Madam Administrative Assistant

Postby ObsessoMom » Sun Oct 15, 2017 11:13 pm UTC

Am I the only one here watching Madam Secretary? I couldn't find a thread for it. Seasons 1 and 2 are on Netflix.

My husband, daughters, and I all love it. This character-driven show is well-written and well-acted. I particularly enjoy being able to escape for a while into a world in which the executive branch of the United States government contains many competent, ethical, and likable people, who actually entered public service to serve the public rather than themselves. And the marriage of the two main characters, although it certainly hits significant rough patches now and then, is fundamentally healthy, and based on mutual love and respect. I find the portrayal of a healthy longterm relationship in a TV drama very, very refreshing.

I wasn't wowed by the Season Three opener last week, but the Season Two opener was one of my favorite television experiences ever, so my expectations may have been a little unrealistically high. Hard act to follow.

Haven't watched this season yet, but definitely enjoyed the last two. The dialog is entertaining and it's lighter than other political shows (like the West Wing or even the new Designated Survivor) which is good. It's pretty typical network TV though without anything big to shake up the vast majority of episodes. I don't worry about anyone dying or horrible bad things happening because the "good" guys will win in the end of almost every episode. But it's a fun ride to watch most of the time. I have enough other suspense/drama based shows to watch.

I only watched half of an episode or two while my mother-in-law was watching it. It seemed incredibly dramatic...
Mighty Jalapeno: "See, Zohar agrees, and he's nice to people."
SecondTalon: "Still better looking than Jesus."

Not how I say my name
