Could you rephrase this then. I thought you were saying you defended LaserGuy and Heury from being lynched.

Okay. LaserGuy and heury had 1-1 vote on them after this. If the scum-team is mpolo and myself then there are 2 possible townie-wagons available. We are in no great rush to join, so us jumping so quickly on LaserGuy does not make sense. Therefore we cannot be scum-mates. Is that more clear?

BoomFrog wrote:Also, looking at somitomi's and Bessie's wishy washy-ness about LaserGuy I'm feeling better about this decision

Where am I being wishy washy? If we have mafia I think it is LaserGuy. If we have cult I think it is mpolo. If mpolo is cult, I think he is setting me up for a policy lynch tomorrow as the most likely cult recruit because of the remark I quoted earlier. Or maybe he’s pointing out my towniness because he is thinking of recruiting me. So I personally I am more concerned about mpolo being scum.

Mondays are really busy for me and I'm not sure I can be back before deadline.

Yes, I'm checking in still.

I've resigned myself to never understanding Heury's alien logic.

If you were town you wouldn't. The info from a flip is useful for town. Causing a tie will just make us waste a lynch lynching you again tomorrow.

I'll be at work at deadline, so my last opportunity to post will be approximately 8 hours from now.

Vote: mpolo

His observation of the conversation between me and sabrar feels fair, because the whole time I was thinking that I would see myself as scummy too, then laserguy called me out on it. It isn't the strongest town read on him, but enough that I don't want to lynch him now.

Boomfrog's thoughtful analysis sounds so towny, and I have a hard time reading him as scum. But because of that, I worry him being an experienced mafia player that he knows that will make people read him as scum.

I don't know a single person that would rather as town allow themselves to be lynched than lynch the other person. I doubt if laserguy is town he is ever100% certain of mpolo being town as well, so why wouldnt he rather have him lynched?

I can't see myself switching at this point. Since the setup is 80% chance to be mafia you should focus on that. If you think LaserGuy is the most likely mafia then you should vote for him. (although I think that would be hammer, this feels like a time when hammer is appropriate to ensure a lynch.)

If he could choose between mpolo and himself of course he should choose mpolo. But if he is choosing between himself and no lynch he really should choose himself. Imagine what will happen D2 after a No Lynch. A townie will be dead, and we might get a useful cop result, but probably not. So we'd be back in the same situation as D1 but with one less townie. Getting the flip on the wagon target really tells us a lot about the motivations of the voters and we can't win without it.

mpolo already claimed and I don't think there is any point to claiming. Any role can be any alignment, so claiming doesn't matter.

See that's a town perspective. So would you prefer a mislynch of yourself over a no lynch? Should LaserGuy prefer a mislynch of himself over a no lynch?

I see what you are saying now. It is hard to lynch yourself as town, but it should definitely be done.

I've been in turmoil trying to decide this, but decided I should. In case I don't get a chance to say it before day end. Laserguy is Jean Grey and in case he isn't lynched at deadline nobody target him tonight him since I think tonight is the optimal time for laserguy!scum to use his ability. I will vote laserguy before deadline though if it is a tie.

Current Votals:
Laserguy - 3 (mpolo, BoomFrog, Sabrar)
mpolo - 3 (somitomi, heuristically_alone, Laserguy)

Deadline in about 30 min.

A replacement for Gopher of Pern will be joining, but looks like it'll be on D2.

Yeay!

And for future reference, every townie should always have a vote down, in my opinion. Even if you decided randomly, it dilutes the power of scum to control the vote.

Re: X-Men Mafia: Day 2

Postby dimochka » Mon Jul 31, 2017 7:56 pm UTC

There was much deliberation the previous night as to who was planted here by Apocalypse to hinder the X-Men's progress. Finally two candidates emerged - identified by the names LaserGuy and mpolo. The group could not decide for the longest time, but finally chose Laserguy as the traitor. And so they pushed him into Prof. X's Cerebro room, closed the door, and turned off the oxygen intake. Then everyone retired for the night.

...

But sleep was difficult to be had, and less than four hours later people began arriving at Cerebro. Finally when a sizable group was there, the door was opened. The view was horrid. Poor Jean Grey was lying dead, her face a horrid pale blue. Someone from the group threw up. Others had trouble reacting to this. But finally one person stepped up to check her belongings. To no one's surprise, she had two separate talking devices. But along with them, a short note was found with clear intent of how to assassinate each of the X-Men. It seems that the group chose well.

"Maybe we are done," asked one.
"Wait... where is BoomFrog?" Exclaimed another?

And with that the group headed over to BoomFrog's room. The door was open, and the view was not pleasant. BoomFrog, know to many as Jubilee, lay dead from a single bullet wound to the back of the head.

And with that it was clear that this was not quite done.

LaserGuy was lynched. He was Jean Grey, aligned with scum.
BoomFrog was murdered at night. He was Jubilee, aligned with town.

Day will end in 72 hours (1pm PST on Thursday); I will add the timer in a bit.

Effective immediately, moody7277 is replacing Gopher of Pern. Quick note that moody has agreed to sub, but as of now hasn't read his role PM yet.

Mafia. Also for the sake of simplicity assume that "disciples" of Apocalypse, as controlled by him, can communicate telepathically among themselves.

OK, I was wrong about mpolo being cult.

somitomi, the more you lurk the scummier you appear. Reread this post.

Sabrar, why are you so sure heury is town? I hope you have more than a gut feeling.

heuristically_alone, you look pretty scummy to me. You tied the vote, said you would untie the vote, and then didn’t do it. I was at an important meeting, so I’m not very pleased with you right now. I think you should claim your role name.

- I don't think it is in heury's repertoire (yet) to open the game the way he did as scum. I think he would be very cautious to post.
- this is reinforced by the flip, I don't think LaserGuy would try to get out of being lynched by bussing his teammate at such an early stage.

Quick re-read of LaserGuy shows that he's almost completely ignoring somitomi having only the minimal interaction/read, while somitomi is lurking and flip-flopping about LaserGuy and mpolo before finally voting the latter.

Genuine noob question: how would that help us determine heury's alignment? Or does it serve a different purpose?
