Too tired to word. This is the first time since starting this job I've procrastinated like a boss. Think I can get away with it just this once, given all the work I've done over the past three weeks.

If you change someone's DNA to be a bacteria's DNA, would they gradually dissolve into bacteria as their cells start replicating as bacteria?

I don't think human cells would survive if you replaced their DNA with bacterial DNA. Transplanting DNA between closely related species provides enough difficulty as it is; transplanting between domains would be nigh impossible as far as I know.

Not really. They inject additional DNA that creates structures to build more virions, but they don't completely replace all existing DNA with DNA belonging to a different organism. Also, viruses generally don't affect organisms belonging to different domains or even kingdoms of life; the DNA (or RNA) they inject doesn't just "work" on all organisms. When you get down to molecular level, there is a huge difference in how specific processes are carried out; even the very fundamental processes like transcription are quite different. A human cell couldn't just transcribe bacterial DNA or vice-versa. (For those really interested in this subject, I'd recommend getting a copy of Molecular Cell Biology by Harvey Lodish. It's easy enough to follow and explains a lot of cellular processes in quite a lot of detail.)

ETA: completely unrelated, but I just bit the bullet and finally upgraded to a Firefox version that has Australis (from 24.8.0 to 36.0.4). After about an hour of messing with several extensions to restore my old functionality, it's finally somewhat usable. I really miss the GTK+ theme, though. Does anyone know if there are any alternatives? (I'm mainly interested in getting the icon and tab appearance back.)

True. True.
But...That, sort of, IS what virus do.

Bacteria?
Not that I know of...

We can get bacteria to create Human Proteins.
...I don't do Micro...Somewhere deep in the shadows of my memory are Humans
using virus to get bacteria to make Human Protein. The Bacteria are The Victims.

I bow to your superior genetic code knowledge.

It's been so long since I've used my Asus gaming laptop (which I never actually used for gaming) that the battery only lasts four minutes.

In other news, Ghirardelli used to sell spiced chocolate almonds, but discontinued them recently. I think they may have only been a limited-time holiday thing. That made me sad. However, this evening, I found out that Haagen-Dazs makes a spiced pecan turtle ice cream that tastes just as good. It has that nice cinnamon/allspice/cayenne thing going on, but I think the ice cream has more cayenne in it because it is spicy. I've never had spicy ice cream before. :D

I dread to think what the battery life is on my old laptop. It's a 2006 Sony Vaio SZ (tagline: "an ultrabook for 6 years before technology got good enough to make an ultrabook"). The battery life was pretty poor when it was new and it was down to 35 minutes when I stopped using it two years back. I doubt it would even get through booting now.

You can't judge a book by its cover.
I have heard or said those words hundreds of times.

Sometimes, The Cover is The Best Part of a Book.
I bought a book on a sales rack of a used bookstore,

"Learning to live with Guilt.
Because we can't live without it."

I like The Thesis Title.
I don't care for the supporting reasoning.

It's like a Fruit.
Peel it.

Keep the Rind.
Throw away The Nut; Or Not.

Yes, the madness can be very confusing. That was a great game. Decker is a clutch shooter in the final minutes. The commentary on that video cracks me up. I'm now pink! I don't know what that means. I support breast cancer research? Is pink a good color?
