Well, it's pretty strait, but it does curve a little.

Is there any significance to those two spots at the lower right side where the white line is broken, or is that m*stard?

If ZoomanSP is right and it is a dam (which seems a likely explanation) then it 's probably just partially obscured by hills on the African side.

I just noticed the "ENHANCE" link on the mschaviewer.
Cool.

I think it would be good to also have a similar one for the bluecave/fading t1iframes.

Can do. The question is: how do I know when to link to a blue ENHANCEment (e=1) and when to a no-fade ENHANCEment (e=3)?

That thing to the right is looking very hammock-ish.

The time is the future future. The Beanies have constructed a special dam over the Strait of Gibraltar. There is no more flooding, there's a nice sea to play in, and everyone is happy. At the top of a cliff formed by the remnants of the old dam, Rosetta swings peacefully in a hammock, contemplating their great success and completely unaware that an asteroid is hurtling directly towards them from outer space. The asteroid will crash into the earth, destroying the new dam. Thus ends the Beanies, the Forty, and most of life on Earth.

BlitzGirl, I summon thee! BlueCrab, I summon thee! StratPlayer, I summon thee! charlie_grumbles, I summon thee! All other basementees, I summon thee!& (I used A LOT of "I Can't Believe It's Not Goat Pope Blood*.)

&I started thinking of basementees to summon and realized it was too long a list. Decided just to summon them all at once.

I got it, too.

The zip file contains a file named “America_Airlines_Ticket_000105507.doc.js”, which is JavaScript (and thus executable), but disguises as a “.doc” file (which would be executable as well, so what? Those malware programmers are getting lazy!). Don't execute it. It's malware.

For those of you running Microsoft Windows: Make sure that the option “hide known file extensions” is not checked, on any computer. Never switch it on again. Instead, send a complaint to the makers of that option that it ever existed. It tells your computer to lie to you about the file name, thus creating a security hole.

Hmm, any idea about what it does? Assuming they are so lazy they didn't miniobfuscatefy the code, that is.

Doing some maintenance on the ottermap. Sadly error reporting for asynchronous tasks in JavaScript is not quite there yet. (note to self: “Cannot read property 'once' of null” at tasks.ls → missing TaskAction)

Outdated reply, but oh well what the ch*rp:
balthasar_s wrote:There is something on the rope!

Perhaps it's a hammock, and Cueball is about to fall out, causing an absurdly cueish chain of events that leads to an avalanche of babycancerbacontumorsnow, etc., thus begins Time.

Not-so-outdated replies:

ZoomanSP wrote:Ok, the newest hiddenONGs look like it is the Gibraltar dam1, but before it blocked the sea1. Maybe it was built to use the tidal forces to generate electricity, so originally it let water through? And/or it could also serve as a strait street.

Clearly the sea is made of black pixels, and the berm of white. That supports the coffee(cancersemenbabies) model for the sea, and I suppose the berm is snow.
Also, it must let water through, and in both directions (either simultaneously or in turns). See this illustration. If we don't let water in, the Mediterranean dries out. If we don't let salt water back out, it gets even saltier than it already is (which is 5.8%, vs. the North Atlantic's 3.5%) which would doubtless cause lots of nasty problems.
I believe the premise of Time involves the failure of the technology used to regulate these flows, and to distribute the load between the turbines and the overflow channels needed to handle weather-driven and seasonal fluctuations. They failed in a way that made the water stop flowing. Perhaps they just got clogged with black pixels.

mscha wrote:how do I know when to link to a blue ENHANCEment (e=1) and when to a no-fade ENHANCEment (e=3)?

I think the images could be tested for blueness and for fadiness (the t1i faded frames are mostly dusk and dawn-related, I think). It would involve testing each one somehow, with a script, and generating a list of results of the form (frame_number. e_value). I'm a little unsure of the details but eventually with a hint or two from @balthasar_s I think I could figure it out :D

The last time I tried an ego-search (just to try to figure out which, if any, parts of my website I should focus on) was in 2006, 223 results. Now it returns over 6,000. Most of the first 50 are me. Oof.

Lately I've been using "I Believed It When It Was Just Goat's Blood, But Now That They're Calling It Goat Pope Blood I Just Can't Fathom The Implications". It is hard to find but well worth it. Over twice as much SVMMONVS per BLITZVS or your money back.

I was just leeching some blood off in the infrequent cases I was a pope. In the freezer they last quite a while, they make their own antiseptic to clean the wound, they make their own local anesthetic so you don't feel it and you only need one per summoning. And summoning BlitzGirl is just worth the real thing, you know?

Indeed. I've actually had one of your pages bookmarked since before Time - back in 2010 I thought about arbitrarily extending math operators by repeating each one in terms of the previous. I figured I should check online to see if anyone else had done this, and found this page on the exact subject.

mrob27 wrote:I think the images could be tested for blueness and for fadiness (the t1i faded frames are mostly dusk and dawn-related, I think). It would involve testing each one somehow, with a script, and generating a list of results of the form (frame_number. e_value). I'm a little unsure of the details but eventually with a hint or two from @balthasar_s I think I could figure it out :D
In a script it could be compared if there is a difference (different pixels, not bytes) between t1i-%04u.png and bluet1i-%04u.png (blue) and nofading-%04u.png (fading). I think I can do it tomorrow.
(Yes, I just ran all the balthancements through all frames without thinking when it's needed and when not.)
Also all the files can be downloaded from /aftertime/t1i.

I also have the fading of Time enhanced.

It's worse than that. There is a set of extensions that are super-hidden. You need to manually edit the regsitry to fix that. Otherwise, even though you have demanded that Windows show you all extensions, it will still hide these extensions. I don't have my list handy, but they include several executable ones.

Google windows registry hidden extensions for more info. Or when I get to my files (I'm having computer mustard) I'll dig up the info.

And yes, I got that particular email. "America(n) Airlines" indeed!
