Cuegan have mouths in it. Is that heretical? Do I get any chocolate?

I just watched The Wind Rises, Hayao Miyazaki's last film. Is that related? maybe. It was pretty good, lots of trains, planes, and cigarette smoke.

Thanks to PDN's median tool, for making anything look cooler.

edit: Popered! Image I love that I can find this smiley by googling "ergman for pope!"

Decree: you have options: Otcolor something yourself (I've made that decree in the past, but redundancy and such) OR tell me why The Wind Rises is RELATED

edit again: this frame has already been otcolored, beautifully, by Tatainia. Not sure why I don't search these things before hand.

Notes:
For those who didn't click the link, the original is 내가 제일 잘 나가 by 2NE1. Yes, that's Korean. I don't know any Korean, which made OTTifiying this kinda difficult.
Not sure when I'll get a chance to actually perform this. It might be tricky to do in one take with one performer since there's not any space to breath between some of the stanzas.
Also, IT'S HALF OF NINE THOUSAND!
[Edit] Fixed missing second stanza which was cut instead of pasted.

I had a dream tonight that I got a message from SilentTimer and xe had some suggestions how to change drawing the characters in bftf. I could not follow the suggestions because that would completely change my drawing style.
Then I woke up, It was still dark. I looked at the clock and saw it change from 4:32 to 4:33. Wow, related time! Then I went to sleep again and in it there were people asking me why I don't follow silentTimer's advice.

Now I wonder, did I really wake up at 4:33 or was it part of the dream too.

Maybe that was me. Sometimes I cannot resist to display a silent “ong” at that Time. There's no way to hear that, but maybe you can sense it by some other means, in particular while you're dreaming …

Treeish! :) (FTFY.)

But I don't think you FTFM (fixed that for me), you sort of BTFM (broke that for me)
You see, @SilentTimer alreay has a perfectly functional Silent Timer, the physical device that @balthasar_s constructed, and it is scaled appropriately to @SilentTimer (assuming that @SilentTimer is of roughly human adult size).
The tiny clock I made is intended for use by SilentBot, who is a little bot that @balthasar_s made out of a single digit 7-segment LED display module and some resistors etc., and which you saw in person. Since SilentBot is much smaller than @SilentTimer, it needs a smaller version of the clock.
Here's one for SilentBot: / Image / look real close, it's animated!

That's really treeish! (Though again, I would have said "here's a GIF smiley OF SilentBot", or maybe "Here's a smaller SilentBot so that SilentBot can have its own SilentBot" ...) But let's not be picky. More bots is always a good thing!

Ah, now I understand!
@mrob27 and @Sustainabilizer: Thank you! Image

Code: Select all

See? It _is_ for me! :)
But you may use it, too.
Image Thanks, SilentBot. But doesn't that mean that the SilentBot smiley is for me? Its relative size matches my own one. But of course you may use it, too, too, SilentBot.

Code: Select all

Thanks, SilentTimer.
And many thanks, mrob27 and Sustainabilizer!
But what about our SilentTimer smiley?
Doesn't it need a matching SilentBot smiley of the correct relative size?
Image And the SilentBot smiley needs another SilentTimer clock.
And so does the SilentBot smiley smiley.

Code: Select all

So we end up with an infinite series of smileys.
But the area they are covering is finite. It converges.
Image
Yeah.

In other failures, I'm afraid I'm going to give up on the puzzle. I got 50% of it finished in a little over 2.5 hours, but it's apparent that I've picked all the low-hanging fruit, and that I'll never finish. I blame my aging eyes. I can't even tell whether pieces with people in them are right-side-up. Where's zoom when you need it?

If you might have to look soon, I recommend actually looking now. I'm still being amazed by how much better my current WFFS is than my last one. Also heard that there were more cutbacks there, so I'm extra happy to not be there anymore. Now if we can just align the raptors for eliminating our redundant castle.

@ggh, I had to give up on it too. Partly because I had other puzzles to do, namely tax returns.

Clearly it was the hat-sharpening effect ("enHATSment"? :P) that got switched off. One's perception of the ONG is a function of the number of hats. And that is one truly molpish pile of hats.

SilentTimer wrote: ... Image Thanks, SilentBot. But doesn't that mean that the SilentBot smiley is for me? ...

Yes, you saw where I was going with this. Recursive bots and clocks and smileys were exactly what I had in mind :D
I envisioned something like this: Image where the @SilentTimer action figure (i.e. hatted clock) has SilentBot sitting on top of it, and it slowly zooms in on the latter, who turns out to be holding a smaller @SilentTimer, which has a tinier SilentBot sitting on it, and so on... The whole GIF animation would of course repeat, with a period of about 4:33 plus the little bit for the ONG. And maybe someday I'll make it, but it is a programming (i.e. bot-building) project, of course. And quality botcraft takes Time.

ggh wrote:y'know, it wasn't until today that I caught the SilentBot smiley animating. Very cute. :) I guess I just wasn't waiting for it hard enough before.

Yep, see the caption right under SilentBot in the original post

I too am a bit worried about the quiet here. It feels like I killed the thread. ...

Oddly, I too feel that way, like when I made my prior post only to be followed by ENAP, or the post before that which began a BOIBAH (Bots-Only Interval Between Actual Humans) of over 13 np. There's clearly a positive feedback loop, wherein watching the thread amplifies the Waiting.

Wow, neat song ED! I can't listen to the original right now because we're watching Shrek, but I'm finding it groovy accompanied by the dragon-chase part of the score.
Aww thanks :D
BTW guess what the line "Can you find us hidden where we are?" is a reference to? :D

bOTTeriada goes ONG

Postby balthasar_s » Wed Mar 18, 2015 5:11 am UTC

the mrONGbdex story continues.

Code: Select all

"Is *that* what this is about? But that bot was my *creation* --" Mrorl protested, but his captor interrupted.
"To profess heresy on one's own is one thing," Balthacarius continued, "but to impose it upon another, a great and innocent Bot with the purest heart of positronic propositional logic!" and with this he powered up three more high-calorie machine-gun turrets ranged across the far wall, unleashing a hail of green, blue and purple dragées that hit Mrorl squarely in the neck, right elbow, and ear respectively.
   "OW! That smarts!"
"As well they should. Those are Smarties," Balthacarius grinned.
"If you don't stop this at once, I'll report this incident to the Duke of Zubycal, and he'll show you to a basement you'll never forget!"

ETA
Version 3.66666 Still Repeating, of course

Code: Select all

TheSnacker
* Fix for the blackhat issue.
* Fix for "What if We Tried More Power" issue (nest lining reordering thing)
* Debugging notify bit removed
* Version number and name
* Some early-game boost unlock condition fixes (suggested by ED) and some others too
* Coma now wipes dragon record.
* Adding formatting to the numbers displayed in the Glass monument when Muse is active.

snnw
* On Chrome (40) and supposedly IE, the size of the is too large, and its border overflows the div in the right margin.
* box-sizing: border-box seems to fix this quite nicely in Chrome, but I haven't tested any other browsers.

LuminousLeopards
* Removed savescum prevention for dragon fledging.

EternalDensity
* With Swim Between the Flags, on the Wave tool where it shows the castles to be destroyed next ONG, there was a space missing.
* Merge pull requests, write this post
* My internet connection keeps dropping out, hence the delay in posting this after actually pushing the update.

-----

Previous Update:  http://www.reddit.com/r/SandcastleBuilder/comments/2v8hqn/version_36666_repeating_of_course/

Oops, I just noticed that a stanza from the beginng, which is repeated at the end, is missing! I must have used Cut instead of Copy! I noticed because it's the bit with your name.

I better go fix it (already have in this quoted version).
I must find a way to sing it and make a recording. We don't want to wait until next OTTerCon to hear it. Unless my singing is bad.

Also, todip I noticed that OtterCon isna thing. But a completely different thing to OTTerCon.
Also, thanks for the binary!

Yep, see the caption right under SilentBot in the original post
You mean the caption that says it's animated? No, that I saw; I just didn't see the animation. I read, I stared, I squinted harder, I gave up. Poor waiting fortitude, I know. I may need some practice.

So we're not killing the thread by posting, we're killing it by checking to see if anyone else has?

Hi all! Just finished catching up on what I've missed in the last month. (And actually, it's one month to the day since I was here last, feels like years...) It was actually easier than I expected - things seemed to have quieted down a bit lately (except for the bots - I do agree that they are getting pretty dense). Wish I could say I'd be helping with that, but I don't think I'll be posting much for awhile - back to the basement for me, I just wanted to pop out for a second and say hi before disappearing again.
Hi to y'all too. While I won't be here much, I get emails when a pm comes in, so I'll always be reachable if you need anything
