Honestly, mainly because it was the opening post for a chaos game and he was straight up claiming the role he got last game. BoomFrog's demeanor is coming off a bit more serious to me, but I guess scum claims D1 are ridiculous by nature.

However, Sabrar doesn't feel like he's actually going to contribute much to scum hunting right now so I guess we could well have decoy Zebra in the game again.

clearly not on my side, SHE WILL GO INTO THE DEPTHS OF HELL

that said, I want Bessie, BoomFrog, Sabrar to survive as long as possible as I most trust their abilities to make sense of things, and this game will need a LOT of sense made of it, I can already tell.

Can you explain your reasoning? Do you think Sabrar is mafia instead of a different kind of scum? Why?

So I was figuring that Sabrar was being flippant with the claim of exactly the same role he just had and complained about. Given the nature of the game, I've come to think that it's likely true. Him and BoomFrog claiming anti-town would normally be something I'd bandwagon the hell out of, but there has to be some reason they feel comfortable letting people know.

So, I agree that there can be no truly independent factions that are not anti-town. Which makes me wonder about Sabrar's claim: since he can't win with town, town has no reason to keep him alive. Since he is threatening to out the mafia, the mafia has no reason to keep him alive. Therefore, Sabrar is either a jester of some sort, or has made a grave miscalculation. Given that it is Sabrar, the former seems more likely. Since there is chaos, what I don't know is whether we should lynch him or let the mafia night-kill him in order to thwart his win.

My role suggests that there are things going on, but not much else useful.

Have not read OP, quickly ready through all the posts. Everything seems as chaotic as expected. Was the town win condittion initially included in the OP? Because if not I'd bet Vicarin is scum. I'll be home in a couple days where I'll then have time to read more and contributr.

Okay, things I'd like to know in no particular order:
  • what is Sabrar up to? I know being cocky and confusing early D1 is NAI for him, but I want to know anyway
  • why did BF claim scum right away?
  • why are D1 town claims suspicious?
  • what's a convertible survivor?
  • what's a night-jester?
  • why is mark townie based on zero posts?
I think that's all. Oh wait:

This is the sort of Twisted logic I love using. But walk me through it.
I agree Bessie is probably making a mistake. Even if you are scum, I don't think what she pointed out is evidence that you are scum. But why would town Bessie be more likely to make that mistake?

My most memorable experience with scum!bessie was in Secret Santa and she didn't came under any real suspicion until the very end. My impression is that scum!her would simply be more careful in what amounts to an opening post.

I'm absolutely not sure that there is only one scum faction. That's just laziness of language. With the number of people claiming to be non-town, it's pretty clear that there are multiple factions.

Also currently 2 players are claiming to be anti-town and you speculate that one of them could be Jester. How does that lead to a clarity of multiple scum-factions?

BoomFrog wrote:@plytho and somitomi: Why haven't you confirmed that you are town or not yet? We could crack this game wide open D1 if you are brave enough to admit the truth!

Because I can't? I thought the whole point of mafia as a game is that noone can prove their alignment to the remaining 11 angry men. I don't think anyone should claim power this early in the game and a town claim on its own isn't much. Meanwhile, scum claims are pretty much wine at this point. Besides, your keen interest in claims is a bit suspect, so now I'm a little less inclined to comply with your request.

I'm not afraid, just reasonably suspicious.

@mpolo: yeah, not seeing multiple mafia factions being obvious if you think Sabrar is a jester...

@somitomi: only one I know the answer to is a night jester, I think LaserGuy was one in last year's Halloween game. They get a win as long as they die during a night, otherwise they lose.

If Sabrar is a jester as mpolo posits, I don't see why scum would kill him. In that case he knows jack about them aside from traditional scumhunting, but would have no win condition motivation to do so and mostly would be a distraction for town. If his original claim is the case, he still might not know who scum are depending on the details of his role; last game Sabrar only learned Vicarin was scum when he was targeted for the NK. Bottom line is that he's definitely votable at some point.

I very much doubt that a "high bastardy" game is going to be that easy to crack.
