Vote moody

obviously for being scummy mc-scum-face.

Can't remember how long it's been since I last played, so I'm going to be a bit rusty and take some time getting into my usual habits. Don't expect trademark walls from me for the first Day or two either (I have family visiting as well).

You, jimbob, probably Town. Maybe bessie too. moody feeling off. plytho bandwagoning. I always read plytho as scummy D1 so I should probably give him a pass until D2.

So, we have up to two power townies (2 options with one, 6 with two), zero or one mafia power-role (5 options have one, 4 have zero). The likeliest townie role is a roleblocker (4 of the possible setups), jailer or tracker in 2 setups each, doctor or cop in 3 setups each (one setup with both).

Hmm... Not sure if that told me anything new. But did I at least understand the setup correctly?

Yes, that is the setup. Do you want to speculate which possibility would be best/worst for town?

I kind of like Town Cop with two vanilla Mafia. Cop and Doctor with 1x Strongman is also pretty nice.

Well so much for bessie's speculation in her GG shoutouts. I'm confused but not surprised by LaserGuy.

Roleblocker and tracker vs. 2 goons seems to be the most town friendly setup. Don't know what the relative weight of rolecop vs strongman would be.

Anything with a Cop looks good but I also like Doc+Tracker. Scum having 2 actions during the night increases the chance of Tracker hitting gold, plus I feel Rolecop is not that of a threat (even if scum identifies Tracker Doc could protect them and in the opposite case where scum goes after Doc it leaves Tracker to investigate freely). Speaking of which:

Given that this is night-chat only, is it against the spirit of the rules for a scum Rolecop to share their result with their buddy in a coded way during the day?

I don't think it's worthwhile to hunt for sneaky stuff (code can easily be undetectable, plus it's only in 3/8 cases anyway). It's just a piece of info that's good to know.

What Sabrar said. There's basically an infinite number of options for scum to pick that will be indistinguishable from normal content. Mpolo, how were you planning on finding the secret code?

Flicking between setup tables and forum on my phone isn't straightforward, so I'm not going to engage in the preferred setup discussion for now. I'll try to remember to post my response tomorrow evening.

I'm genuinely a bit confused by some people's play so far. I have no idea what somitomi is doing. Is he BoomFrog in disguise? Did I miss a memo and this is actually a meta-mafia game? Is he scum trying to hide behind nonsense to mask any slips? I feel like somitomi is more likely to be a bit lurky as scum, than doing something crazy.

Bessie is being bessieMadge. I have this vague memory that she warned ahead of time that she would, but my memory might be scrambled, (I'm having some weird dreams at the moment...), but if not, this could also be an attempt to mask scum tells?

Getting some early townie pings from Sabrar's content.

In general, plytho's content (or rather lack thereof) compared to normal plytho is a little worrying so far. But maybe I'm misremembering plytho D1 style?

Moody, LaserGuy, mpolo and Madge are all playing about like I'd expect.

In answer to the question, I didn't have anything in mind to try to detect a code. It is highly unlikely that I would detect anything. As others have said, we should assume that (if we're in an appropriate game) both scum know the results of night actions.

Do you think scum!somitomi is as likely as town!somitomi to do this?

As promised, going back to the question about preferred setups: I like basically any of the 2 Town PR setups. If forced to pick a favourite, I'd probably go with Cop/Doctor/Strongman, since it provides the most unambiguous results, and scum can't risk using the Strongman kill until the cop is revealed, meaning the Doc likely has a couple of free attempts at trying to block the kill etc.
