I know this will sound a bit weird, but what exactly is the time after time (TaT).

Edit: Oooh, Pope.
Decree: All must check one multiverse and tell me what happens in the comic/thread.

I hope I did that right.

After Time *nded, there was great consternation and much gnashing of teeth, for it seemed as if there would be nothing to wait for. However, this heresy did not last long, as after the ice cream there was a huge creative outpouring including sequels and prequels to Time itself, which were soon taken (by the OTT) as canon. They can be seen in the various Time viewers extant, and appeared in the OTT in their own time. So, as you blitz, when you reach the Voldeframe, despair not.

For there is more. :)

TaT is one of the sequels. T1i is another. And there are others that are in different styles, perhaps in a different part of the multiverse; for example bsta is going on right now.

Of Time, there will be No End!

I will strive to create a stable connection to another multiverse, so that I might serve as Lord Randall's Messenger, but the multiverses will not explore themselves. Will some noble person relieve me of this burden, so that I might dedicate my attentions to the multitude of Times? I may not have a completely perfectly stable connection, so I might change from multiverse to multiverse. Also, my drawings will only be interpretations, not exact truth.

Balthasar, you are hereby summoned to the Comfy Chair, where you will be plied with chocolate until you repent of your Grave Sin. Should you withstand that trial, you shall have the steak burnt at you. Know all that there is nothing that is not related, for all things that are, are related, and all things that are not, shall be related in the instant that they are brought to be. This extends to the universe, the multiverse, the powerverse, the exponentiaverse, and even free verse. For better or for verse.

And now... I must go look at those links examine the evidence against you... as is always done after the trial, which of course happens after the conviction. :)

Hello fellow OTTers. I have been reading this thread for some time now (Blitzing I believe it is called) and wanted to share something from page 378.

Wow, still no flame war; I was sure that the bot was going to be a bone of contention, but a sensible response from everyone. I love you guys!

You know, when I first heard about the pressure cooker bombs in Boston, I, like many others, thought of that recent What-if. I started reading the xkcd thread about the bombing. People were talking about destructive capacities of various bombs, racism, etc. Posts were becoming unpleasant, tempers were flaring, it was not fun. I ran with all haste back to this thread, where one of us makes hats for fellow posters on request, other folks are crunching numbers for everyone, and we're all cheering on someone we've never met. Remember way back when there was a post from someone (don't remember who it was) who asked if we could please just discuss the comic. He kind of called us posers. But no one got offended or upset. People just thought it was cool he used the word "granfoolery." And now this lovely resolution with the bot. You people are nice, and funny, and fun, and clever and talented. It's is so cool to hang out with you this way.

So, what I want to know is, when is TimeCon: The One True Convention?

I know, I know. Wait for it.

The camaraderie and good will in this thread is very unique, and the fact that it is still going strong even now makes me very happy to be a part of it, in my own small way.

The scale is unclear from the picture, it is only a little more than two feet tall.

I enjoyed making it, so I bought a lathe.
And then never used or even assembled it. It was still in the box in my parents' basement last I checked.

Who did the voiceover for cuegan in the with sound frames?

We only made barely more than 100 new pages this last year.

Hi Ithillian, it's nice to meet you! Thanks for the present from the past. We're happy to have you be a part of the thread, too. :)

To add honor upon honor, would you want to pick up the mantle of multiverse crossing prophet? You don't have to do it forever, just until some unsuspecting innocent person, I mean kind, volunteering person accepts the job from you.
I have the ambition of establishing a secure connection to a single multiverse, so that I might act as the Holy Prophet of Lord Randall across the mutiverses by transcribing the comic into this universe.

Also, I feel strangely jealous, actually very much so. What is happening? Why is being quoted by the giants of this thread so important?

Edit: I checked the thread and she replied to me! I'm so happy! She welcomed me, although she didn't quote me, it's the second best thing! No, third. If she agrees with you, it's the best. And if she disagrees, it's the worst... I think we should start a fanclub or something.

Edit2: She even put my name in blue <3

Edit3:I'm having an existential crisis! I'm doing random things here just like I do in real life so people like me! And I'm saying this so that people pay attention to me! I'm making the same mess of this as I did my life! And somehow this seems more important!

Edit4: Please ignore me.

No fanclubs needed! The thread itself is essentially the Time fanclub at this point. We all Wait for it together on the OTT. Image Image Image Image

During my blitzing, I'm trying out Aluisio's quotearrow script, which is molpish, but seems to also change the link retrieved when clicking the piece of paper icon on a post in the same way the other script did. (I'm epsilon because I always want that click to give me the p=0000000#p0000000 format url.) Right now I'm just toggling the script on when I want a quotearrow, then turning it back off right after. I think my odd OTT workflow must be similar to that of LongtimeUser4's in Othercomic 1172.

http://xkcd.com/1190 is still hiccupping. I would suggest the OTC take a big drink of water, but... that already happened.

Spoiler:
There's lots of silly/absurd predictions in the speculation, a whole sea of them, filled (naturally) with xkcdish humor like BHG attacks, red spider invasions, #1110 integration, etc. which all seem out of place in the light of what Time actually became. That sort of absurdity now seems very natural for ottifications and manips posted in the thread. The OTC itself, though, remains quite "realistic," insofar as it plays like a straight story of a future world without any fantastical elements. For all that Cuegan have a childlike sense of wonder throughout their adventures, most of the journey is very in-world, and even new inventions like Beanish culture have solid and plausible groundings.

Thanks to a firstposter who was never seen again, I became one of the lucky 10,000 todip to learn about amphidromic points, which I didn't take the Time to google on my first blitz. Discussion on these NP centers around the length of the thread (wow, 50 pages was long back then... did anyone think the thread would grow to be over 50 times that?), the correct pluralization of "newpix," and the distinction between the thread and the Outside, which still exists in the Present. I'm passing a lot of usernames now who will be prominent in the Newpixians/Knights Temporal/Timewaiters/OTTers of future mips. The first silly "it's all RELATED" instance seems to show up on NP 57, macraw83 might be the first to call the OTT the "one true Thread" on NP 65, and for some reason chem1190c travels back in threadtime from a wip in the future to post a spoilerpix on NP 63.

Image Speaking of spoilerpix, I also passed the frame-from-the-future mustard, the first significant mustarding in Time itself, when np143 was shown to Timewatchers who were expecting np135 or so. It ruined the reveal of the First Flag, sadly. Stereo brought a GLR apology which seemed to have been missed by the OTT at large for a whole three-shortpix span; peculiar, given the OTT penchant for noticing things and that it wasn't one of Stereo's first five posts (which would have gone to the mod queue and showed up later). Maybe the posting rate for those newpages hid it from sight for a while.

In the list of newpix-I-have-recently-gained-more-appreciation for, np146, where Megan attempts to escape the boundaries of Time itself:

But of course she fails. We are all trapped by Time.

Now this is getting interesting. The two towers on the left each have space between the main body and the slanted roof. If I'm not mistaken that is impossible to achieve with sand and water alone.

I hadn't really considered it before, but we never see Cuegan actually construct the two triangle-topped towers on the left-hand side of the Sandcastle. They manifest during the pan-and-zoom. So we don't see if those towertops are made of semencoffeecancerstarsand or some other more IKEAish material. Judging from the fact that Megan creates the turrets on the Next Level sandcastle (np770s) from what appears to be purely starsandbabiesonice, we can suppose that the lower turrets were made in a similar fashion. But we can't know for sure.

I think one the aspects of this entire "experience" that I find the most interesting is how quickly my perspective of time change can shift. Take for example the change from 117 to 118 (or any other very minor shift throughout) - when it happened, I had an reaction very similar to everyone else of frustration with a feeling of "that's it???", but now that about 10 newpix have passed since that event I go back and look through the progression of images and slight movement that frustrated me so much before seems much more natural and "as it should be". I guess I'd expect re-watching the progression of images to recall the same thoughts/feels I had as I watched it in real-time, if only in a purely "nostalgic" way, but that isn't even close to being the case. What has been experience over the last 3 updates has been extremely frustrating for those who are wanting to see progress, but I imagine that if this does last even 10 images longer, looking back on this short time of little change would hardly be remembered as a "slow frustrating time" but more as a quick, necessary transition.

Looking back from however-many-newpix in the future, the Age of the Slow Pixel is only the tiniest twitch of a flutterbee's wings. There is so much other Time out there that periods like the Cueganless castlepix fall away from memory as the more exciting moments and sequences become more prominent upon recollection. That's why I find it beneficial to revisit the OTC in its entirety now and then, and especially through the yiply replay. It helps to replicate the first Time we all Waited for it... it reminds me of how I came to this wowterful place initially, and why I'm still here with y'all.

That's what I'm seeing, too. The wall is invisible so we can see, but since the door is hanging into the entryway it's shown.

I can't imagine what else that door would be for, as right now it's up against a banister otherwise. It might be a good idea for him to close his door before he leaves, though.
In a comically tragic turn of events, Addams didn't die. You can help her here.

Does the basement ever end?

Good luck to all the Blitzers out there!

Musical machines

Spoiler:
I want to make a similar (to the STAF-PWM-soundgenerator) music-playing software... for a device produced by my FFS.
I did it!

I made a custom software for a device produced by my FFS. It can play music now. It can play up to 4 notes at the same time.

I made a video recording.
But because the machine is still in development and it's not being sold yet I think I should not post the video publicly.
If someone wants to see the video write a PM to me and I will send you a link to it.
(Hofefully, in a few months I will be allowed to post it freely).

I showed this to some people in my FFS today.

The song it plays is "Megalovania".
Because that's what my sister is playing on the piano recently.

The video (and audio) quality is very bad. So you might not hear the 4 sounds clearly (actually, most of the time there are 3 or 2).

Luckily, I also made a program that generates a .wav file which is identical to the signal generated by the device.
This is the file:

Originally I wanted to generate the sound using PWM, like I did with the STAF.
Unfortunately, the buzzer is connected to an output pin which can not be used for hardware-controlled PWM generation.
It can generate squarewaves, so by using a trick I could generate two sounds at the same time.
But that's something I already did in the STAF.
And I didn't want to do the same thing again.

I found a way!

If I understand the layout correctly, the buzzer is connected like this:
Image
IT's connected to the microcontroller with 2 pins. I labelled them V and F.
F is a digital pin which is intended for sending squarewaves to the buzzer.
V is an analog pin which is intended for regulating the volume.

I reversed the purpose of these two signals.
I set F to 1 to permanently open the transistor.
And I send the sound signal to V.

And it works.
(On old prototypes it doesn't work - this was connected differently then)

So I can send a signal from the microcontroller's digital-to-analog converter to the buzzer.
Nice.

But,
Making sounds with a DAC is not so special any more.
Adding four squarewaves on an 8-bit sinal is something that anyone* could do.
I wanted to use the opportunity to do something more.
So I added an (ADSR) envelope generator to each of the 4 sounds.
Now the signals look more like this:

One more thing I did with this.
The program which generates the .wav file also makes text output which shows which note is played and when:

Every once in a while I peek in, and I worry there won't be anything left to peek at, but there always is. Not only that but there's a new blitzer! welcome Ithillian and good luck on your quest.

I've given up hope on staying caught up. My life is filled with things now. But I'll try to surf the present.
I made my avatar, Buffygirl hatted it, Yappo smileyed it and ggh taroted it!
I've changed, witnessing this thing so beautiful

Good luck on blitzing, katakissa, username5243, musthavebeenmykarma, iskinner, thunk, GnomeAnne, and quantized ! Keep the signposts coming, we love em in the now!
