Time After Time – t1i

Postby SilentTimer » Fri Jul 11, 2014 5:11 pm UTC

Image everymolpy, everyraptor, everybot, and everyone else! Image

This was t1i, my Time After Time story.
Thank you for watching, analysing, and waiting for it, Image
and many thanks for your encouraging feedback!
It seems you enjoyed it. That's what I intended when I created it.

After Time **ded, I felt a big void. After months of waiting for it, watching the story unfolding pixel by pixel, analysing and understanding it detail by detail, T** **d of Time came too sudden for me. Time is one of the greatest pieces of art I have ever seen, but its **d did not fully satisfy me.

After a period of waiting, I felt that it needed a sequel, so I made one.

Thousand 1414 thanks to mscha Image and newpixbot Image for providing the infrastructure which made this possible, and infinite thanks to The One Image in my life who did not only encourage me to do it, but even improved the story and helped me to keep up with the high level of scientific accuracy set by the GLR.

I (SilentTimer) wrote:Actually I am planning a Making Of t1i for the Time it has recursed or looped or *nded.
That'll be one of my next projects. Prepare to wait for it.

I (SilentTimer) wrote:Up to now, I somehow managed to keep up drawing the frames while they are being ONGed every four newpix, but I see the point approaching where this won't be possible.

I'm going to keep drawing, but when it happens that I am slower than the ONG, please don't panic. Just follow the First Commandment.
Hey, it did not happen. :)

ucim wrote:Actually, Time After Time was the sequel to the sequel of Time, since waveney had a steakish sequel too.
Yes and no. Yes, Latent22, Waveney, azule and others made steakish and inspiring sequels to Time, too. However t1i is not a sequel to the Beanie story, but it lives in a timeline of its own.

Optional decree:
There are hidden messages in t1i.
Find them, or speculate about them.

Have fun,

"Tiaw" means "joke" in Cebuano.

This reminds me of something... Ah! The salty desert of The Forty has become Land Under Wave, which in Gaelic would be Tir-fa-Tonn, or in Nac Mac Feegle-speak Tir-far-Thionn, which is the meaning of the name Tiffany in Wee Free Men.

There should be some diacritics there, somewhere. Source: http://www.lspace.org/books/apf/the-wee-free-men.html

This proves that something is related to, eh, something. (Where is StratPlayer when you need him?)

It is, but it can't do the front lawn, because it runs off and does the neighbor's yard instead. And depending on how much sky-water we get, sometimes the grass gets taller than it can handle.

That made me burst out laughing, imaging your neighbor standing confused as a robot lawnmower suddenly scurries in and mows their lawn.

The explanation is hidden in t1i itself.
Spoiler:
When I hid it, I speculated how long it would take the OTTers to find it. My guess was: between 10 millinewpix and 1 newpix. Meanwhile it appeared again in a different form, but has not been revealed yet.

OTOH the blue in the cave was detected much sooner than I had expected. The OTT is amazing. :)

Same to you! I was trying to figure out what the correct term would be, since millenia is 1000 yips. Through extensive research (typed "English to Latin in Google and picked a random site),I learned that pagina is Latin for page, so I'm thinking millipagina. Or maybe millipaginia. Anyway, welcome back!

And as baltharight predicted, the multiquote script is what is breaking my quoting ability. If mrob or someone has some ideas about how to fix it, that would be awesomeful. I'm on Chrome 35.0.1916.153 on Mac OS 10.6.8, in the western hemisphere in July. My older Mac at home, which has Mac OS 10.5.something, does not seem to have a problem with it.

ETA I probably won't be present in the present any time soon, so a PM would be most helpful. :)

Molpy-spotting in the SilentONGs: I can't remember if the blinking snake was ever identified in the thread. If not, I think I got it now: it was not a true snake but a legless lizard, Anguis fragilis or slow-worm.

Wikipedia says:
Although these lizards are often mistaken for snakes, a number of features differentiate them from snakes. The most important one is that they have small eyes with eyelids that blink like lizards'; this feature is not found in snakes.

But I expect I have been ninja'd on this by some months. (Should write mips, but who knows what that means in Dutch.) Well then, what about all the birdies? And the tree snake? I don't think slow-worms climb trees.

Edit to add: I was kind of ninja'd more than a yip ago by Corinne:
Corinne wrote:So I could be a female Adder, venomous but not harmful to humans. Damn. I may be a slow worm but slow worms are not snakes but lizards, and they are tiny anyway. I could be some other varieties as well, for I do not know that much about snakes even though I am one. Hisssssssssssssssssssss.

第三十章

(chapter 29)

Morobu's sleep is interrupted abruptly by a shaking of the earth. It is not 地震, but something is uprooting the beautiful camphor tree. Morobu gets up and backs away. A giant claw — Morobu's eyes follow up to the body of the beast — purple and green, with spots like a keyboard's, and a hard shell: a takaashigani more than a hundred meters tall.
Its slow booming voice makes nearby bamboo quiver. "I shall avenge the dragon, once I have had breakfast. This broccoli looks good."
Morobu objects. "That is not broccoli, it was a beautiful camphor tree, and I was sleeping under it!"
The takaashigani waves one of its long antennae towards Morobu. "How did you grow this? It is delicious."
Morobu is puzzled. The monster has not even begun to eat the camphor tree. Perhaps it can taste through its shell?
"Yes," comes the reply to the un-asked question. "Fujisystems autosensing claws. They taste, hear, measure pressure, and detect currents both aquatic and electric! But where is more broccoli?"
Without thinking, Morobu waves back over his shoulder. "Away off to your left. You'll find a gray beach beyond rice-fields. You—" but before he finishes this, he sees the earth curling up. He is at the bottom of a huge bowl, and he can see the very rice-paddies he was just mentioning, and further up the slope of the bowl, the gray beach of BlueCrab where he found imagebot, and Suruga Bay above that. The edge of the bowl ripples with each roar of MORE BROCCOLI from the monster, who has now begun to levitate, starfish-like.
Now turning around, he sees the other rice-fields ahead of him. I see the mountain-pond! I bet I can find ucim's Temple of Cuelessness! Oh, and I can look for the Dojo! But is it permitted for pilgrims to gaze up at the Bowl of the Earth?

The discussion of suitable pronouns for gender-identity of OTTers is interesting, but I'm a little more interested in stress patterns. How many syllables are there in "@adnapemit" and which ones get the primary and secondary accent? Inquiring poetrybots want to know. (Yes, I know it's "timepanda" backwards, but that doesn't answer this question :P )
Also, since a direct answer has been given, I'll just point out that a subtle answer was given too: See OTT:1637:25 and note the change that was made when quoted at OTT:1638:6.

I only just got around to figuring this out, and wow, that's epsilon. It's a website that lets you tune into various radio frequencies (shortwave, amateur and commercial), many of which seem like normal radio stations, and some of which are probably spies or space aliens or something. Apparently yours is called "Russian station UVB-76 (The Buzzer)".

@lmjb1964: At OTT:1954:33 you said "I kept hitting the 'Quote' button at work, and nothing would happen." I assume you're running the Multi-Quote script. When I hit the quote button, a text-entry area appears below the signature of the person I'm quoting, containing the contents of their post in BBcode, and editable with a "Save" button.
There are lots of reasons it might not work for you, from firewalls to browser security features or other extensions or conflicting userscripts. If you knew how to use the JavaScript debugging window, and if there were a way to set breakpoints in the GreaseMonkey script, then you could step through it.

PUSH BUTAN, RECEIVE FIRSTPOST

Postby lmjb1964 » Fri Jul 11, 2014 9:42 pm UTC

Forgot to mention that I liked BlitzGirl's 2000 pic and ergman's falling avatars pic and EOM's fireworks and data-crunching and someone's flashy party gif and the space odyssey otty.

Also, yay, I'm in mrob27's story. <3

??? Did I miss something? We have racist raptors now?

And mrob, I was wondering how mscha ended up with my web-footed raptors, but I see that you've answered that. It's fine, I have plenty to spare, but I wouldn't have minded being in the story along with my duckplies...

Um, "dot dot dot"? or "molpy"? Will you please finish that? :|

To fit the limerick, that is probably pronounced "dot dot dot." It was written for the millennimome decree, which was "..." in fact.

Yes, thanks, BlitzGirl! (Oh, and I forgot to mention - loved your 2000 pic!)
The limerick was a bit lame I admit. It was supposed to be a play on that you can't tell if something is spotty if all you have is an outline, hence ... as trailing off because of lack of information, but which is then pronounced "dot dot dot" to complete the limerick form and honour the decree. Of course, if you have to explain it, it ain't funny, and I'm afraid I knew it wasn't very good when I hit submit. What I wanted to do, was something like this short silly poem, which is one of my favourites:
Little Mary donned her skates
upon the ice to frisk.
Wasn't she a silly girl
her little * ?

Well, I liked your limerick, so there. And that other poem--it took me a minute. :D

And yay, a new blitzer! Randallspeed to you, kalira!

Well, the raptor in that particular ONG was shouting "CHINK CHINK CHINK CHINK"; that sounds pretty racist to me.

That bird is also the Doop-raptor. It was remarkably vocal, made all sorts of noises. Let's see...

1299: TWEEDLE-DEE-DEE-DOOP
1303: TSEE-DEE-CHIRP?
1307: DOOP-DIP-DIP-TWEEDLE-DEE
1311: TWEEDLE-WEE-DEE!
1315: TSEE-DEE-CHIRP?
1319: TWEEDLE-DEE-DEE-DOOP
1323: TWEEDLE-WEE-DEE!
1327: DOOP-DIP-DIP-TWEEDLE-DEE
1331: CHOOK!
1334: CHINK CHINK CHINK CHINK

My initial guess for the species was an Old World oracle... but maybe it's just speaking in raptory code.

"VULGAR DUTCH CONNOTATION FOR "WIP"" - I think that we had heard it's meaning in another language (probably this Dutch meaning). If I was searching, I'd find it for you. Ninja'd by the Dutchman. Good, I was right. Plus, SearchNinja'd by mrob27. Thanks.

ggh "What bugs me is the public health stance that tries to make like medicine has all the answers" - I think it's simple. Don't act like you know the answers. Spoilered for length and offtopicness:

If science tells you that something makes sense, that that thing is the best action to take, then that is good, but it's still not necessarily true. When they talk like their advice is science, or truth...that's a problem. When you challenge them, you find out it wasn't science at all, but opinion. To tell their patients that this is their best advice and that they may want/need to seek better advice, that's more honest. Like HES said, they're just people, and they don't know everything. I know that. But I'd just like more honesty with that supposed knowledge that came with their medical degree.
