Hmm, I suppose linking CueMegAll's smilies (or at least a lot of them) to the OTT attachments was an unmolpish idea since if I refresh my CueMegAll page, they'll go with the m*stard. Also the wiki smiley repository lacks a mustard smiley. Or custard.
I still haven't finished adding the existing smileys to CueMegAll, actually.

From the video I watch last nip, I found it interesting that GLR gets Yappocised too.

Hello from the Mirror-Universe, where the OTT is on the Outside and the Outside is the OTT.

Thank you balthareflector for enabling us to enjoy the OTT even in times of Zanclean Mustard. (Is this a new album of VHF?)

Good thinking, balthatheory!

We really need a better way to get smilies into CueMegAll that doesn't rely on the OTT being free of mustard. Hopefully something that doesn't use up my Time. I've kinda got at least three other projects to be working on (which is why I haven't added much to CueMegAll this wip. I have a lot of features I want to add but...).

Possibly the one from the alternate universe, since I may not have logged in on that occasion in the correct way for the mirror to transfer things to the OTT when it recovers (assuming that's what happens), and so my earlier post (or this one!) may disappear. At my suddenly increased rate of posting and if m*st*rd continues I may end up with my milestone post in the mirror!

***CCZZZSSHTT***

***Tap, Tap***

***MicrophoneLeopard feedback squeal***

Hello? Is it working? Hello? I think it's on.

*Ahem*. Blindpost, since my ketchup has been interrupted by mustard, and I don't have time to fully ketchup on the mirror instead.

So towards the end of last-week I was on a beach with some friends in the late evening. This beach is located at Weston-Super-Mare, which apparently has almost-Zanclean levels of tidal variations. Near where we were was a sandcastle competition, sadly behind a fence too high to look over and see it mostly, but there was a tip of a pretty baobabish, tall castle that could be seen peaking over it. The exhibition was closed by this point in the day and it was too dark for any photos to pick it, sadly. Instead I made a mini-sandcastle on the beach. I have a (rather poor) picture of it, together with the Weston pier in the background, but I'm not sure how to post an image on this mirror. I will try to remember once ketchup and mustard are both complete. You'll just have to...

Spoiler:
keep posting other stuff.
What were you expecting?

I'm watching the re-postings from the mirror coming in.
It feels like at OTC peak Time: If you reload after a few seconds, there are 3 new posts.

And if you try to post you see 3 posts in front of yours.

The most recent one (and this one) is correct.

(Maybe, if it is possible, it would be good to put a note with the warning message under the username/password fields (the one that says "The mirror can't verify your username or password), to say that you need to use your xkcd forum username and password if you want your posts to transfer to the OTT after the m*st*rd *nds. I couldn't check about what I was supposed to do when there is m*st*rd BECAUSE of the m*st*rd!)

I seem to have now been able to fully ketchup in spite of all this mustard (thanks s_rasahtlab), and in doing so I noticed that we seem to have attracted a few basements onto the mirror! Maybe the mustard somehow filled up the basement and pushed some of them out?

Molpy up here, and wait for it.

For my own decree: I could set up a phpBB forum and hack it such that members of the time travelling bot group get the possibility to explicitly set the date of a posting. In other words: They are allowed to post in the past. :)
Then, newpixbothasar_p and his friends could turn that “backup” phpBB forum into a copy of the OTT.
Then, if the original OTT does not return, one could declare one of the backups the new “master copy”, allow posting from there, and redirect bothasar_t to it.
This plan is not limited to a single “backup OTT”; there might be many. It will work as long as the ЯOЯЯIM TTO works.

Next project: How can it be generalised to allow for multiple ЯOЯЯIM TTOs?

Redundant:

It's not your fault - it's the forum's fault for not being accommodating of locomotives. Quite an obvious flaw in the design.

It seems to me that mustardpopes would be at the top of mustardpages, with regular pagepopes as per usual the top of newpages. Thus, two standardsni ni ni of popeage.
Since we can't see the usual newpages, we have to rely on mustardtimepopes for optional-decree leadership.

I'm afraid I can't help much with the first part of the decree, but I've done the second part. By the way, seeing <computery stuff> at the bottom of the ЯOЯЯIM TTO makes me squee. :D

In other news, apparently philosophers are not fond of puns either.

Time-Capsule from mrob27, deposited NP1667

Postby mrob27 » Wed Sep 17, 2014 6:48 pm UTC

Chronogram from the mrobDIS
Origin: Newpage 1667 (via nopixbot chronotransponder)
Destination: Newpage 2104

This is mrob27 again. "Morobu", that is to say the slightly-younger me, i.e. the one who hasn't looped back through Time yet, is still getting re-acclimated.

∰ The Blitzey-Stuff ∰

We sent our last Blitz report from NP1633, now we're at 1667. Here is some notable molpishness from those 34 pages:

@Eternal Density implemented customizable layouts in Sandcastle Builder, and there are a lot of other changes including a lot about dragons.

The MysteryONGs begin panning, and we see various raptors and molpies travelling from left to right. It doesn't take long to conclude that they are fleeing the rising water. The pan has reached the spot where the Forty are going to land, but the water hasn't arrived yet. During the pan, newpixbot's head is severed for a while, and @balthasar_s starts a project to auto-generate newpixbot images. In the meantime we have the fractal GIF version.

@january1may arrives and begins blitzing.

@ggh GIFs our avatars onto the wowterfall.

The mrob27 of the past releases my OTTification of "Somebody to Love", which I'm still not very happy with, but at least it doesn't sound worse.

xkcd store banners begin to appear and the OTTers (mainly BlitzGirl) catalogue them.

Back on NP1624 we had Beacon Foxtrot, which included some riddles and unknown messages from @AluisioASG. More posts followed, summarized here. It took a while and a lot of help, but @ggh seems to have figured it out by OTT:1664:39 and OTT:1665:27.

OtherComic 1305 (the one that describes online communities like this one) inspires several OTTers to come back and say hi. It is OTTified by ucim and BlitzGirl.

No Mrorl?

Yes, I actually do scan for Mrorl, but he hasn't been very popular lately. I do still have notes on future Stanisław Lem OTTifications, though...

BlitzGirl wrote: ... I'm not surprised the OTT is moving slower... we've fallen below 2 posts per nopix now. It takes about a dip to finish a newpage.
It is neat to see that we have a somewhat stable OTTer population at the moment.

Those are nice charts, @Earthling on Mars, but this one could benefit from having two different vertical scales, so that both plots can use the full height of the scale. The left edge shows the Unique Users scale, with 50 per line, and that's fine. I think the right edge should be labeled from 0 to 90 in increments of 10, for the Posts/Longpix scale. Then we'd be able to see the burst that happened at the Tymiversary.

balthanaut_m wrote: EEEETA: I can't connect to mrob.com

Yes, there was m*stard. I couldn't upload anything for a while. In my typical fashion, I Waited a few nopix, did my usual tests, determined it was really broken at the server, contacted tech support, and they fixed it. It went all m*stardy again later, and got fixed before I got around to doing the tests.
It is because of things like that that most of my stuff (like automeme, Q04B, Ch*rpy Raptor, the replay viewer, etc.) are designed to be mostly or completely autonomous, and keep working even if mrob.com or the entire internet becomes inaccessible for a while.
Your bots that use automeme would benefit from fetching 27 memes at a time and saving the results locally.

∰ What-If automemes ∰

automeme has a lot of templates based on questions in the what if book. I haven't finished, but there are a lot. To get most of these templates, right now you can use the filter option, entering a pattern like "COULD", "HOW.*WOULD", "IF.*WOULD", "WHAT.*IF", etc. Maybe I'll add categories sometime using predefined #hashtags. They're all long, so I think @Link and/or @azule might choose to add a way to filter by length.

P.S.: imagebot is now giggling, and saying something about servers and safewords. I wonder if she misses the beach? Maybe she needs to get out more. ... No, Wait... imagebot just explained it to me

P.P.S: Post delayed by unavailability of fora.xkcd.com.

I used isup.me to see if it was just me, and no, it seems others are unable to access it too.
Someone commented (on bookface) that they still obsessively check the OTT even when they know it's probably mired in the yellow stuff. I have audible alarms (spoken in robot-speech by imagebot) that tell me the server is back in service... and guess what? I still blithely check the OTT too...

@balthamirror: For the first time, I started using ЯOЯЯIM TTO ƎHT to Blitz. Its formatting is really nice, and my scripts (listed here, for example spoiler opener and no tinytext) work well on it.
I have a request: When a post contains a link to another post, for example this URL:

 forums.xkcd.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=101043&start=64080#p3495064

it would be nice if ЯOЯЯIM ƎHT could preserve that little "#p3495064" at the end, and convert it into this:

 1190.bicyclesonthemoon.dnsd.info/ott/view?np=1603#p3495064

rather than doing what it does right now, which is this:

 1190.bicyclesonthemoon.dnsd.info/ott/view?np=1603

Then I'd be able to follow the links and it would take me to the actual post. Nothing else needs to be changed: I can manually add the "#p3495064" to the end of the URL and it takes me to the post.

P.3S.: Now getting lots of balthamirrorbot posts in the ninja-preview. Image Rah, rah! cys-boom-bot! Seriously, ЯOЯЯIM TTO ƎHT is ch*rping brilliant.

(Edit: fix typos)
(Edit2: Remove '.dnsd' inside ЯOЯЯIM link target)

for everymolpy:

Redundant:
Spoiler:
I told U this project essentially is redundancy. Why U no believe me?

I don't know. Before this, we've never had enough Mustardtime for a MustardPope succession to get established.

I think I'll make the password visible instead of replacing it with dots. You'll see if you typed it correctly.
