Interesting, and re-wikified accordingly. Do you archive all the mschaONGS?

I couldn't find the landscape of either image in the OTC, in the SilentONGs, or in waveney's Beanie stories. Also, the statue is not the one from Click and Drag 1n13w.

Thank you molpishly. Not the results I had hoped for, but they confirm mine. I'll wikify these images as unidentified manips.

mrob27 wrote:I stopped from a combination of procrastination, laziness, and prioritising my own indices and lists. More recently, my failure to wikify was Wikia's fault, as they added bloat (of all types: CSS/HTML/JavaScript/whatever) making simple editing a painfully slow experience. (It seems to be usable now, so long as I have most features disabled in preferences, but it's only a matter of time before they wreck it again.)

Indeed, editing wikia was steambottlish at times, though for me it got a lot better after I updated my organised sand with more RAM.

My main problem with Wikia is currently its layout for mobile devices - on my MTA, which has a fairly small touchscreen, any page I call up is obscured by an intrusive menu which takes up more than half the screen and which I haven't been able to figure out how to get rid of. But for wiki editing purposes my MTA is unsuitable anyway.

Now, how about following my own decree? (I started writing this post when the thread was still on the previous page.) NP1416.

 • magma pixie decrees random acts of kindness.
 • Epic OTT-If by mrob27: "Updating a Sandwritten OTT". (Already in the Wiki.)
 • BlitzGirl celebrates 2700 posts.
 • Exodies takes the ottified version of othercomic 1256 that BlitzGirl had posted a few pages previously and turns it into a riddle about one of the questions that weren't hilit. (Which would have worked just as well, or actually better due to readability, using the original othercomic.)
 • Temporal edit by BlitzGirl coming from NP1428 with a dire warning about the dangers of Cookie Clicker.
 • Four posts down, Eternal Density posts the link to Cookie Clicker. We all know what came of it.
 • BlitzGirl is right.
 • And a baobabish sketch by BlitzGirl, envisioning a Time after Time.
 • On Angelastic's request, BlitzGirl tells the tale about the terrible fate that befell her tablet.

Edit for current decree:
HES wrote:

Lots. My current wikischizoblitz, of course, and let's see what else comes to mind. Most of the later ones have been on ice for a long time.
 • FFS hunt.
 • Working on the Pforzheim/Enz city wiki
 • Investigating a re-launch of the railfaneurope.net website or parts of it (especially the picture gallery), possibly based on MediaWiki.
 • Model railway layout.
 • Model car collection (1/87 or H0 scale, matching the model railway): cataloguing recent additions, improving/kitbashing/rebuilding some of the models, selling off some models I no longer want to keep.
 • A simulation of the railway network in Baden-Württemberg using the JB BAHN software. I got as far as putting in the railway lines and passenger trains in the north-western part of the country, but never got around to adding freight trains (lacking a timetable for those) or extending the modelled railway lines to the rest of the state. I don't think I'll ever finish that one.

Postby mrob27 » Mon Aug 17, 2015 2:49 pm UTC

I sent @balthasar_s a PM about the broken links in xes BlitzReport (summary: remove "dnsd." to un-break)
 ETA: Already fixed! :D

svenman wrote:My main problem with Wikia is currently […] an intrusive menu which […] I haven't been able to figure out how to get rid of.

Ugh. The only solution I've found for those is to run a browser that allows blocking HTML elements (also called an "ad blocker"). Use your favourite search engine to search for either "iphone" or "android" combined with the words "browser layer ad blocker", or just start with this article. You need an app that allows customising the filter list, and filter out something like <nav> class="global-nav-dropdown". It may also benefit you to use a browser that allows setting a different User Agent, making Wikia think you're on a "desktop".
Alternatively, elements can be blocked with custom CSS or "user stylesheet". I've never bothered trying to find a mobile app that supports stylesheets.

Four posts down, Eternal Density posts the link to Cookie Clicker. We all know what came of it.

Yes, Sandcastle Builder. In retrospect, it was worth it

Fixed. Part of the blitzreport was written when dnsd still worked. And not all of it was filtered out.
I didn't notice because on this computer 1190.bicyclesonthemoon.dnsd.info is fixed to 192.168.1.3 and always works.

Steambottle, don't even get me started! Off the top of my head:
 • I have a redesign of my timelapse trigger that I still haven't built.
 • I wrote an N-dimensional version (for 1≤N≤40 or so, due to the limitations of modern computers) of Conway's Hotdog of Life a few yips ago, but it lacks a usable interface.
 • I still want to set up IPv6 on my home-built router/VPN botcastle.
 • My blitz stranded somewhere close to NP500.
 • I started work on some <hotdoggy stuff> a while ago, but it's extremely early dips and I haven't done any work on it in ages.
 • IIRC I mentioned once that I wanted to port AUTOMOME to Android...

I dumped most of my half finished projects when I moved last year. I only have my Lego project (a Mindstorms controlled robotic hand) and a table expansion I am coating with varnish for floors. The final table is 1m70x2m70 (5.6 feet x 8.9 feet for the metrically challenged) so it can seat 15 people with room to spare. You just can't reach the middle. The table is only half-finished because I have to wait between layers of varnish.

Nope. I've had this happen while running Vacuum Cleaner, and just now it happened when buying Mysterious Maps. It actually happened again shortly after that when I spammed a few Question Qubes, though it may have been m*stardy before that (I only noticed it because I couldn't afford the MHP spawned by the QQ). Earlier, when I got it during vacuum cleaner, locking all glass ceilings would fix it.

ETA: augh, now it happened while completing a bunch of Caged Logicat puzzles! It's getting more frequent...

On the TA hunt: we decided to fix what's broken for now, rather than revamping everything.
I got a seaish TimeViewer, even more seaish than the one I'd asked for; I wonder if they'll want to fix that.
Also I got a solid-state sand, which I guess requires you to write using light sticks.
I still haven't checked if the old spinning sand has kept its grains in shape, but not to worry! I've copied the important stuff to other, smaller solid sands.

Nice to know that Time will continue after the Apocalypse.

So, among the molpish things happening on this trip were receiving a text that said "Molpy molpy molpy molpy molpy molpy molpy molpy molpy molpy molpy." It is a good day that includes a text like that. Anyway, that text led to me meeting--Yay!!! ggh, AND The Little Wonder, AND The Little Wonder's Dad. It was very quick trip, but really quite miraculous that it worked. We changed traincastles in Chicago, and were supposed to have a 4-hour layover. The train was late, however, as it always is, and we had just an hour. (A little longer, as it turned out, since the next traincastle was late leaving. ) And ggh et al. were there in Chicago during that brief window. We gave each other descriptions of ourselves so she knew me as we came in from the platform, and said, "The River is small!" And I, owing to 1) too much Outside and 2) two nights sleeping in an almost-but-not-quite-comfortable train seat, replied, "The Ocean is big! I mean, the Sea is big!" Don't worry, though, ggh punished the heresy appropriately with chocolate, though not stale. (It was just a wee bit melty. :) )

It was far too short a visit, but ggh was everything I expected--warm, funny, wonderful, and someone I could talk to as if I had know her for years. And TLW is absolutely beautiful, and lives up to her name.

If any OTTers are in Pittsburgh, let me know. OTTer meetups are wowterful.

I've noticed a change. What could be the cause of the rising sea?
How bad will it be, if the people in the hills just chose to flee?
I fear for the future of our valley home
With water encroaching on every shore.
Should we try, oh should we try, for higher ground?

There, over the sea! Megan and Cueball, back from their journey.
Unhappy, they seem. They tell their tale of woe as the waters teem.
"Let's gather together all forty souls.
This place is ending, it's time to go."
So we'll fly, fast as we can, to higher ground!

"The sea is rising too fast, we cannot stay on land.
We'll have to float upriver; use what you have on hand,"
Meg said.

I thought that things were hopeless, when to my surprise
LaPetite aboard her castle-ship gave our spirits rise!
Saying, "Come sail away! Come sail away!
Come sail away with me, friends!
Come sail away! Come sail away!
Come sail away with me!"

Neat! I don't even do that...

Well, the webcam is archived, but uses the image from 0:01 (modulo 5 minutes), while the xkcd1556sky uses an image not from the archive but directly from the cam, at 0:02 (modulo 5 minutes). So, actually, they'll never be quite the same. (And to be honest, not all molpy-like elements that have appeared were actually on the cam...)

Xey pointed out this was just another form of following the First Commandment, and I realised that I don't actually follow the commandments as, err… religiously as one might. While I don't mind Waiting for a work of fiction to be delivered in many tiny installments, I won't tolerate waiting a few seconds for a text editor to reflect my last keystroke. I expect this is some sort of heresy. All y'all know what to do.

I want to note, for no particular reason, the tendency of the OTT to lead me to epsilon things.

It is subtly wolpified.

Back on NP1379 @jovialbard linked us to "meow mix" by Cyriak, which is benign enough, but then I clicked on the "up next" video which turned out to be "something" described as "a journey into horribleness, not recommended for the faint-hearted or fragile-minded". I was reminded of it recently when these "Google deep dreams" images started getting posted.

(Actually, it's my ChronosDragonHat, and it's feeling rather wolpish at the moment. Perhaps "varbal" really means "wolpified by an hallucinogenic computer program".)

My pack is one smaller today. Smallest Wolpy will do the remainder of her waiting at Rainbow Bridge.

Largest Wolpy, Middle-Sized Wolpy, and Grand-Helper Wolpy request that in her memory you throw a tennis ball to a wolpy, or snuggle with a molpy or family member.

I am sorry to hear about your loss, SBN. :( It is always hard to loose a dear pet, no matter how small or large. Though the larger ones tend to stay longer with us and therefore the feeling of loss lingers longer before good and fond memories make it easier to remember them. As almost always, time heals. And all the good memories of SW you shared with us will be preserved in the OTT and by us OTTers as well.

Oh, I'm so sorry. She (he?) looks adorable in that picture - a wonderful member of your family. I wish her all the best at Rainbow Bridge. I'll try to find a tennis ball, but I scritch just about every wolpy I see on our walks (which often makes the walk take twice as long - I love other people's wolpies!) But recently the only ones I've seen have been on leashes in other people's backyards, so not really scritchable. There's a wolpy (Jessie) which I always stop for quite a while for scritching but she's not been out lately, probably due to the temperatures. She's also getting on; not as lively as she once was, but still happy to see me.

I know you (and the other wolpies and their heros) miss SW terribly. I certainly miss the ones in our neighborhood that are also at Rainbow Bridge; maybe they are playing together even now. Sort of an OTTer meetup, by proxy.

baslthasar_s wrote:I've only seen an OTT boardgame in my blitz recently.
Such memories. There was a Monomolpy game in the works too, IIRC, but it never got past the artwork.

Decree: My basement is probably the biggest half-finished project I have in mind, but it's actually making progress. There's an AotC installment in my mind for which the First Commandment has been in effect for a long Time, and I have projects that are ongoing, so will always be "half finished". And I think I'll leave this decree as a half-finished project, even though I don't know if I've addressed half of what could have been. :)

@mrob27 - the eyes in the hat of your deep-dreamed sigil is... well... a bit creepy, no? What exactly is google watching through your hat?

If I haven't welcomed peewee_RotA or Spaceman Spiff, welcome back! (And if I have, the preceding message remains valid. :) )

Steakish and awesomeful "Come Sail Away", Spaceman Spiff! Very touching!

It's heartwarming to hear of little OTTer get-togethers. But "ocean"? What's that? Clearly too much time on the Outside! Either that, or there has been some brain-manipulation by mindslugs. Where's RAZOR when you need them? What have you done with our June Bug?

@StormAngel - Wowterful "Threads Of Outside"! I like this blitz-a-random-page.

I think I'll blitz a random page myself.
Spoiler:
First post of the page: mybrainhurts writes "I want a flip-book of this strip in the xkcd store!
Remains to be seen how thick it would be, though. ;-)
"
Well, we know now. But this question came up on page four of the OTT, only eleven ONGs into it.

shashwat986 writes "The images have moved! from origin.images.xkcd to images.xkcd"

Beidah writes "This is easily my second favorite XKCD, right after Click-and-Drag."
I wonder if xis opinion has changed. I should have asked him at the BlitzGirl ceremony.

Waladil (whatever happened to these Old Ones?) writes "I was just sitting, staring for the 0700 update... and I realized how horrible Randall could be if he made one of the pictures a screamer."
Well, he did make the Voldeframe. That's a screamer if you ask me!

Dead_Moss (with an ominously RELATED name) writes "As always with these kinds of comics, I worry about Randall's wife =/", foreshadowing the composition of the sea.

SQB nails it with "My guess: this was supposed to be a slow playing movie."

The page ends with crawlkill commenting "maybe this'll end up being a joke and not a meditation on death after all. sincerely hope so."
Well, half right!
Lovely chalkTime BlitzGirl! And great Jeopardy find!

Awesomeful images throughout this NewPage (I'm now looking at NP2359, in quick Ketchup mode)

But all good things must end, including condiments. It is Time, once again, to Wait For It. :)

ucim wrote:What exactly is google watching through your hat?

Well, since it's a Red Hat, as in Linux, I suppose the Chromium browser folks are using it to watch people's search and browsing history. But on closer inspection the hat seems to have a wolpy's face, or maybe a river otter. So they'd be watching for tennis balls, and/or fish.
