What is the large black object? It looks like a bear.

Edit:

Pope! I resurrect an old decree:
Bring a bear!

By the way, BlitzGirl, that pope smiley is missing from the NP1300 smiley repository.

What's interesting is that I, you and BlitzGirl are the OTTers who posted from the mirror. Now If I were an evil version of myself that doesn't delete the passwords, I'd be able to verify it. But, luckily, lmjb1964 convinced me not to become evil:

I feel like the Outside has swallowed me whole. No matter what, I can't get past the piles of things I need to do. I miss you all terribly. I will return, I promise!

I did read a book, which is unusual for me. I used to read voraciously, but now I never have time. But in cleaning out a storage at work, I found a book called Meg, not unRELATED to Friday's comic. In it, a formerly cute and lovely movie star is transformed by plastic surgery gone wrong and turned into a monster. No wait, that's Meg Ryan. Meg is about a prehistoric shark who rises from the Marianas Trench to wreak havoc. I didn't expect to get hooked, but it reeled me in. The main character has a theory that megalodons still exist, but everyone thinks he's crazy and carps at him for his theories. His wife is beautiful but a hag, fishing for her meal ticket and trying to net awards for herself. And there's something fishy between the wife and her husband's best chum. There's a reporter who's slippery as an eel, and a few hard-nosed, hammer-headed Army guys. Eventually the hero schools everyone on what happening, but on the way the waters get pretty murky.

Spoiler:
My main problem with the book? There were basically two women characters, the aforementioned wife and the other love interest who is breathtakingly beautiful and can fly planes and pilot submersibles, but her father won't let her because she's "too emotional." Basically, it was one of those books where they say, "Look, we're not sexist! We know women can do stuff! Now get out of the way and let the men do the work!" Sheesh.

I read another book too. It was the autobiography of a guy who grew up on the poor side of Detroit, but eventually became a brilliant neurosturgeon.

I'll saw myself out. Image
But first, a bear for the pope:
Image
Aww, I just looked at my phone and I have a text from BlueCrab! She must have sensed my posting-vibes. That made my day. :D

Mostly redundant:

True: polar bears are unlikely to make a pun, so her normal defense is useless.
But this is BlitzGirl we are talking about. She can handle a few cuddly wuddly killer polar bears in attack formation.
Haven't seen her this side of the veil, so that also gives hope.

If you're a little awkward at conversation - as a very new speaker would be - this is a plausible opener. Kind of like saying "So, ...".

Up to page 528 out of 2007, or 26.3% of the way through. Only a scant 1479 pages to go!

In the comic M-gan and Q-ball are walking along the river they found, away from the sea, looking for a ford (or chevy) they can use to make their trip easier. In the thread, people are carping about camera-angles and weekends and ketchuping and mini-blitzing all over the place, and Vytron even sign-posted twice on one page.

Vytron wrote:Page 345 / 528 - 183 pages behind...

I'm with BlitzGirl here! Who cares about all those Youtube Videos and interesting pages people post now and then? What only matters is the One True Comic and the One True Thread. You read them, and you've read it all. (And then you can read related material, like the One Wiki, the Book of Time, etc.)

It takes awhile to read it all. But I agree that all quotes and links are optional reading. Since quotes are quoting things I've already read, it's a waste of effort to read them again usually. And if a reply to a giant quote stack doesn't make any sense out of context, well, nonsense and madness are just par for the thread anyway. And I don't even remember what Exodies actually meant by "reading it properly" anymore.

It might explain the massive drop in population, but how could there ever be another Zanclean flood after that?
