Everything you see here was downloaded by your browser. But most of the time it doesn't tell anything about it.

AluisioASG wrote:Technical explanation:

Ah, ok. It all makes sense now.

<computery stuff>
If you are are reading websites,
every link you click is downloaded by your browser.
That's how it works.
what happens next depends on what is being downloaded.
If it's a .htm file then it's probably another website, and you will see it displayed on your screen.
If it's a picture then almost certainly it will be displayed too.
Some other kind of files the browser will not try to show you but instead it will ask you where to save them. Some browsers download and save things without even asking you where (and if) to save it (I don't like this), this can be changed.

Some of the currently popular browsers will play an .mp3 file directly but will not do the same with a .wav file.
Attachments 1, 2, 3 and 4 are .wav files. Attachment 0 is a .txt file.

Haha - fair 'nough. Never hurts to ask though.
Actually, this conversation has just made the .wav doubly fun: I'm imagining that you are making that sound in response to our BSTA feature requests - teehee!

Like Addams, my browser happily plays an mp3. The wav file must be downloaded, and then it plays without the nice little interface that has pause and a timeline and stuff. We can figure out how to make these files more friendly (I can do it by hand if that makes sense). You can fight micromolpies and make more cool ONGs. :)

I think you answered your own question a little further down:
balthasar_s wrote:Some of the currently popular browsers will play an .mp3 file directly but will not do the same with a .wav file.

This is probably the explanation. It looks a lot scarier to many organized sand users if your browser doesn't know how to handle a file and asks for your permission to download it than if the browser acts like a pretty big tree and does all the handling correctly by itself.

Do you think you could provide your audio files in MP3 format too? If there will be any further in the future, that would probably be easier for addams and maybe for some other, more silent followers too.

Unfortunately, mp3 conversion adds a delay in the beginning which in this case is very unwanted.

Interesting. I prefer when the browser asks. Then I can choose: "save", "open", "open with", "cancel".
I don't like if the browser makes a decision on its own when I want to download a text file, .c file, etc. but the browser displays it instead.
I have the same settings for mp3 and wav files: "always ask" but the browser ignores it and plays mp3 files without asking.

I personally prefer the wav files since the mp3s cause a redirect. Unless there's an easy way to embed a player in the pageWithout it having a play button... I think this is fine. What was the abandoned place?

If the situation is as shown here, maybe the elephant has a flat tire.

With regard to the four .wav files, maybe they can be overlaid/subtracted/[computerystuffed], so that they reveal a secret content/meaning?

Of course, that is because in this case you act like a pretty big tree yourself. Among the browser and the user in front of the organized sand, at least one of them has to do that. To others, the browser asking for permission to download a file may seem just what the first part of downloading something that will reorganize your sand in unmolpish ways looks like (lacking the knowledge to tell which kinds of files might be harmful and which ones not). But doesn't your browser give you the option to right-click on a link for downloading it explicitly? Or to save a file that it's already displaying to your file system?

Hm. Your sentence offers an interesting possible definition. Fishish - something one might expect to appear more frequently than it actually does, perhaps. Like, so much river and sea and water in Time, but did we ever see any fishmolpies? No. Fishish. All these ominous mentions of the people in the hills, but they're fishish...we never see them at all. A touch of epsilon, fishy, expected-but-absent. I can see that working - have to keep an eye out for opportunities to try it!

Disappearing and reappearing custard

Postby Eternal Density » Tue May 09, 2017 9:18 am UTC

whoops, I kinda forgot to OTT for a wip. I've been reading and researching (and youtubing) a lot lately.

Somehow I missed 'pigeoncomic' so thanks for blitzreporting about that, BlitzGirl!

Despite it being a total waste of moolah, I'm strongly tempted to purchase myself two of these: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/jsoo/
Maybe subconsciously I'm 'compensating'. Or I want to pretend to be a supervillain.
Supervillains are cool. And useful for storytelling purposes.
Blood test tomorrip, after which I reward myself with a second volume of a marvelously cinematic tale regarding a riverish collection of diverse and interesting people who protect a rather seaish area, which I believe to be the place often likened to milk.

Hope all goes molpishly with your blood test, ED!

In the next newpix Cueball lunges at Megan and cracks open her skull to feast upon her brains. Having consumed the sensible half of the duo, zombieCue then roams aimlessly through the lowlands for the rest of the duration of the OTC, pursuing hapless molpies and unsuspecting Cueganites. Finally the flood comes and cuts off his food supply. Thus ends Time.

eww...BlitzGirl!
Time takes a turn into the dark.

I usually don't worry about the Time that flies over my head.
I leave it as some things I don't and never will understand.

Maybe, I should worry.

I was making some more bsta frames today, according to notes which I wrote some time ago.
There was one line where I was not able to read some of the words that I had written there.
I had to rewrite that frame again.

I was actually referencing that scene. But I probably should have linked to it.

Ok.
Not knowing this I did some search for vacuum wheels. Most results were wheels for vacuum cleaners.

SFJOR HELMETS

Postby GnomeAnne » Wed May 10, 2017 5:51 am UTC

I was looking at the solar wind video and it seems the garage in bsta is made to match the bicycle storage facility of the moonbase.
And then I found a picture of FTH

But it's not.
The video was recorded in a basement and garage.
The house in BSTA is drawn after a real place (but not identical).
But it's not the same place. The place which the house was drawn after in not where the video was recorded.

Reading BFTF is not needed for understanding BSTA, I think. (But I may be making some references to BFTF (and to anything else)).
Actually, knowing BFTF could make you expect some things from BSTA which will be not there.
Despite the similarity, BFTF and BSTA are not the same story, not the same timeline, not the same world.
