

Has anybody found one?

I have traveled from the past to warn of the foolhardiness of your quest. Remember, THIS thread started out as a place for people to discuss the comic "Time," and it has since spawned religions, sects, an order of knights, and a new language. Start another thread and who know what could happen? The entire world order could be overthrown, religious wars could be started, the planets could slip out of alignment. More than likely, though, it would slip into more granfoolery.<snip>

On Page 311, I have found my first Time Capsule! And it contains the magnificent word "granfoolery". This word brings to mind the concept of misbehaving old people, playing pranks on the younger generation who are blissfully unaware that "dear old grandma" is the cheekiest person present, hiding behind a façade of "I'm too old for such granfoolery"!

I see S's Gingercat is making progress. Glad xe found my signpost. I remember that post well. I expected people in the thread to be annoyed by being called clubby, posturing granfalloons, but instead everyone just commented on what a great word that was. That was when I knew the thread was something special.

I only just now noticed that the post I was quoting contained the word "granfalloonery," which I inadvertently shortened to granfoolery. And left out a word. FTFM.

You probably wouldn't recognize me, as I look like any other Roman Soldier here, except when viewed through the imaging room OTT. I do not beleive I shall slip much further into the past. Unles my initial theories were incorrect, I can only travel within my own lifespan. at this period in time, I was quite young, and just setting out on my own.

The good news is that Emporer Hadrian is supposed to arrive within the monmth. If I remember events correctly, his assasination in Brittania leads directly to the first Roman genocide, and the eradication of the pictish tribes through fire and the sword. Until that point, the troubles of the empire were such that only a small portion of the empires might was focused on the outlying lands, but after his assasination, it was decided that it would be better to concedntrate forces and wipe them out forever as an example to all other nations of what happens when you assassinate an Emperor. This led to the germanic tribes uniting, and the first truly unified force to face Rome in Centuries. the bloodshed was unimaginable, and set back Human Civilization nearly 1000 years.

I beleive this event may be what I am here to solve. There was much discussion of what to name the Outside time period of 24 newpix on NP554. Latent22 suggested newDay and mscha lobbied for icositetranewpix, but azule came up with xip and its derivatives wip, mip, and yip.

Time is ever in flux - though we interact through this thread, we each inhabit our own dimensions and Timestreams. What you change may ripple out to nearby points on your causality mesh, and perhaps even shift points further away, but what we know as the past is fixed in our memories, regardless of the geometry of our current mesh of residence.

That being said, if you'd like some help with that, I can probably pinpoint your coordinates to within an error bar of a couple months - using months as a measure of linear, "planar", and "spatial" distance in the temporal mesh. Given your reputation at that Time, though, I'm not sure how they'd respond to another dragon appearing out of thin air.

Probably better not to. I seem to be being sent to particularly volatile points in space and time. The death of disco, the beginning of nboekend's passing out of safewty hats, the assasination of Emporer Hadrian. The introduction of yet more unstable element could have deletarious effects.

Also, too much chronal energy in one place might have the effect of causing a rupture in the 8th dimension, with disastrous results. Total protonic reversal. Unless we have to fight a God, I don't see it as a viable risk.

Yeah, I remembered some sort of partial ID, but I did mean the scene. Are all the parts accounted for? I may find the scene(s) in my quest to build usable panoramas for my viewer, but there's so many scenes I'm not gonna search for it just to find it.

That would be me. It was originally xip, actually. It became dix when people wanted it to resemble "day" more closely. Mip and yip, et al, were to resemble xip (and to mirror their usage (ie month, year)) but then dip became part of the group so that the set was complete. It was rather organic, I suppose.

FTFY. Although now it looks like "googler."
As it should. Plus, you're right, ellem, I hadn't even notice that. Partly because the comic is also about tau (whatever that is).

It was originally dix, which was reversed to xip to avoid the "teehee" factip, and then changed to "dip" for reasons of parallel with "day" and ease of pronunciation. (I still prefer "xip" myself.)

dip also happens to be halfway between xip and dix. So it's like 1.5pi.

- Beachball
- Exponential boosts now say "boosts by x% cumulatively per thing" to distinguish them from linear increases

Not that it matters, but from my search it appears xip was first posted on May 7, dix on May 12, in one of ucim's Papal Stories. Unless I somehow missed an earlier occurance of dix. But anyways, no, I didn't base xip off of dix. I did base my faux proposals wix and mix, et al., off of it though. :)

Since I am Dutch "wip" gives me a chucle. It is one of the ways to say to "chirp."

As for the Beanies: an avalanche from the right will kill both Beanies dead. Thus ends this thread of the Beanies.
