This thread is for the sharing of music composed/played/sung by xkcd forumites. To start, here's a (rather mediocre) rendition of the "Force Theme" from Star Wars on my trombone (I'm not really having a good day today as far as playing well is concerned...)

New rules. These will be enforced as comically as possible.

1. Talk about the music posted in a previous post.
2. TALK ABOUT THE MUSIC POSTED IN A PREVIOUS POST.
3. You are free to post music you and/or your band composed, provided you also follow rules #1 and #2.
4. You are free to talk about the music you just posted, provided you follow rules #1 and #2.
5. If this is your first time in the thread, you have to talk about the music posted in a previous post.
6. If you do not know how to actually talk about the music posted in a previous post, here are a few questions to ask yourself so you have something to talk about. These are just ideas, and should only be used if you find you can barely come up with a single sentence.
A. Did you like the music you heard?
B. Did you listen to the whole song? Why not? You know you're a bad person for not listening to the whole thing, right?
C. Was the song of a genre you appreciate?
D. What improvements would you make to the song? Did a solo last too long? Does there need to be more cowbell?
E. What would you not change about the tune?
7. Yes, you need more than one sentence to follow rules #1 and #2.

Songwriting is one of my favorite hobbies. At some vague point in the future, I plan to put some demos up on the intarweb. When I do, I'll be sure to post here again.

Also, I had a listen, and although John Williams probably wouldn't put you in his orchestra, it's certainly better than the latest viral video.

@Cai: Pretty good stuff, especially AB positive. Not really sure where "gay daft punk" came from, though.

The Birthday Song, Quintuple-Bakemaster Arrangement
Written a bit spontaneously for a friend whose birthday it happened to be.

Untitled
An electronic piece, sort of confused, definitely unfinished, the result of a collaboration with a good friend of mine, whose music you should really listen to, and who is ten times the electronic musician I am or ever will be, I think. Also he's awesome in a general sense. Still, I like this track and maybe we'll finish it some day.

This is my attempt at a song of sorts.. Obviously I'm not very good, but I figure this place would be perfect for getting feedback since everybody is so nice, and would never viciously attack and insult me.. right?...

That's a pretty sweet riff, Mr. Samsa. It would not be hard at *all* to write a melody and some lyrics for that.

Also, I guess since everyone else is posting their Myspaces, I should too.
Note: It's recorded on my laptop, guys, none of these are particularly premeditated (I pretty much find a set of lyrics I've written, sit down with a guitar and go), and yes, it's just another teenager writing folk songs.

Er, I do Djing work... does this count for "making" music? I record mixes i make...

My blog on my Myspace has all my mixes. Currently the newest mix i made is torrentable, whereas all the previous ones are direct DL from Megauplaod or Filesend. And this new mix comes in 2 bit rates: 192 and 128.

This isn't actually a recording but I can make one this weekend maybe. Attached is the sheet music to a short piece of music I wrote at the end of last year. It was engraved with GNU Lilypond--I can transpose it to another key if anyone wants.

Your goign to need at *least* 2-3 hours of free time. My mix alone is 53 minutes and 38 seconds. That only one of them. XD. I still encourage you to listen to it.

Anyway, I reorganized my thoughts and created a new myspace (my old one got deleted by Rupert Murdoch) and I am gonna start taking everything more seriously. For now, you can listen to four songs I have done in the past, but expect more to come with analog instrumentation.

@Robot: Neat. I'll second Cara, Rocketship Musketeers is my favourite track. Sort of a Massive Attack vibe there. Good bass.

@Bake: I LOVE "Almost Time For Now". Reminds me of Milosh, a bit. Very soothing, but in a way that grabs attention. Intelligent background music.

@Samsa: Let Bake put beats behind your jam, and let Thom Yorke sing. Instant hit. (Or I'll sing. I'm game for a xkcd jam session.)

@Ren: Holy hell. You can sing to me all day long. No lie. I downloaded all your songs, since I could.

@Pig: My son tells me your music sounds like a giant robot stomping outside. I like it. A lot. Particularly "Abashed," which brings to mind some of Reznor's experimental stuff, like w/ Tapeworm and such. A little Skinny Puppy in there. Very kewl. (And of course, just NOW I see your influences... heh, figures.)
